Denver, Team Vibes and Players to Target and Avoid

Footballguys Staff's Denver, Team Vibes and Players to Target and Avoid Footballguys Staff Published 07/22/2023

As we race toward August, Footballguys.com will look at one team per day with our quick-hitting Team Vibes and Players to Target and Avoid, where we check out the overall mood of each team's offense and let you know the players we are in on (because they are great values at the cost it takes to acquire them) and who we're out on (because they are too expensive and won't give you a good return on that investment).

Broncos, Team Vibes

  • Good - 5
  • Neutral - 9
  • Bad - 0

Staffers with Good Vibes

  • Jason Wood: No team underperformed expectations more than Denver last year. Sean Payton should get the team's roster playing to its potential, much like Doug Pederson unlocked an already talented Jaguars roster last year.
  • Phil Alexander: It's difficult to imagine Sean Payton face-planting with so much veteran offensive talent at his disposal.
  • Dave Kluge: Sean Payton, a deep receiving corps, and a beefed-up offensive line should get Russell Wilson back on track.
  • Sam Wagman: Sean Payton should provide a much-needed offensive boost to this team, including a potential Russell Wilson comeback season
  • Chad Parsons: Sean Payton can bring back prime/typical Russell Wilson in his career, which unlocks everything on this offense.

Staffers with Neutral Vibes

  • Dan Hindery: It can't get worse, and there is enough proven talent to believe this can be a league-average offense.
  • Jeff Haseley: Despite the presence of offensive-minded Sean Payton, the Broncos will still go as far as Russell Wilson takes them. Which version of Wilson will we get? That uncertainty has me undecided on the Broncos this year.
  • Ben Cummins: Sean Payton will bring Russell Wilson back to relevance.
  • Nick Whalen: The entire team should be better with new HC Sean Payton. Will Russell Wilson bounce back or is he washed?
  • Ryan Weisse: I want to believe in Russell Wilson and Sean Payton, but Wilson was so bad last year. My expectations are tempered.
  • Jeff Tefertiller: Even with Sean Payton, success is tenuous with an aging - and declining - Russell Wilson in a difficult division.
  • Andy Hicks: Sean Payton has talent at his disposal, but his immediate success will be determined by his relationship with Russell Wilson.
  • Jeff Bell: A lot of pressure sits on Russell Wilson's shoulders, and he struggled to transition career phases in 2022.
  • Joey Wright: Optimistic for the new head coach, but cautious after what we saw from the team last season.

Staffers with Bad Vibes

  • None.
