NFL trade rumors swirl. From Jonathan Taylor to Derrick Henry, we have seen more featured fantasy pieces mentioned in rumors than in any year in memory.
Of course, talk is free; trades involve willing partners.
So far, the Cardinals have been willing to part with Jacoby Brissett. Calling Brissett a fantasy-relevant trade says much more about the desperate state of the Ravens quarterback position than anything else. The Cardinals are surprisingly competitive at 3-5, while 4-5 Baltimore is equally surprising but much more disappointing. Besides Marvin Harrison Jr. and J.J. McCarthy, that's about it.
Deadlines spur action, and teams have another week to gather information before they must pull the trigger. The Ravens show how quickly things change. A month ago, they were 4-1. A week ago, they were 4-3 and welcoming Lamar Jackson back from injury.
Now?
They are one game better than Arizona.
Reality hits hard. The Colts, Jets, Dolphins, and Chargers are Week 9 underdogs. One more week of the predicted results will put them face-to-face with the reality of their 2026 seasons, just as the deadline arrives.
The Ravens show how quickly buyers and sellers can flip.
Number Watch
Josh Allen, Buffalo
9 Rushing Yards - 5,000 Career Rushing Yards
2 Rushing Touchdowns - 90 Rushing Touchdowns - Eric Dickerson & Curtis Martin, 14th All Time
Allen should cross the 5,000 career rushing yard mark. He would become the fifth quarterback to rush for 5,000 yards. The other four: Lamar Jackson (6,666), Mike Vick (6,109), Cam Newton (5,628), and Russell Wilson (5,568).
Allen can quickly climb the career rushing touchdown leaderboard, as two players are tied for 14th. Jerome Bettis and Franco Harris are tied for 12th at 91. Allen has 9 rushing touchdowns through 7 games, putting him on pace for 21.8, smashing the current single-season quarterback record of 15 he shares with Jalen Hurts.
Allen has the chance to do something rare for an active player who currently sits inside the Top 5 in franchise rushing yards. He could move down the all-time standings. James Cook III trails him by just 25 yards, with the two at 4th and 5th.
Keenan Allen, Indianapolis
3 Receptions - Tim Brown, 1,094 Receptions / Cris Carter - 1,101 Receptions / Marvin Harrison Jr. - 1,102 Receptions
Allen has moved into the pocket Travis Kelce occupied earlier in the season, giving him the chance to jump from 9th to 6th on the career list as early as Week 9.
Kelce is still a fair distance from any milestones, while the other two veteran pass catchers high on the career list, Davante Adams and Mike Evans, will be inactive in Week 9.
Kirk Cousins, Las Vegas
179 Passing Yards - Fran Tarkenton, 47,003 Yards, 15th
Cousins can jump two spots on the career list in Week 9, passing Russell Wilson before Tarkenton. Tarkenton’s mark holds particular significance; it was the NFL record from 1978 until Dan Marino broke it in 1995.
Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit
3 Touchdowns - Herman Moore, 62 Touchdowns, 3rd in Lions History
Gibbs is rapidly ascending the Lions record books, passing Altie Taylor to move into fourth in Lions career rushing yards in Week 8. Next up? Career touchdowns. Barry Sanders (109) and Calvin Johnson (62) hold the Top 2 spots.
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay
2 Passing Touchdowns - 100 Buccaneers Touchdown Passes
53 Passing Yards - Trent Dilfer, 12,969, 5th in Buccaneers history
Mayfield can move into the Buccaneers Top 5 in career yards with 53. The same was true entering Week 8, when they became the first team to win without completing a pass since 1974. Mayfield can become the third Buccaneer with 100 touchdown passes. Jameis Winston holds the team record with 121, while Tom Brady has 108.
Of course, the Week 8 performance creates the opportunity for an unprecedented streak. Mayfield has 7 completions and 64 yards combined over the last two weeks. The Buccaneers have won those games by a combined 59-13.
George Kittle, San Francisco
139 Receiving Yards - Terrell Owens, 8,572 Receiving Yards, 2nd in San Francisco History
Kittle is second in 49ers franchise receptions and has the chance to do the same in yards. He is coming off a season-high 88 yards against Atlanta in Week 7.
Kittle needs 2 touchdowns to tie Gene Washington for 3rd in franchise history.
Revenge!
Do revenge games matter? For some players, absolutely. For others, it’s a fun side story. Each week, we look at players who have something extra.
