Welcome to Week 9 of the 2025 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Fantasy/True False
- WRs Reuniting With Familiar QBs
- Hot October Quarterbacks
- Hot October Wide Receivers
Let's roll...
Matt Waldman: Pick one from the list as the most likely to deliver fantasy value this year. I don't need to know that you don't like any of them for a roster spot, right now. We need to know who you think the public should pay the closest attention to as a potential addition down the line.
- Tyler Lockett as a Raider
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling as a Steeler
- Christian Watson is healthy for the Packers
We need to know who you think the public should pay the closest attention to as a potential addition down the line.
David Zacharias: Christian Watson is back in action from his January ACL tear, and he's already re-established his connection with quarterback Jordan Love. Watson caught all 4 of his targets for 85 yards in Week 8, leading all Green Bay receivers. He accomplished this despite playing only 36 snaps (56 percent), fewer than both Romeo Doubs and Matthew Golden.
I expect Watson's snap share to grow in the weeks ahead, primarily at the expense of Golden. Down the line, Matt? I'm adding Watson now.
Corey Spala: Christian Watson came back from injury and, in his first game, led the Green Bay wide receivers in catches (4) and yards (85). He ranked third in yards per catch in 2024 (at least 40 targets) with 21.4 yards per catch.
It appears he is picking up where he left off, averaging 21.3 in Week 8. Watson was able to accomplish his stat line while playing 56 percent of snaps. I will concur with David that Watson should be a priority addition immediately, not down the line. Another note was anticipating an increase in snaps, and I think that is true, given Watson's big-play ability and blocking utility displayed in his first game back.
Dave Kluge: Christian Watson is the clear and obvious answer for me. Despite a Week 18 ACL tear last year, he returned in Week 8 and immediately played over half of the snaps. His first target came on a quick out route. Each of his other three targets came deep downfield, and he caught them all.
Watson immediately entrenched himself as the deep threat he's been throughout his career. The flashes from rookie Matthew Golden have been fleeting. With Tucker Kraft working underneath and Romeo Doubs operating in the intermediate areas, Watson is precisely what this Packers' offense needs to stress defenses at every level.
