Welcome to the first edition of our AMA Recap! We'll be summarizing our bi-weekly Discord AMAs, leading up to the 2025 NFL season. This week, Footballguys Community Ambassador Joey Wright answered questions about Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers and the Green Bay Packers' pass catchers. He also addressed general league topics, including roster settings and how to execute trades during the quieter part of the offseason.
Brock Bowers as a Wide Receiver?
KDDean: If Brock Bowers were a wide receiver, where would he be ranked? Top 10 WR? Top 20?
Joey: Great question! Bowers finished sixth in targets last season, regardless of position. I do expect the Raiders' offense to evolve somewhat in 2025, but I still anticipate Bowers leading the team in targets. If I were to rank Bowers as a wide receiver, he'd land just outside my Top 10. Specifically, I'd have him ranked as my WR13, just ahead of Davante Adams, but behind Drake London.
Green Bay Receiving Targets
Mondo Gecko: How do you foresee the targets getting split up in Green Bay? Is Matthew Golden finally going to give them an alpha WR, or is he just going to be one of the guys? How will Golden's arrival affect Tucker Kraft?
Joey: I'll be watching Packers training camp very closely, because at this point, I foresee a fairly even target split. I give a slight edge to Jayden Reed, though. This mirrors what we saw last year, when four players finished with between 70 and 76 targets on the Packers' offense. The addition of Matthew Golden only crowds the situation further. The silver lining? Jordan Love could be a great late-round target if you find yourself waiting on a quarterback in redraft leagues.
As for Tucker Kraft's value, I'm currently projecting him as a Top 12 tight end. While his 50 receptions in 2024 might seem underwhelming, his big-playmaking ability saw him finish as the TE9. He averaged over 14 yards per reception, which ranked second among fantasy-relevant tight ends, behind only George Kittle.
Getting Rid of Kickers
K-Lest: How do I get my home league (10 team/1qb/2rb/3wr/1te/1flex/dst/k) to drop the kicker and add another flex!? I've put it up for a vote for like the last three years, and they keep shooting it down. It took us years to get to full PPR. Slow to change these guys…
Joey: The key to any great league is communication. I'd suggest having an open conversation with your league. Explain why you want to remove the kicker position, and then listen to their feedback. The strongest argument for removing kickers is that it increases predictability and rewards skill while minimizing randomness.
If that doesn't sway them, don't take it out on your current league. Consider starting a new one with like-minded, anti-kicker fantasy enthusiasts!
K-Lest: Fantastic… Yeah, a few of them said they liked the randomness of the K. I talk a little trash with them, but I don't get too butt-hurt lol. I'm very old friends with most of them.
Joey: Open communication is essential to keep them old friends. Whether that be trash talk or deciding on league rules. Especially trash talk. Okay, mostly trash talk.
How to Complete Trades in Dynasty Leagues
Scofeelinit: As we've reached the dead zone of the season (post rookie draft and pre-preseason), how do you get leaguemates to pull the trigger in deals without overpaying? I'm getting a lot of "wait and see" responses to trade offers, or just flat out getting ghosted when I try to text before firing a trade off.
Joey: One strategy you can use is to follow the news. If things have gone quiet in your league, target players when their value is fluctuating. It works if the news on a player is hot or cold. For example, in a dynasty league, if you're in a win-now mode, you might consider acquiring Aaron Rodgers. Emphasize he likely only has a couple of seasons left and offer fair value in picks or a position player. On the flip side, just two weeks ago, you could have gotten Rodgers at a discount by framing it as, "He might retire soon, let me help you minimize your risk."
When all else fails, lean into the news cycle. It can be one of your best trade tools.
