Drumbeat or Dead End? More OTA and Minicamp Believe it or Nots

Bob Harris's Drumbeat or Dead End? More OTA and Minicamp Believe it or Nots Bob Harris Published 06/11/2026

As we move into June, the 2026 NFL Organized Team Activities (OTAs) are underway, marking Phase 3 of the offseason workout program that began last month. These voluntary, non-contact sessions include 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills meant to prepare players for training camp in late July. Mandatory minicamps that follow in mid-June add to that preparation.

For fantasy investors, it's time to start watching the Footballguys Newsfeed to identify and stay on top of the drumbeats that will inform our draft values later this summer. That means looking past the hyperbolic headlines and reporting that's often far more definitive than the actual information suggests.

It's time to read between the lines and figure out what's worth believing, and what isn't.

On Monday, we got the ball rolling with a look at Jahmyr Gibbs' anticipated workload. Yesterday, it was Saquon Barkley dealing with a new scheme in Philly. On Wednesday, it was the 49ers talking about dialing back on Christian McCaffrey's workload.

Today? Let's roll through a batch of quick hitters to get them on your radar . . .

Dolphins | De'Von Achane to be limited at minicamp | Wed., June 3

Achane will only participate in individual drills during the mandatory minicamp this week, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.

Achane, who had cleanup surgery on his shoulder after the season, will be limited to individual drills in mandatory minicamp. Since the goal is to have him ready for training camp, going easy on him at this point makes sense.

Achane's issue is minor: Believe it or not?

The Dolphins signed Achane to a four-year, $64 million contract extension last month. It's unlikely they would have made that commitment if they weren't confident in his long-term health, so he should be moving full speed ahead soon enough.

What does that mean for us?

GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and Hafley have insisted that Achane is a building block for the future. Their investment proves it. Expect the team to continue relying on Achane to handle the same high-volume role the previous regime did.

The 2023 third-round pick has scored either 11 or 12 touchdowns in each of his three seasons. He posted a career-high 1,838 scrimmage yards in 2025.

Achane has also finished in the top five among backs in targets and receiving yards in each of the past two years, and his Footballguys RB6 projection reflects all of that.

Packers | Josh Jacobs back at OTAs | Tues., June 2

USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

Jacobs was at the team's practice last Tuesday, and coach Matt LaFleur told reporters that it is "business as usual" for the veteran back.

Jacobs was arrested on May 26 after police responded to an alleged domestic violence incident a few days earlier. Prosecutors said last week there has been no decision about formally filing criminal charges against Jacobs, who missed practice time as those matters played out.

For now, his availability for the start of the season appears secure, cementing his role as Green Bay's primary early-down and goal-line hammer.

This incident won't impact Jacobs' season: Believe it or not?

I'm starting to believe it. More importantly, Footballguys legal analyst Drew Davenport also believes it.

"Jacobs is a volatile fantasy asset right now," Davenport wrote. "But if a fantasy manager wants to acquire or draft Jacobs, it's reasonable to think that Jacobs either escapes charges altogether or any suspension will be delayed until 2027 or beyond while the legal process plays out.

"The situation is risky, but not untenable. As long as fantasy drafters understand the gamble they're taking, Jacobs still appears poised to have 2026 fantasy viability."

Last season, Jacobs scored 14 total touchdowns (13 rushing) and totaled 1,211 yards in 15 games.

His current Footballguys projection calls for an RB14 finish. That falls in line with his current RB16 Average Draft Position (ADP). Jacobs is being drafted in the middle of the third round, with the 28th pick overall. While the latest developments may be the end of the story, the risk vs. reward ratio works for me.

If you're playing for edges, MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks are next men up, but Davenport has this exactly right: Jacobs will be on the field this season.

Giants | Cam Skattebo takes part in full-team drills | Tues., June 9
