Updates from Week 1

Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks

After an up-and-down rookie year, Cam Ward is entering an intriguing second season with a new team around him. Day 1 of training camp was a solid start, according to Jim Wyatt of NFL.com. Ward was not perfect but had some good plays, completing 9-of-16 passes with two touchdowns. Wyatt also notes that Ward looks leaner and moves better than at this same point a year ago. The backup quarterback battle between Will Levis and Mitchell Trubisky adds intrigue behind him. HC Robert Saleh recently addressed the situation: "Cam Ward is our starting quarterback ... We'll give Mitchell Trubisky and Will Levis every opportunity behind him." Dharya Sharma of Sports Illustrated believes that, based on some struggles on Day 1, Levis will be the one to lose the QB2 job and potentially miss one of the 53 roster spots, noting he looks like the same player who entered the league in 2023.

Preseason Updates: Running Backs

The Titans backfield is intriguing heading into the season, with Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears atop the depth chart as they were last year. Tennessee added a Day 3 back in Nicholas Singleton, who had a productive career at Penn State. Spears has been the one turning heads early, making the most of his passing game opportunities, per local Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky. Based on how first-team reps are being split, the backfield figures to look similar to last year — Pollard leads, Spears works in. Singleton is worth monitoring, though. He is one injury away from a real opportunity and is reportedly ahead of schedule after a broken foot sustained this spring.
