Each even-numbered week this season, we're teaming up with our friends at Reddit Fantasy Football to host afternoon Ask Me Anything sessions ahead of the upcoming week of games. Every Wednesday, we'll bring you the key highlights from those conversations. This week, our featured guest is Footballguys Analyst Dave Kluge!
All About that Boutte
fromthecold: You buying Kayshon Boutte?
Dave Kluge: Depending on the cost, in really deep leagues, I might be willing to go up to 10–12% of my FAAB. In most leagues, though, I'd throw 1–3% and see what happens. His talent is unquestionable. He was even in the conversation with Jaxon Smith-Njigba as 2023's top rookie wide receiver before a down final year at LSU. He also flashed late last season. All this said, I still believe we'll see Stefon Diggs continue to emerge as the year goes on for the Patriots and put more distance between himself and last year's injury.
Sweepless in Seattle
fromthecold: What is your read on the Seattle Seahawks backfield after Week 1? Do you see it as a sign of things to come or just some Week 1 weirdness?
Dave Kluge: I'm quite conflicted about the Seattle running back room. I've been one of the biggest Zach Charbonnet touts in the industry. He's got the edge in age, size, and power over Ken Walker III. He's a terrific player, and he thrived at UCLA in a run scheme similar to what offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is installing this year.
That said, there's still a little voice in the back of my mind reminding me about Walker's preseason injury. I can't help but wonder how much of the Week 1 game plan was influenced by that. Plus, San Francisco plays a very physical brand of defense, and Charbonnet's thumping skill set might be the best counter to that.
I'm cautiously buying Walker if anyone is selling, but I'm holding onto my Charbonnet shares for dear life.
