Hi Folks,

We do a ton of insightful, thoughtful, and serious features here at Footballguys with smart people thinking deeply for you.

This is not one of those features.

This is Random Shots, and it's a few pages of me sharing all the random goofiness from this week. With maybe a music note and sometimes a "soap box" wrap at the end.

Here's to Football.

My guy Mike Kash with the perfect caption for this one:

"Your uncle 7 Miller Lites deep against your 9-year-old cousin in the Turkey Bowl"

I could stop right here.

But I won't.

The best possible outcome of the J.J. McCarthy situation is Jameis Winston getting just enough snaps to keep him in the league another five years.

We need this man.

That flag was personal.

Do not test this.

It's a long flight home from Europe. And much better if you win.

God Bless Engineers.

I don't know how many teams practice a coordinated celebration for drawing the defense offsides.

But I'm glad Detroit is one of them.

Plus, I'm with @color_me_bradd, Jahmyr Gibbs doing the Scooby Doo was too good.

Another angle with the whole team.

Ok, then.

George Pickens had a night.

Philadelphia has some of the most iconic food in America. And with a national TV audience watching, THIS is what they bring out for the broadcast crew?

The "Tush Push Tater"?

That's a tough look for a city that knows how to eat.

Michael Irvin is a hugger.

Music Note of the Week: The Avett Brothers with "I Killed Sally's Lover."

From their 2003 album A Carolina Jubilee, this is the Avetts at their best. Part bluegrass, part punk rock, and about as much energy as you can squeeze out of acoustic instruments. So good.

For a little Knoxville (my hometown) music history, here's the Avett Brothers playing the same song at the old Disc Exchange on Chapman Highway in the afternoon before a show in 2007.

This is raw, wonderfully chaotic, and about as far from a polished studio performance as you can get. Stick around for the 1:50 mark, when Scott on the banjo goes to the next level.

I love this stuff.

Last week I wrote about "Being someone's #31". About being the person who cheers the loudest for somebody else.

This throwback clip of Seth Small's family watching him kick the game-winner against Alabama is another favorite.

I love the mom who just prays and can't even watch.

Cheer for your people.

Syracuse by 100.

I know it's cool to criticize announcers, but I think most of them do a remarkably good job at something that's a lot harder than it looks.

I'm a big fan of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. And I thought this was a really touching moment as they remembered their friend and colleague David Moulton.

A catcher throwing a rope to second base with pinpoint accuracy is one of my favorite things in baseball.

I'm not a soccer guy, but this was impressive.

Side note, if they make a movie, Nicolas Cage is a lock.

I miss Wade Phillips.

Jalon Daniels grew up an Aaron Rodgers superfan. His bedroom was apparently Packers everything, right down to the carpet.

The broadcast spent the entire game wondering if he'd get a jersey swap with his hero.

Didn't even have to ask.

Thanks to Dylan McCarty and Keith Overton for that one.

Interesting times.

We get it: Howie Roseman is the greatest GM in sports, and Jeff Lurie has no peer as the best owner in the league.

But where are they with the pressers on the Jalen Hurts blood clot situation?

Instead, they send Nick Sirianni, the guy who struggles to explain what offense they’re running, to talk about blood coagulation?

At least Lurie got to induct himself into the Eagles Hall of Fame.

Not to be outdone, Jay-Z selected Jay-Z for the Super Bowl halftime show.

Rough night for self-awareness.

Thanks to Nick Wright for that one.

How?

Ummm, Cris?

I thought he'd be good. But wow, Mike Tomlin is fantastic.

Ian knows.

I like when athletes appreciate their fans, but I can see how this would get tiring. Dan Marino was not messing around.

Steve Smith: Fantasy Football GM

It's a beautiful game.

Ouch.

These ads are so stupid.

To be fair, their bar was low.

A live feed of Stafford's headset with Sean McVay in his ear would be fun.

Who wants to know how players normally line up in the huddle?

Random Shots readers.

The holding his nose was perfect.

New Mexico's Jason Eck is my new favorite college coach.

Go Lobos.

Apparently the feeling is mutual.

Baseball figured out how to make replay reviews entertaining. Football, please take note.

Two things.

  1. Go Vote
  2. The Political ads are almost over.

We can do this.

Don't mess with Big Red.

Also, does Delaware know Michigan copied their helmets?

My NBA coverage for the week.

Back when some teams shared a stadium with the baseball team...

What a throw and catch.

Quenton Nelson demonstrating "Find Someone To Hit"

Seamless.

Joe Burrow Rope-A-Doped 'em.

Thanks to Matt Carey for that one.

I think I'd like Hockey.

Lots of parity these days in College Football.

If you were thinking that Josh Allen touchdown flip pass looked familiar...

Wrapping with this one.

We all know a play isn't over just because it looks like it's over.

And sometimes I wonder how often we forget that in the rest of our lives.

Sometimes we give up on things not because they're impossible, but because we've already decided how they're going to end.

Don't be too quick to make that decision.

Thank you for being part of this goofy journey with us.

And thanks to Footballguys Keith Overton, Phil Alexander, Dave Kluge, Dylan McCarty, Nick Wright, and Clayton Gray for the help. If you've got a Random Shot of your own, email me at bryant@footballguys.com.

Thanks for playing along, and I hope you make the most of whatever you're doing in your life. Love your neighbor and stick together.

Peace and Grace to you.

J
