Roundtable Week 11: Faith Or Fear?

Matt Waldman's Roundtable Week 11: Faith Or Fear? Matt Waldman Published 11/17/2022

Welcome to Week 10 of the 2022 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. Topics are now split into separate features.

This week's roundtable features these four topics:

Faith Or Fear?

Matt Waldman: Pick ONE player from the list below that you have faith will help you for the rest of the year and ONE player that scares you too much to take a chance on via free agency or trade--even if the deal appears fair, slightly favorable on paper?

Scott Bischoff: McCaffrey is a perfectly reasonable player to choose from the list to have faith in, but I see Taylor edging him out because of the lack of quality behind him in the Colts' running back room. McCaffrey has to contend with other runners like Elijah Mitchell, and Taylor is alone at this time. Taylor returned from injury last week, and he had 22 carries, registering 147 yards rushing and scoring once. The Colts are a very interesting team, bringing in Jeff Saturday as the interim head coach, and I think we will see them feed Taylor as they get back to basics on offense. The Colts offense can still be productive, and it will be Taylor leading the way.

I worry about Jones's injury situation more than anything, as it seems he has not been able to stay in the field for long stretches for several seasons. Also, as others have mentioned, I don’t see the Buccaneers' offense as potent enough to get Jones involved enough to trust him. Receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are going to be heavily involved, and that leaves Jones as an afterthought in an underperforming offense.

Adam Wilde: Jonathan Taylor demonstrated last week that he is just as explosive as ever with his long touchdown run. On paper, the Colts have one of the most impressive lines in the league, yet they were not producing as such. I believe Taylor's early shortcomings were partially due to offensive line issues and injuries. I've got to believe if Jeff Saturday is going to improve the team anywhere, it would have to be the offensive line.

Leonard Fournette is trending in the wrong direction in multiple ways. He seems to be hampered by injury as well as poor play. It doesn't help that Rachaad White has been making good on his limited opportunities. It feels like we're getting to the point where Fournette becomes a roster clogger.
