Buy Low, Sell High: Week 3

Our Sigmund Bloom examines players you should target or try to move on from.

Sigmund Bloom's Buy Low, Sell High: Week 3 Sigmund Bloom Published 09/19/2024

The best deals you make are the ones you fear you might regret when you make them. We ride the rollercoaster of value throughout the season, and every week, there are buying and selling opportunities. Which are the best to try to take advantage of this week?

Buy Low

George Pickens (WR-PIT) - Pickens has been playing like a #1 receiver, beating #1 corners with regularity. Justin Fields showed his sometimes eerie downfield accuracy on the move on a bomb to Pickens last week, which was called back by penalty. The big games will come for Pickens sooner or later. Send out an offer to see how disappointed his team is with the dawn of the Arthur Smith era in Pittsburgh.

Jalen Nailor (WR-MIN) - Nailor looks like the fastest player on the field and has scored each of the first two weeks. Opportunity isn't going to be a problem in an offense that uses three wide receivers a lot, but Jordan Addison isn't quite healthy yet, so that puts Nailor in an even more prominent role. The Vikings love him, and Sam Darnold has showed great deep accuracy and timing so far this year. Nailor could be the northern version of Rashid Shaheed if Darnold is for real.

J.J. McCarthy (QB-MIN) - If you like what Sam Darnold is doing in the Minnesota offense, there's a chance you'll love what McCarthy does in it. The evidence is mounting that Kevin O'Connell can get the most out of his quarterbacks, and there is a lot to get out of McCarthy with his tools and coachability. He is as cheap as he'll ever be in superflex dynasty leagues.

Jake Ferguson (TE-DAL) - Dak Prescott really really needs another target to emerge to punish teams that devote resources to slow down CeeDee Lamb. Ferguson is the most likely candidate and he should be back in action this weekend. Tight end is a wasteland as always, which means Ferguson has legit top five upside at the position in a pass first offense.

Jonathan Taylor (RB-IND) - Shane Steichen took Taylor off of the field in the fourth quarter because he's not a great passing game back. Steichen took a lot of heat for it, and, in reality, the critics are right. He was running hot on Sunday and he's foundational player no matter the game script. It feels like a squeaky wheel game for Taylor that reminds everyone that he is one of the best running backs in the league. The Colts offense should also get better as Anthony Richardson gets more experience. Taylor has returned to the form that made him a #1 overall pick in fantasy drafts two years ago. Try to deal for him before his numbers catch up.
