Welcome to Week 7 of the 2026 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Replacing Davante Adams
- Replacing Terry McLaurin
- Starters Returning to Work
- DeVonta Smith's Value Without Jalen Hurts
Let's roll...
Matt Waldman: Tanner McKee will start for the rest of the year with the Eagles. Smith is WR10 in PPR formats on a points-per-game basis. What's your rest-of-the-season outlook for Smith and explain your choice:
- Still a fantasy WR1
- A fantasy WR2
- A fantasy WR3
- A flex, at best.
What is your projected outlook for Smith?
Jeff Haseley: I think Smith will be a mid-to-low-end WR2 for the rest of the season, with some good games and some not-so-good ones. I don't necessarily see him being consistently productive, especially when Saquon Barkley returns to action. The ground game may be the best way to move the ball consistently, thus lowering Smith's weekly targets.
Jeff Bell: Fantasy WR2. Smith currently sits Top 10, though Ja'Marr Chase, Drake London, Malik Nabers, and Justin Jefferson are behind him. I will take all four pretty easily.
McKee can support Smith, and this offense feeds him. We have seen instances where the backup quarterback counterintuitively helps the top receiver by forcing predetermined reads and volume.
We have one data point with McKee: Week 6, and Smith was the WR8. The current version of the Eagles looks more likely to play in trailing game scripts than to bury teams with the run game. Given his talent and potential volume, it's hard to push Smith outside the Top 24.
Corey Spala: The expectations should remain Smith as a WR2. Jeff Bell noted the Week 6 connection between Tanner McKee and Smith, and the receiver finished the week as the WR8 after earning 14 targets.
I am unsure if we can continue to expect that volume for Smith week-to-week. The game script should favor Philadelphia to throw the ball, and with Smith being their WR1, it leaves confidence to remain a fantasy WR2.
Gary Davenport: Man, the Eagles really shouldn't have built Lincoln Financial Field over that ancient burial site. It's almost as if they haven't seen Poltergeist. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Smith or Dallas Goedert gets sucked into a television set.
Waldman: I'm blaming it on them throwing snowballs at Santa Claus decades ago. Cheering Michael Irvin's neck injury was also a low point.
Davenport: Stay away from the light, DeVonta! Calling Smith a WR2 might be pushing it—it's not hard to imagine him slotting on the WR2/WR3 border with Tanner "The Mormon Missile" McKee at quarterback.
But Smith won't drop any farther than that. Last week, McKee targeted Smith 14 times, and while Smith only caught half of those targets, that volume should at least keep him either just inside or just outside the top 25.
