Quarterbacks
| Rank | Player | Opponent | Salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Josh Allen | at Dolphins | $7,000 |
| 2 | Matthew Stafford | at 49ers | $6,500 |
| 3 | Caleb Williams | vs Giants | $6,000 |
| 4 | Sam Darnold | vs Cardinals | $5,800 |
| 5 | J.J. McCarthy | vs Ravens | $4,900 |
| 6 | Jaxson Dart | at Bears | $5,700 |
Josh Allen leads all quarterbacks in DraftKings points per game (24.2) and leads a Bills offense that ranks second in EPA/Play. Buffalo has the highest Implied Team Total (29.5) of the entire week, and Allen gets to attack a bad Dolphins defense that ranks just 29th in EPA/Play Allowed and 31st in Dropback EPA Allowed.
Matthew Stafford's reported back issues in training camp feel like years ago. He's playing out of his mind this season. Stafford leads a Rams offense that ranks second in Pass Rate Over Expected (PROE), fourth in Early Down Pass Frequency (EDPF), and seventh in EPA/Play. He ranks third in both passing yards per game (268.4) and pass touchdowns per game (2.6). Stafford has the fantastic combination of a favorable matchup and fantasy game environment. He gets a 49ers defense that ranks just 20th in EPA/Play Allowed and 25th in Dropback EPA Allowed and is playing in a competitive divisional matchup in a contest tied for the highest Over/Under (49.5) of the week. Stafford is a great play in all formats.
Caleb Williams has been streaky this season, but we shouldn't worry about that too much in this fantastic spot. Williams gets to play at home against a bad Giants defense that ranks just 25th in EPA/Play Allowed and 22nd in Dropback EPA Allowed. There are signs that Williams and Ben Johnson are developing their chemistry as Chicago's offense ranks 11th best in EPA/Play. Williams is in play in both cash and GPPs.
Sam Darnold is having one hell of a season and is a legitimate MVP candidate. He leads a Seahawks defense that ranks fifth in EPA/Play, and he ranks eighth in passing yards per game (260.5), sixth in pass touchdowns per game (2), second in average depth of target (10.2), and first in PFF Big Time Throws (21). Darnold doesn't have an awesome matchup on paper, but the Cardinals will be without their rookie second-round corner, and Darnold has proven to essentially be matchup-proof at this point. He's playing at home, and Seattle has the fifth-highest Implied Team Total (26) of the week. Darnold is a sneaky play in all formats.
J.J. McCarthy threw for just 143 yards last week, but he did throw two touchdowns and add a rushing score as well. McCarthy is in play in cash largely due to his affordable $4,900 price tag, but also thanks to his dual-threat capabilities, and favorable home matchup against a Ravens defense that ranks just 26th in EPA/Play Allowed and 24th in Dropback EPA Allowed.
Jaxson Dart has proven to be a true dual-threat. His rushing ranks at the quarterback position: seventh in rushing yards (251) and second in rush touchdowns (5). He's played in just six games. Dart has an affordable $5,700 price tag and gets a Bears defense that ranks middle of the pack in both EPA/Play Allowed (16th) and Dropback EPA Allowed (16th).
Running Backs
| Rank | Player | Opponent | Salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Rico Dowdle | vs Saints | $6,300 |
| 2 | Christian McCaffrey | vs Rams | $9,000 |
| 3 | De'Von Achane | vs Bills | $7,400 |
| 4 | Quinshon Judkins | at Jets | $6,500 |
Cash game running backs are straightforward this week!
Rico Dowdle is a must-play in cash and a fantastic play in tournaments as well. Looking at his three total games, two in which Chuba Hubbard was out and one last week in which the Panthers finally gave Dowdle the keys to the offense despite Hubbard being active, Dowdle has averaged 30 opportunities and 204.7 total yards and scored four total touchdowns over that span. For comparison, Christian McCaffrey leads the NFL in opportunities per game (27.6) and total yards per game (135.8) this season. The Panthers are 5.5-point home favorites, and Dowdle gets a Saints defense that ranks 24th in EPA/Play Allowed. Don't overthink this one.
Christian McCaffrey leads the NFL in opportunities per game (27.6) and total yards per game (135.8) and ranks fourth in touchdowns (8). His workload is insane, and it doesn't project to change this week in this competitive divisional matchup that has the highest Over/Under (49.5) of the entire week.
Without Tyreek Hill and Darren Waller, De'Von Achane and Jaylen Waddle are basically all Miami has left on offense. Achane ranks seventh in the NFL in opportunities per game (20.1), and that doesn't project to change any time soon. Achane is a dual-threat elite talent that ranks eighth in total yards per game (97.8) and sixth in touchdowns (7). He gets to play at home this week against a Bills defense that ranks 29th in Rush EPA Allowed and that recently lost Ed Oliver to injury. Achane is a good play in all formats.
The Jets' defense was already terrible, as they rank 28th in EPA/Play Allowed and 20th in Rush EPA Allowed. They just traded Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams this week. Quinshon Judkins ranks 11th in opportunities per game (19) and has received over 20 carries in three of his past four healthy games. He projects to run all over the Jets.
