Welcome to Week 9 of the 2026 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Ravens' Skill Talent, Post-Lamar Jackson
- WRs to Start-Flex-Hold-Drop
- Nebulous Depth Charts
- Jonah Coleman's Outlook
Let's roll...
Matt Waldman: Pick one label for Jonah Coleman and defend your position.
- The Dude: A fantasy RB1 for the rest of the season w/dynasty upside.
- A Dude: An RB2 for the rest of the season and a dynasty multi-year starter.
- Just a Guy: Capable with enough volume, but expendable by next year.
- Wrong Turn Clyde: You may think he's the next dude, but you're sadly mistaken.
What's your assessment of the Broncos' runner?
Maurile Tremblay: A Dude. In two games since returning from injured reserve, Coleman has played 71 snaps to J.K. Dobbins' 27, and Sean Payton said he's earned more of the ball.
Dobbins hasn't looked like the same player since his foot surgery. RJ Harvey is on injured reserve until roughly the final quarter of the season. Coleman is known as a short-yardage and goal-line finisher but also had a 51-yard catch-and-run against Kansas City.
He's not The Dude because Denver's run game is still weak. The team could trade for a veteran like Jonathan Taylor or Breece Hall before the deadline.
Jason Wood: With rumors swirling that Denver is prioritizing a deal for Jonathan Taylor ahead of the deadline, Jonah Coleman’s rest-of-season and dynasty values are undeniably vulnerable. But if the Broncos are priced out—and there are plenty of rival suitors with aggressive front offices—Coleman has already proven to be a far better fit in Sean Payton’s system than J.K. Dobbins or the injured RJ Harvey.
If Denver stands pat at running back, Coleman has a clear two-month runway to fantasy stardom operating as the lead dog behind one of the league’s premier offensive lines.
Corey Spala: I agree with Maurile and Jason. Coleman is a dude. The hesitancy to make him the dude is due to the rumor that Denver wants to acquire a running back, and specifically Jonathan Taylor.
The system prefers to utilize multiple running backs, and that will allow Coleman to have a role regardless. The notion that Denver wants to acquire a top talent does not bode well for Coleman's dynasty upside as the dude.
Regardless, he has proven to be the best current running back in Denver and will have been a dude for them.
Jeff Bell: A Dude. This will age poorly when the Broncos trade for Jonathan Taylor. I'd place him somewhere between A Dude and Just a Guy, largely because of Sean Payton’s longtime dedication to a committee, but we don't dabble in caveats.
Coleman is talented and has shown natural instincts that some backs never develop. He is built to physically handle a lead back role and has skills in the passing game. His pride in details like blitz pickup will keep him on top of Payton’s running back rotation.
Denver could have rested on J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey as their backfield rotation; instead, they spent meaningful compensation on Coleman. When healthy, he has emerged as the top back and should be expected to hold that role, absent a significant development.
