The Dynasty Trading Post: Week 10

Chad Parsons's The Dynasty Trading Post: Week 10 Chad Parsons Published 11/04/2022

Welcome to the dynasty trading post, where optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations are examined weekly in example and completed dynasty trades.

*All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise*

QUARTERBACKS

Theme of the Week: Justin Fields

Fields is white-hot in his dynasty appeal and future assumptions after unlocking his rushing production over the past month (at least 60 yards in each game and three total touchdowns), plus eight touchdowns over two interceptions through the air over the span. Fields is a building profile of better play but still a risky one to anoint as the next Josh Allen or cornerstone quarterback for the long haul. Fields has elevated to now provide options to profile upgrade at the top of the quarterback position.

Upgrading to one of the most bulletproof dynasty profiles for the cost of a 23 1st is a no-brainer trade. Even adding to the deal with ancillary pieces is optimal from a long-term insulation perspective.

While paying this amount for Patrick Mahomes II, or less for Justin Herbert, is preferred, this is still a quality profile upgrade at an integral quarterback position in a premium format. Herbert is sagging some in 2022 but offers a buying opportunity more than being untouchable-ish for a stretch previously.

Hunting Josh Allen is another option with the rising Fields, especially if Allen ends up missing time this season with his new arm injury. Jacobs is a core running back but does offer some variance next offseason without a contract from the Raiders and being a potential mid-career team change.

RUNNING BACKS

Theme of the Week: Jonathan Taylor

A down production season, a lingering ankle injury, the Colts eroding, and rising young producing running backs have Taylor sagging in the dynamic dynasty trade market. In some cases, Taylor is trading outside of the RB3/4 prices after being the firm RB1 during the offseason. Whether a strong team or looking ahead to 2023, Taylor has an appealing profile as a building block for the next few seasons with his already-built profile.
