Hi Folks,

We do a ton of insightful, thoughtful, and serious features here at Footballguys with smart people thinking deeply for you.

This is not one of those features.

This is Random Shots, and it's a few pages of me sharing all the random goofiness from this week. With maybe a music note and sometimes a "soap box" wrap at the end.

Here's to Football.

J

Diving straight into the music.

In honor of this beautiful photo, the Music Note This Week is a classic from my childhood.

As always, bonus points for the bagpipes.

Nothing heals a nagging back injury like a new contract...

Love this guy.

Plus.

So good.

Inside joke alert for you folks that mostly stick to the NFL: "The Fighting Librarians" is a pretty great nickname for Northwestern, one of the Big Ten's more academically inclined schools. Especially after a 34-13 beatdown of Penn State.

How can this be possible? Buckle up and make the most of life as time flies.

This seems like yesterday.

Truth.

Thanks to Clayton Gray for that one.

Life isn't exactly fair.

Neither is the NFL.

Whenever I think AI is going to solve predicting football, I remember plays like this. Tipped pass. Offensive lineman catches it. First down. Good luck putting that in the model. Football remains mysterious. And sometimes wonderfully ridiculous.

Travis Hunter is special.

Tee Higgins after the game.

Two things can be true at the same time.

  1. Never apologize for a win.
  2. This feels accurate.

You can't ring a doorbell in Anytown, USA, anymore without winding up on camera.

Somehow this official thought an NFL sideline was the exception.

Special Teams Matter.

I didn't know RIc Flair had a daughter. If I had known, this is exactly what I would have expected.

The Eagles had 75 net passing yards at halftime Sunday. They finished the game with 68.

Related.

Every team should have an Aerospace Engineer backup QB. The Passtronaut, Joshua Dobbs.

Thanks to Mike Green and Joe Bidwell for that one.

Matchups matter.

Thanks to Craig Lakins for that one.

I'm down with Chick-fil-A on this.

AI can be fun and useful in some ways. But in the big picture, our game is about human connection. And that's what we'll continue to provide for you.

The Saints were excited for Monday Night. Atlanta had other plans.

Also: Fantasy Owners Monday Night...

Cooper is my favorite Manning.

Whoever's running social at The Weather Channel deserves a raise.

Every time.

Steve Gleason with the line of the night.

Amazing.

The Pope wasn't playing.

My favorite comment: "That 'Okay' did not give him an inch"

Bijan Robinson explained in one 75-second video.

Fun video from Raiders practice where players were asked to wish Fernando Mendoza a happy birthday.

The internet loved seeing the old guys argue Thursday night.

They tend to skip past the part where this happened in the middle of a 17-play, 78-yard touchdown drive that ate nearly 10 minutes off the clock. Pittsburgh scored a few minutes later.

No need to let context get in the way of a good story, as sometimes grown-ups talk mean to each other on the way to the endzone. It's not how I normally do it. But I also recognize there are lots of ways to get things done.

On that note, he's not the same guy who won back-to-back MVPs in 2020 and 2021. But he's not completely done.

Who would have thought it...

Todd Monken is apparently a chip off the Bill Parcells block when it comes to kickers.

T.J. Watt has different rules.

As I often say, some of the best things in sports aren't about sports.

So good.

Best (and longest) pass for Denver this week.

The Little Brown Jug has been around since 1903, making it one of college football's oldest rivalry trophies. Minnesota brought it home Saturday, and P.J. Fleck was fired up.

Also, watch the water bottle. He stashes it behind the jug before the photo op without missing a beat. Man's got skills.

Into my veins.

Prayers up for Josh.

Friends.

Well done, Sir.

Wrapping with a fun story.

Thanks to Scott Sexton for that one.

Just one more reminder to be kind. And not expect anything in return. Sometimes crazy good things happen like this story. Usually though, nothing wild happens, and you just know you did the kind thing. Which is plenty.

Rock on.

Thank you for being part of this goofy journey with us.

And thanks to Footballguys Keith Overton, Mike Green, Joe Bidwell, Craig Lakins, Phil Alexander, Scott Sexton, Dave Kluge, Sigmund Bloom, and Clayton Gray for the help. If you've got a Random Shot of your own, email me at bryant@footballguys.com.

Thanks for playing along, and I hope you make the most of whatever you're doing in your life. Love your neighbor and stick together.

Peace and Grace to you.

J
