5 Dynasty WR Buys After the NFL Draft

Chad Parsons's 5 Dynasty WR Buys After the NFL Draft Chad Parsons Published 05/23/2023

The NFL Draft has shifted values for rookies and veterans alike at wide receiver to offer opportunities in trading within the inexpensive range of the position. The offseason is the perfect time to upgrade profiles, consolidate, and use wide receiver depth to enhance a dynasty lineup. Here are the notable profiles and price points to target as sell candidates in the trade market:

DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

Price Range: WR15-20

Why: Metcalf has been a top-24 finisher in each of the past three seasons, including a WR6 career peak. By career arc comps, Metcalf has a 56% probability for another top-12 season in his career and is a near-lock for another top-36 year. Metcalf's 1.95 yards-per-route-run is one of the strongest in the NFL, and Geno Smith's new contract, plus Seattle not addressing the quarterback spot, point to optimism for Metcalf and Smith's connection in the short term. Metcalf is priced near his floor this offseason.

Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers

Price Range: WR30-40

Why: George Pickens' rookie season has caused Johnson's dynasty market to sag down to WR40 in some spots. Pickens' WR53 aPPG finish in 2022 is overcooked in his impact on Diontae Johnson, as Johnson has WR7 and WR18 finishes among his first four seasons. Johnson's 22% open targets per route run rate is one of the best in the NFL for active receivers and is also above average after the catch with a 0.17 missed tackle rate. Johnson is going for less than Pickens in plenty of dynasty trades despite having out-produced Pickens' 2022 season over each of the past three years.
