Welcome to the latest edition of AMA Recap! We'll be summarizing our bi-weekly Discord AMAs as we approach the 2025 NFL season. This week, Footballguys Analyst Hutchinson Brown takes a look at the backfields in Washington and Houston, early first-round draft strategy, and what we can expect from John Metchie III.
Jacory, You Mean Bill?
bu11dog: Where are you at on the Jacory Croskey-Merritt hype? What’s the earliest you’re taking him in dynasty with the potential Brian Robinson Jr. trade news?
Hutchinson Brown: The fact that the Washington Commanders want to trade Robinson at all screams serious confidence in someone on their roster, and given what their running back room looks like, it has to be Croskey-Merritt they are excited for. Even if Robinson is not moved, he is a replaceable, bruiser back. Croskey-Merritt has the opportunity to get involved early for this offense. I would not pay a second for him, but I'm happy to swing a pair of third-round picks for him.
Deep In The Heart of Texas
bro1ncos: What is your opinion on the Houston Texans running back situation? When does Woody Marks move to the first option on the team?
Hutchinson Brown: For one, I think Houston may be one of the teams that call for Brian Robinson Jr. However, assuming that does not happen, I am happy to take dart throws on Dameon Pierce and Woody Marks. Nick Chubb has not looked good for quite a while. Pierce has produced some solid numbers before with the starting role, and Marks is an exciting rookie prospect. They're both worth drafting late, but I am not overreaching. This offensive line is not great, and it could be a messy committee.
The Third Man
Adam Perdomo: If you have the third pick in a draft and Ja'Marr Chase and Bijan Robinson are gone, who are you drafting next?
Hutchinson Brown: Jahmyr Gibbs is my guy there. He is an elite talent, one of the best backs in the game; we all know that. The reports out of Detroit show that Gibbs is set for not only a heavier workload with this new coaching staff, but also more goal-line packages. 2024 was the year of Saquon Barkley; watch 2025 be the year of Jahmyr Gibbs!
