We are past the halfway point in the fantasy football regular season. It's time to make bolder bids as we navigate the bye week gauntlet and try to get ahead of the prevailing winds. As teams, players, and situations remain in flux, so do our fantasy rosters. As above, so below.
Here's a look at the big names you should be looking for this week:
Jonah Coleman (RB-DEN)
Bid Recommendation: 50-100% of Annual FAAB Budget
If Coleman wasn't added after he was activated from injured reserve, empty your waiver wire wallet for him. He vastly outplayed J.K. Dobbins again, and Sean Payton used Coleman more as the game went on. The offense was as successful as it has been all season, and Coleman was drawing praise from everyone for his performance. He will be the lead back for this team sooner or later - maybe even this week against the Chiefs - and he's the only three-down back on the team. Consider him a flex play this week with room to grow as the schedule gets easier and the coaching staff's trust in him grows.
Tre Tucker (WR-LV)
Bid Recommendation: 50-100% of Annual FAAB Budget
Tucker stayed red hot in the loss to the Rams and was a focal point of the passing game, with 12 targets. He went over 100 yards with a score and got free in the Rams' secondary more than once. Teams are going to continue to focus on Brock Bowers, so Tucker may have staying power, and he certainly should be in fantasy lineups against the Jets in Week 8.
Omar Cooper Jr. (WR-NYJ)
Bid Recommendation: 20-40% of Annual FAAB Budget
Jets first-round pick Omar Cooper Jr. has started and finished two games this season, and he has gone over 100 yards and scored in both games. Adonai Mitchell returned, lowering Cooper's snap share to 64% from 82% in Week 6, but it didn't change the fantasy outcome. There will be volatility here, and this was the Titans defense, so we shouldn't get too excited, but Cooper has graduated from fluke to the beginning of a trend. He's a top priority waiver add if he wasn't scooped up last week and Jonah Coleman isn't still out there.
Caleb Douglas (WR-MIA)
Bid Recommendation: 15-30% of Annual FAAB Budget
Like Omar Cooper Jr., Douglas has been a strong fantasy play in both of his full games as a rookie. His pass offense is lower volume by design, but he has deep speed to spare in a rare combination with length and agility. The Dolphins offense is getting better by the week, and Douglas should both drive and benefit from that. He might be a challenge for Patriots' top corner Christian Gonzalez in Week 8
Seth McGowan (RB-IND)
Bid Recommendation: 15-30% of Annual FAAB Budget
McGowan ran tough as the Colts leaned on the backfield to stay in the game against the vicious Vikings pass rush. Now that the Colts' season is basically over, Jonathan Taylor trade rumors are going to heat up. If Taylor gets dealt, McGowan will become the starter. He has a three-down skill set (think Zack Moss), so he would be a weekly flex play if he becomes the #1 back in a second-half teardown.
