These contests are intended to be fun as you're watching the game. It's incredibly difficult to get a real edge as there are so few options, and in MME contests, there are often many duplicate lineups. One play or one penalty can change the entire outcome of the game.

Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes II - Captain/Flex
Patrick Mahomes II is the QB3 in fantasy points per game (22.1). He ranks sixth at the position in rushing yards (130) and fifth in rush touchdowns (2). He leads a Chiefs offense that ranks fifth in EPA/Play, first in Pass Rate Over Expected (PROE), and second in Early Down Pass Frequency (EDPF). He ranks 12th in passing yards per game (234.8) and 11th in pass touchdowns per game (1.8). He's done all this while only having his star receiver, Xavier Worthy, available for one of the first four games. The Jaguars' defense has been awesome to begin the season, but no defense can mitigate how Mahomes is playing right now.
Running Back/Wide Receiver/Tight End
Xavier Worthy - Captain/Flex
Xavier Worthy returned to the lineup last week and instantly became the alpha. He led the team in targets (8), ran the ball twice as well, and posted 121 total yards. This shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone. Worthy was in for a monster season before his shoulder injury, and the train is back on the tracks for now. Worthy is an elite athlete. He ran the fastest 40-yard dash time in NFL history (4.21) and posted incredible jumps of 41" vertical and 10'11" broad. He plays way tougher than his 165-pound weight. Andy Reid utilized him as a chess piece as a rookie, moving him in motion and on shifts, and also lining him up in the backfield. He progressed and improved as his rookie season went on, culminating in an 8-reception, 157-yard, 2-touchdown Super Bowl performance. He adds rushing upside as he ran 20 times for 104 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2024. Woerthy is a lock-button play.
Travis Kelce - Flex
Travis Kelce turns 36 years old the day before this game. He's too old and not good enough anymore to be the alpha in a team's passing game. But Xavier Worthy's return allows him to be a secondary receiving weapon, and he's still good enough to excel in that role. With Worthy in the lineup last week, Kelce caught all five of his targets for 48 yards. And his age is not reducing his role at all, as Kelce ran a route of 81% of dropbacks last week.
Brashard Smith - Flex
Brashard Smith played on a season-high 26% of the offensive snaps, saw a season-high eight opportunities, and saw a season-high four targets last week. The team reports that they plan to ramp up Smith's workload as the season progresses. This is a very fun player to roster in Showdown. Smith is a former wide receiver at Miami who caught 108 passes for 1,097 yards and 8 touchdowns in his four-year collegiate career. But he wasn't just a scat back. He handled 274 touches last season at SMU and turned them into 1,659 total yards and 18 touchdowns. He's also an exciting athlete who ran a 4.39 40-yard dash.
Kareem Hunt - Flex
Kareem Hunt has played on a season-high 44% of the offensive snaps in back-to-back weeks, and his opportunities have increased in every game this season, going from 8 to 9 to 11 to 14. Hunt is the Chiefs' trusted running back in short-yardage situations, making him the favorite of this running back trio to score a rushing touchdown. The "weakness" of the Jaguars' defense so far this season has been their run defense as they rank 13th in Rush EPA Allowed.
Kicker
Harrison Butker - Flex
Harrison Butker ranks third in field goal attempts (13), third in field goals made (10), and fifth in 50+ yard field goals made (3). The Chiefs are three-point favorites and have a strong 24.8 Implied Team Total.
