With trade deadlines quickly approaching, it may be the last opportunity to grab a disappointing rookie at a discount or ship a veteran before the long offseason, when age becomes the only number that matters in Dynasty. We polled our staff for their rookie buys and veteran sells.
Question Of The Week
Who is one underperforming rookie you are looking to target on a rebuilding dynasty team at your league's trade deadline?
WR Jaylin Noel, Houston
Kashuba: If I'm rebuilding, I want players who are showing flashes but aren't yet accumulating box-score points. Noel is the WR85 on the season and an afterthought for most dynasty managers. He's playing on less than a third of the snaps and has been an afterthought in the offense now that Christian Kirk is back. But he's first on the team in first downs per route run, second in yards per route run, and looks like he's a local gas station pump - always open.
Brown: I will be going out to target Noel, a third-round pick of the Houston Texans. You can likely send a couple of third-round rookie picks for him at this point in the season.
For this question, I want to target a rookie flashing talent, but who hasn’t put it all together, and that is where we are with Noel. He has had multiple 60-yard games, flashing serious talent, but has only 197 total yards this season, not entirely putting it all together yet.
The Texans’ receiving core is wide open after Nico Collins and Noel, in a slot-heavy role, have every chance to absorb a serious target share. His electric route-running, as well as his dangerous yards-after-catch ability, promote serious fantasy football upside.
Spala: I am looking to acquire rookies who have flashed their skill set despite limited opportunities. Mike noted Noel, who fits this criteria, and his metrics for Houston: first downs per route run and yards per route run. He is currently playing behind Collins and Christian Kirk, with fellow rookie Jayden Higgins around. I would like to nominate Terrance Ferguson. He has only five receptions on the year, but his role appears to be expanding over the last three weeks, with four receptions. He has the desired athletic traits for a tight end to be a dynamic mismatch at the second level against slower linebackers. The Rams wanted to move up in 2024 to draft Brock Bowers; they moved around in 2025 to draft Ferguson.
WR Elic Ayomanor, Tennessee
Zacharias: Ayomanor is in a challenging position, and it shows in his numbers. His team is floundering: the Titans are winless at home, winless in their division, winless in their conference, and have the worst point differential (-127) in the NFL. Ayomanor is WR50 on the season in standard PPR scoring. He's catching passes from fellow rookie Cam Ward, who's experiencing his own "welcome to the NFL" initiation. Ward has thrown more interceptions (6) than touchdowns (5), and is ranked as QB53 in passing completion percentage. Oft-injured 30-year-old Calvin Ridley is on the wrong side of the wide receiver age apex and has been the subject of trade rumors. Depth chart space is becoming available. The chemistry between Ward and Ayomanor will develop. The Titans already have two extra picks in the 2026 draft to assist in their rebuild. Ayomanor can be picked up in the dynasty trade market for a third-round rookie pick and makes for a nice upside stash.
WR Luther Burden III, Chicago
