Welcome to the Dynasty Trading Post, where we examine optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations every week with real-world completed dynasty trades.
This week, we will look at opportunities in the marketplace with the most-traded running backs in dynasty.
All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise.
RB Ollie Gordon II, Dolphins
Ollie Gordon II started for the injured De'Von Achane with minimal expectations, potentially ceding the opportunity to Jaylen Wright or floundering on a hapless Miami team. Neither has occurred, as Gordon has impressed with the starting role, posting games of 88, 100, and 103 rushing yards, respectively. Wright has yet to impede Gordon's workload at all, and Wright himself is injured. The upside is that the starting role for Gordon can extend all the way through the end of the season as Achane is out until 2027. That runway cannot be understated as, even if he reverts to a clear RB2 role, he will have provided most of a season as a starter and will recede to a valuable primary handcuff projection. While the Miami offense and situation are not ideal for massive upside, as the Dolphins are dead-last in running back targets, Gordon relies more on volume and touchdown opportunities and has succeeded with both. Gordon can be an easy sell recommendation for teams out of the playoff race given that he is less likely to help dynasty teams in 2027 than 2026, but also a buy for contending teams if the price is palatable to bolster their running back depth charts.
Instructive Dynasty Trades
Buying Ollie Gordon II
- Gordon, J.K. Dobbins for 27 2nd
- Gordon, Daniel Jones for Jayden Reed, 27 2nd
- Gordon for Seth McGowan, 27 3rd, 27 4th
- Gordon for Josh Downs
Selling Ollie Gordon II
- Gordon, Jaylen Warren for 28 1st
- Gordon, 27 3rd for Baker Mayfield
- Gordon, Tre Tucker for Breece Hall
The market to buy Gordon centers around a 2nd-round pick, rarely drifting to a 1st or a 3rd on either side. Asking for another potentially helpful piece of low cost (like Dobbins) is a good starting offer, and the counter may land on Gordon alone for the pick. Shopping Gordon to contenders as a non-contender (2-5 record or worse) makes sense. However, seek an upgrade like the examples above instead of merely a contender's Round 2 pick. Target injured players, a future 1st (even if adding to Gordon on your side), or an underproducer.
