Updates from Week 4
Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks
Cam Ward has continued to produce some highs and lows in training camp. In Tuesday's practice, Ward was sloppy, hitting 7 of 16 attempts with two interceptions and two touchdowns against his shaky secondary in 7-on-7 team drills. He had a great joint practice with the Bears on Thursday, putting up a 19-of-30, three-touchdown, one-turnover performance, per AtoZ Sports. He had to face a tough moment in the media this week, with a reporter directly telling him he doesn't think he's playing well — Ward handled the comment with immense maturity and responded well; the video can be found on Jared Stillman's Twitter, as he was the reporter who initiated the exchange. With Ward and Mitchell Trubisky as locks to make the roster, the Titans let Will Levis and Hendon Hooker battle it out for the potential third quarterback spot, but neither earned a place on the final roster.
Preseason Updates: Running Backs
The Titans starters had a great joint practice. Tony Pollard caught a contested 50-yard bomb and displayed some gritty running, while Tyjae Spears caught five of five passes as the second-most productive pass catcher in the third session behind Carnell Tate. Nicholas Singleton, a rookie who has shown some struggle so far, came back from injury this week and made some great plays in team drills for the second-team offense — he was busy in the run game and caught three passes, one going for a touchdown. Pollard and Spears sat out of the preseason game against Chicago, while Singleton carried the ball seven times and caught two passes, totaling 44 yards and making some good plays in the process. Julius Chestnut, who had a great offseason, and Singleton ended up making the final 53-man roster for Tennessee alongside Spears and Pollard.
