Welcome to the Dynasty Trading Post, where we examine optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations every week with real-world completed dynasty trades.

This week, we will look at opportunities in the marketplace with Lamar Jackson and Jonah Coleman.

All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise.

QB Lamar Jackson, Ravens

Lamar Jackson's latest injury projects to end his fantasy season. After a clunky 2025 season, that's two seasons in a row marred by injury. In his late 20s, many will downgrade Jackson in dynasty due to age and a lack of recent production. A freak thumb injury and a hamstring injury last year do not point to an injury-prone player.

Little has changed with Jackson, however, as his scramble rate this season was in line with his career mark. His 2.00 Big-Time Throw Ratio is even better than his career average in the 1.40-1.50 range (one of the best among active quarterbacks). Jackson's completion rate, yards per attempt, and pressure-to-sack rate are all better than his career averages this season.

With question marks surrounding Jackson at this sensitive moment, it marks a buying opportunity. Lamar Jackson has two NFL MVP awards before age 30. The list is extremely short, with only Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, and Patrick Mahomes II on that list. Kurt Warner and Aaron Rodgers narrowly missed the age 30 cutoff. In short, Jackson is the most elite company.

Buying Lamar Jackson

Selling Lamar Jackson

The market to buy is more prominent than selling Lamar Jackson following his hand injury, which is projected to keep him out for the rest of the fantasy season. For dynasty teams at 3-5 or worse, targeting Jackson is an easy yes to improve a dynasty roster for the future. Contending teams are a more nuanced answer, as acquiring Jackson while also contending this year is the optimal "have your cake and eat it too" scenario. If giving a notable quarterback for Jackson in the trade, following up with trading for a Geno Smith or Aaron Rodgers type can blend the two macro goals.
