Welcome to the Dynasty Trading Post, where we examine optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations every week, providing examples and completed dynasty trades.

This week, we'll focus on a sweeping change in the Chiefs' passing game plus the continued rise of Washington's rookie running back.

WRs Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown, Chiefs

Theme of the Week: Exploit Injury Adjustments

Xavier Worthy's shoulder injury turned his Week 1 into a dud fantasy outing, ending his day on the Chiefs' opening drive. Worthy will attempt to play with a shoulder harness, but surgery, whether soon or in the offseason, is a mandate. The track record of playing through his injury for any decent duration is spotty at best. Marquise Brown was the direct benefactor, collecting the most targets in the NFL in Week 1 and being the focal point of the Chiefs' passing game. Marquise Brown has more than a month before Rashee Rice returns, a golden opportunity to bolster fantasy lineups, if he can stay healthy.

Here are a few key trades involving the notable Chiefs wide receivers:

The general recommendation is to buy Worthy with exploratory offers now. But if teams are holding firm, there is a good possibility Worthy is shut down to have surgery even if attempting to return to play for now. Once shut down for the season, there is another window to buy, especially from contending teams. Marquise Brown goes both ways in the trade market. Buying for an ancillary running back or a buried Jack Bech type makes plenty of sense with any wide receiver weakness or need on a dynasty roster. Using Brown as a stepping stone (adding a good amount to get to Emeka Egbuka) or selling for a future 2nd and a decent add-on (Eli Ayomanor) are recent exit example trades.
