RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Commanders
Known as 'Bill', Croskey-Merritt has had a meteoric rise from one of the last picks in the 2025 NFL Draft to escorting Brian Robinson Jr. to be traded to San Francisco four months later. Croskey-Merritt was undrafted in many rookie drafts in May (or at least Round 4) to now, where he is worth more than a second-round selection. Dynasty teams have plenty of options to cash out, or can ride the likely RB1/2 in Washington early in the season.
Instructive Dynasty Trades
- JCM, Dont'e Thornton Jr., 26 3rd for Kaleb Johnson, Isaac TeSlaa
- JCM, Travis Kelce for 27 1st
- JCM, 26 3rd for 26 2nd, 28 2nd
- JCM for Jordan Addison
There are multiple advanced strategies involved in these dynasty trades. The first trade (Kaleb Johnson, etc.) involves trusting your priors, as Johnson was a Round 1 rookie pick in May and TeSlaa in Round 3. Receiving both players for the cost of two players, likely in Round 4 (or undrafted). Using Croskey-Merritt to acquire a future 1st (regardless of how far out for the pick) or multiple 2nds is a wise insulation move. Even if Croskey-Merritt is the 1A option over Austin Ekeler and Chris Rodriguez Jr., he is an older rookie with minimal pedigree, and there will be skeptics to pay that price in-season even though he is productive. Finally, shifting to Jordan Addison incorporates sell-high and buy-low principles as Addison is set to miss the first three games of the season due to suspension.
WR Ricky Pearsall, 49ers
Ricky Pearsall has substantially increased in value from drifting to Round 2 of rookie drafts in the summer of 2024. Since then, Brandon Aiyuk sustained a significant injury, which is projected to keep him out until midseason, and possibly limit him for longer this year. Jauan Jennings sustained a calf injury and is embroiled in a contract dispute. Demarcus Robinson is suspended for the first three games of the season. Add to the optimism that Pearsall flashed with two strong games to end his rookie season after a slow start and recovering from a gunshot wound.
- Pearsall, Jayden Reed, Zay Flowers for Ashton Jeanty
- Pearsall, Jordan Addison for Marvin Harrison Jr., Isaac Guerrendo
- Pearsall, Ollie Gordon II for Kyren Williams
- Pearsall, Travis Hunter for Drake London
Aiming high when selling hot commodities is a crucial approach for a dynasty team. Instead of selling Pearsall for multiple non-Round 1 picks or a collection of middle-of-the-road assets, shoot for the best player in the deal. All of these trades are constructed with the theme of adding to Ricky Pearsall to get the best player in the trade.
