One of the best and most comprehensive features we offer every year is our Footballguys Preseason Updates. Every week this month, Dave Kluge, Clayton Gray, and their team of Footballguys Staffers cover every player that matters from every NFL team. It's 32-plus pages of some of the most comprehensive coverage you'll find. It's probably worth the Footballguys Premium Subscription by itself.

Updates from Week 1

Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks

Just seven months removed from the rollercoaster of his career — a playoff win, a broken ankle suffered in it, and a painful team loss the following week — Bo Nix launches his third Broncos preseason. Perhaps the best perspective at this point of camp comes from DC Vance Joseph, who schemes his defensive starters against Nix every day. "Bo's played well," Joseph told media last week. "He's been accurate. He's moving very well. That's a great sign, but his deep-ball touch has been really off the charts this training camp. And I know Sean wants to make more big plays this year, and it's there; it's happened in training camp. It's been two a day." It's not just Joseph, either: the offensive staff also reports nothing but progress for Nix.

Preseason Updates: Running Backs

Veteran J.K. Dobbins is vowing 17 games and a league rushing title — high hopes for a runner who has played just 8, 1, 13, and 10 games over the past four seasons. In Dobbins' defense, most of his injury woes have been of the sudden-and-serious variety, not nagging or long-term. "Pretty fluky," Dobbins said of his 2025 Lisfranc injury, which came on an illegal hip-drop tackle. "…The storm can't last forever." As if we needed a reminder, Dobbins left practice Monday, August 10, with a soft tissue injury, but HC Sean Payton thought he'd be "fine". Even if healthy, Dobbins will face ample competition for touches from younger backs. RJ Harvey frustrated many with his bounce-outside tendencies as a rookie, and some feel he is vulnerable to impressive rookie Jonah Coleman. "I would guess it's going to be Coleman," Denver Post's Troy Renck said pre-camp, when asked who he expected to win the No. 2 job. "…There are those that tell you, Coleman blocks so well in pass pro, he could be the third down back. I've got to see Harvey, right away in camp, look different." Coleman may have looked more suited to every-down work thus far. If either locks down the clear handcuff role behind the oft-injured Dobbins, they will find themselves on weekly fantasy watch lists.
