News About AFC Teams

Denver Broncos News

The Broncos acquired WR Jaylen Waddle and a 2026 fourth-round pick from the Dolphins for a 2026 first-round pick, a 2026 third-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick.

Why It Matters: The Broncos are in both a Super Bowl window and a quarterback on a rookie contract window, so they can afford to carry the big cap numbers that Waddle and Courtland Sutton will have in the coming years (~60 million a year in 2027 and 2028). Waddle will have a bigger impact than the players the team would have taken with those picks, but the acquisition is an admission that second-day spending on Marvin Mims Jr.Troy Franklin, and Pat Bryant in the last three drafts has not produced the result Sean Payton was hoping for. Waddle's fantasy value probably won't be higher than it would have been as the clear No. 1 in Miami, even with a low-volume Malik Willis-led pass offense. Waddle will get fewer targets than Sutton, but he will get more deep shots, so the fantasy value of the top two Broncos receivers will be close.

Houston Texans News

The Texans signed OT Wyatt Teller (Cleveland) to a two-year, $16 million deal and OL Evan Brown (Arizona) to a one-year, $3.5 million deal.

Why It Matters: With these moves, the earliest additions of Braden Smith and Evan Brown, and the offseason trades of Tytus Howard and Juice Scruggs, GM Nick Caserio has turned over almost the entire roster on the offensive line. We should expect the Texans' offense to improve in 2026, given the hit rate so far on Caserio's offensive moves and the recent track record of the new faces.

Kansas City Chiefs News

The Chiefs traded a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Jets for QB Justin Fields.

Why It Matters: There's a non-zero chance Fields starts Week 1, and Fields will be the first team quarterback during OTAs while Patrick Mahomes II recovers from knee surgery following a catastrophic knee injury on December 14, 2025. Fields could also be the first team quarterback for most or all of the preseason. Expect the Chiefs to put free agent signing Ken Walker III at the center of the game plan for any time that Fields is under center. That the Chiefs were willing to pay $3 million of Fields' guaranteed $10 million salary and give the Jets a draft pick shows that they wanted him and may see something in Fields that the Bears, Steelers, and Jets haven't brought out.

Los Angeles Chargers News

Daniel Popper of The Athletic believes new RB Keaton Mitchell "will thrive" in Mike McDaniel's offense, and that new TE Charlie Kolar will "allow Oronde Gadsden to play in a role that maximizes his receiving skill set".

Why It Matters: The context is a piece about the Chargers' commitment to new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel this offseason, which is a big deal for fantasy football. The Dolphins' offseason broke efficiency charts with big play frequency in 2023, and that was with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. If McDaniel works his magic with Justin Herbert, the quarterback and multiple pieces of the offense will be big hits in fantasy football. We shouldn't discount Mitchell and Gadsden as possibilities. Mitchell can break the long runs that made De'Von Achane a fantasy star in Miami, and Gadsden could inherit a lot of Keenan Allen's vacated targets if McDaniel prefers two-tight-end to three-wide-receiver sets.

Miami Dolphins News

The Dolphins traded WR Jaylen Waddle and a fourth-round pick to the Broncos for Denver's 2026 first, third, and fourth-round picks.

Why It Matters: The rebuild is in full swing, as the Dolphins have about $175 million in dead cap on the books now following this deal. It makes sense for them, as Waddle will be into his 30's before the team is a contender again. Malik Washington is the top incumbent receiver, but the team added Tutu Atwell and Jalen Tolbert in free agency. Greg Dulcich was also brought back, and he's the most likely current Dolphin to be relevant in fantasy leagues. The pass offense will be low volume in any event with Malik Willis at quarterback, but if the team doesn't trade De'Von Achane, he'll lead the Dolphins in targets, giving him a good chance to deliver on his late first/early second round ADP.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that teams asking about RB De'Von Achane's trade availability have been told that he is "not available".

Why It Matters: We heard similar things about Jaylen Waddle before he was dealt, so we aren't closing our minds to this possibility. Seattle was rumored to be interested in trading for Achane last season. If the Seahawks pay up for Achane, his fantasy value would get a nitro boost.

Tennessee Titans News

WR Calvin Ridley agreed to an $8.75 million pay cut to stay with the Titans.

Why It Matters: Many had projected the team to release Ridley because of his $19+ million salary, which was only partially guaranteed. Instead, Ridley took a pay cut, but the Titans also guaranteed more money than they would have paid Ridley if they had released him. Tennessee is likely to add a receiver or two in the draft, but they also added Wan'Dale Robinson in free agency and have a pair of 2025 fourth-round picks who got a lot of seasoning in Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor. This is good news for Cam Ward and a sign that the Titans and Ridley both see Tennessee as a team capable of competing in the AFC South in 2026.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said he would be "surprised" if the Titans selected Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love with the fourth pick, and that the "watch starts at 5 with the Giants and it's on from 1.05 through 1.09 (Kansas City)".

Why It Matters: Draft season is lying season, so we should take with this a grain of salt. Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears aren't under contract in 2027, and Love would add another dimension to the offense to support Cam Ward's development. If Schefter is right, the Giants and Commanders are the most likely landing spots, but it is worth noting that he didn't eliminate the Chiefs after they signed Ken Walker III, which means he may believe the Saints could also still be in play for Love at 1.08 even though they signed Travis Etienne Jr.
