Top 10 DraftKings DFS Plays for NFL Week 8

Cardinals at Cowboys is the game to build around on DraftKings this week. It carries a 54.5 point total, tied with Ravens at Bills for the highest on the main slate, and Dallas owns the top implied team total at around 30.75 points as a 6.5 to 7 point favorite. Both quarterbacks in that game are priced reasonably, and Arizona's defense has been one of the most generous in the league. Health is the other big story. Lamar Jackson is back at full practice, Breece Hall is trying to return from a quad injury, and Jahmyr Gibbs had a brief scare with his shoulder midweek. Below are 10 plays worth building around, broken down by position with the reasoning behind each one.

Quarterback

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys, $6,300 (vs. Arizona)

Prescott has 13 touchdown passes in seven games, and he's coming off a three touchdown night on just 27 attempts in Monday's 38-21 win at Philadelphia. The matchup is about as good as it gets. Arizona has allowed 2.4 passing touchdowns per game, fourth most in the league, and the fourth most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Dallas has turned 71.4 percent of its red zone trips into touchdowns, second best in the NFL. At $6,300 he's well below Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, and he projects as the best value at the position.

Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals, $5,700 (at Dallas)

Brissett is the cheaper way into the same game. His efficiency hasn't been great, and he averaged only 5.7 yards per attempt last week while going 27 for 48 for 272 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Denver. What he does offer is volume. He's thrown at least 40 passes in 10 of his 19 starts with Arizona, and the Cardinals are going to be throwing from behind as touchdown underdogs. Dallas ranks near the bottom of the league against the pass and has allowed the eighth most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Before Denver, he scored 26.3 and 25.6 DraftKings points against Detroit and San Francisco. Pairing him with Prescott, Lamb or Trey McBride gives you a full game stack for very little salary.

Running Back

Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions, $9,500 (vs. Minnesota)

Gibbs missed Wednesday's practice with a shoulder issue, then returned to a full session Thursday, which should settle any concern about his availability. His workload last week was enormous. He had 29 carries for 116 yards and five catches for 27 yards on a season high 90 percent of the snaps against Green Bay, 34 touches in all. It was the first time all season he didn't score. On the year he has 620 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, plus 32 catches for 270 yards and two more scores. The matchup is the toughest he's seen, since Minnesota has allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to running backs. With that kind of volume, he's still the safest expensive running back on the board.

Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars, $5,900 (vs. Indianapolis)

Tuten has beaten his salary based expectations in five straight games and has topped 80 scrimmage yards in four straight. His last game was a good example of his floor. Houston held him to 39 yards on 12 carries, but he caught all four targets for 48 yards and two touchdowns. His share of Jacksonville's carries has climbed from 54 percent to 71 percent over his last three games, and he's getting more of the short yardage work. The Jaguars are 9.5 point favorites with an implied total around 28, and the Colts have been selling off veterans, including defensive tackle DeForest Buckner. He's coming off a bye and is one of the best values at the position.

Breece Hall, New York Jets, $6,000 (vs. Las Vegas)

Hall is the monitor play of the week. He strained his quad in Week 3 and has missed the last four games, and he was a limited participant at practice Wednesday. If he's active, he likely won't get a full workload in his first game back. Braelon Allen has been very good in his absence, with 354 yards and a touchdown over the last three weeks, so a timeshare is the most likely outcome. The upside is the matchup. Las Vegas allows the seventh most fantasy points to running backs, gives up 124.9 rushing yards per game, and has allowed seven rushing touchdowns in seven games. Allen is also limited with an ankle injury, which could tilt more work to Hall. Wait for Friday's designation and the inactives before you lock him in, and treat him as a tournament play rather than a cash game piece.
