Quarterbacks
Rank | Player | Opponent | Salary |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Josh Allen | at Jets | $7,100 |
2 | Lamar Jackson | vs Browns | $7,000 |
3 | Drake Maye | at Dolphins | $5,200 |
Josh Allen is that dude. He scored 41.8 DraftKings points last week and has been an elite fantasy quarterback for years. On the road against a surprisingly fun Jets offense, Allen projects to be pushed in this one to a certain degree.
Lamar Jackson is at home against a Browns defense that ranked 24th in EPA/Play Allowed and 26th in Dropback EPA Allowed last season. Like Josh Allen, he's been an incredible fantasy quarterback for years and balled out in Week 1.
Drake Maye ranked eighth at the quarterback position in rushing yards (421) through Weeks 1-17, and he only played in 12 games and started 11 games over that stretch. He's a dynamic dual-threat and gets to attack a putrid Dolphins team and defense that just allowed a Daniel Jones-led offense to not punt a single time in Week 1. Priced at just $5,200, I'm writing up Maye in both cash and GPPs this week.
Running Backs
Rank | Player | Opponent | Salary |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Derrick Henry | vs Browns | $8,200 |
2 | Christian McCaffrey | at Saints | $7,500 |
3 | James Conner | vs Panthers | $6,600 |
4 | Chuba Hubbard | at Cardinals | $6,000 |
5 | Travis Etienne Jr. | at Bengals | $5,700 |
247 pounds. Running backs don't weigh that much in the NFL. Henry is an outlier in terms of his physical abilities and is an incredible athlete, particularly for his size. Henry ranked eighth in opportunities per game (20.3) and led the league in total yards per game (122.1) last season. He just ripped off 182 total yards in Week 1. The Ravens are 11.5-point home favorites, and Henry gets to attack a Browns defense that ranked just 24th in EPA/Play Allowed and 21st in Rush EPA Allowed in 2024.
Christian McCaffrey made it through Week 1 unscathed, and he'll handle as many touches as humanly possible with many other offensive players banged up, including quarterback Brock Purdy, who will miss this game. The last time we saw him operating at 100% he ranked second in opportunities per game (22.2), first in total yards per game (126.4), and first in total touchdowns (21) in 2023. Nothing looked different last week in Week 1 as McCaffrey led the NFL in opportunities (32) and saw eight more than any other player in the NFL. He's in a good spot here against a Saints defense that ranked just 26th in EPA/Play Allowed and 31st in Rush EPA Allowed a season ago.
James Conner ranked 15th in opportunities per game (18.2) and tenth in total yards per game (94.3) last season. The Cardinals are 6.5-point home favorites, and this is an incredible matchup against a Panthers defense that ranked dead last in both EPA/Play Allowed and Rush EPA Allowed last season.
Chuba Hubbard is a workhorse. He ranked eighth in opportunities per game (20.3) and 15th in total yards per game (91.1) last year. In Week 1, his 21 opportunities ranked sixth most. He gets a Cardinals defense that ranked 29th in EPA/Play Allowed and 25th in Rush EPA Allowed in 2024.
Travis Etienne Jr.'s 19 opportunities ranked 12th most in Week 1. Then Tank Bigsby was traded. Etienne looked good and put up the second-most total yards (156) behind only Derrick Henry last week. Context has to be included, as Etienne took advantage of a Panthers defense that ranked dead last in both EPA/Play Allowed and Rush EPA Allowed last season. But another awesome matchup is on tap here against a Bengals defense that ranked 27th in EPA/Play Allowed and 29th in Rush EPA Allowed last year.
