The season is here. We move from the dynasty offseason to waivers and trades. In today's "Dynasty News," we will examine some of the larger happenings of the week from a dynasty perspective.
Dynasty News: RB Joe Mixon, Houston Texans
There has been much mystery surrounding the nature and extent of Joe Mixon's foot injury. Last week, general manager Nick Caserio said, "Once we get through four weeks, we'll evaluate it at that time." Dynasty managers should not expect the star tailback before at least midseason. Caserio was asked if he anticipates Mixon playing at all this season, and responded, "We'll see, we'll take it one day at a time." This is far from encouraging for Mixon in dynasty leagues. A veteran tailback with a foot injury is not comforting. He is replaced by veterans Nick Chubb and Dameon Pierce. Neither of these ball carriers should be considered anything more than a desperation flex option at this point. We are intrigued by rookie Woody Marks and are anxious to see the role the coaches have planned for him.
Dynasty News: RB Quinshon Judkins, Cleveland Browns
Quinshon Judkins was selected near the top of the second round of this year's NFL Draft (pick 36 overall). Soon after the draft, it was reported that Judkins was being investigated for domestic battery. On August 12, prosecutors declined to pursue the case. There is still the lingering doubt whether the NFL Commissioner's Office will suspend Judkins. As of September 1, he has yet to sign his rookie contract. Over the weekend, beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot reported that Judkins could return to the team as early as this week. After not practicing or conditioning with the team, dynasty managers should expect a slow start to the season, whenever the youngster does join the Browns. We expect veteran Jerome Ford and fellow-rookie Dylan Sampson to split touches until Judkins is at full speed. Ford is a complementary back while Sampson is undersized. The situation is set up for Judkins to be the primary ball carrier. One limiting factor will be the few red-zone opportunities afforded by this Cleveland offense.
Dynasty News, RB Jaylen Wright, Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins' running back corps has been decimated by injuries before the season has commenced. First, Alexander Mattison was lost for the year. De'Von Achane and his expected backup, Jaylen Wright, have battled injuries of their own throughout training camp. Achane is expected to be ok, but Wright will miss extended action. Beat reporter, Barry Jackson, tweeted a quote from the head coach.
Dolphins sign RBs Wilson and Hasty... Jaylen Wright had surgery and could be back "Septemberish", MCDaniel said. Not out for season

Jeff Wilson Jr. will add depth behind rookie Ollie Gordon II, who has flashed this preseason. Gordon had a great 2023 campaign but battled injuries in 2024. He looks healthy and ready to contribute.
