Updates from Week 4
Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks
Baker Mayfield has quickly grasped Zac Robinson's new scheme during training camp as he enters a crucial contract year. He recently said it is "relaxing" to have Tristin Wirfs back at practice after his return from injury, per Scott Smith of NFL.com. Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels impressed throughout camp and the first two preseason games, leading Tampa Bay to back-to-back second-half come-from-behind victories. He drew the surprise start in the preseason finale and received nearly a full audition, but it proved to be his worst performance of the summer — going 8-for-15 for 57 yards with a turnover in roughly three quarters of football while his offense failed to score. Daniels nonetheless did enough to secure the No. 2 quarterback spot on the roster, with Jake Browning receiving his release.
Preseason Updates: Running Backs
Bucky Irving has seemingly gotten healthy this offseason and appears ready for a strong bounce-back opportunity in 2026. Irving and free-agent addition Kenny Gainwell were held without a touch in the preseason game against Jacksonville. The depth battle behind them centered on Josh Williams and Sean Tucker competing for the third spot on the depth chart. Williams led the team with 8 carries for 21 yards in the preseason, but the club ultimately released him, with Tucker claiming the final running back roster spot.
