These contests are intended to be fun as you're watching the game. It's incredibly difficult to get a real edge as there are so few options, and in MME contests, there are often many duplicate lineups. One play or one penalty can change the entire outcome of the game.

Detroit Lions Showdown Players
Quarterback
Jared Goff - Flex
The Lions made a statement last week against their former offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson, putting up 52 points in a decisive blowout. Jared Goff played great. He completed 82.1% of his passes and threw for 334 yards and 5 touchdowns. Message received. Even if the Lions' offense regresses without Johnson, it won't be to a meaningful degree. Goff ranked second in passing yards per game (274.9) and fourth in pass touchdowns per game (2.3) and led a Lions offense that ranked third in EPA/Play a season ago. This week's contest features the highest game total of the week, and the Ravens' pass defense has struggled at times over the past few years. They ranked just 20th in Dropback EPA Allowed in 2024.
Running Back/Wide Receiver/Tight End
Jahmyr Gibbs - Captain/Flex
Through two weeks, Jahmyr Gibbs has played on 61.1% of snaps and run a route on 59.7% of dropbacks. Compare that to David Montgomery, who has played on 38.1% of snaps and has a 27.8% route rate. Gibbs ranks 18th in opportunities per game (17), and Montgomery ranks 26th in opportunities per game (13.5). Gibbs is a rare difference-making talent with outlier 4.36 40-yard dash speed. He put up 1,929 total yards and 20 touchdowns last season at just 22 years old. He's by far and away the better play here, rendering Montgomery a likely overowned RB2 on this slate.
Amon-Ra St. Brown - Captain/Flex
Amon-Ra St. Brown flourished in the blowout last week, catching 9 of 11 targets for 115 yards and 3 touchdowns. He's an elite talent who, entering this season, racked up 340 receptions, 3,939 receiving yards, and 28 touchdowns over the past three seasons. He's an extremely tough fade in the best fantasy game of the week in a projected favorable matchup against Marlon Humphrey.
Jameson Williams - Flex
Jameson Williams put up the perfect Jameson Williams stat line last week, catching just 2 of 4 targets but turning those two receptions into 108 yards and 1 touchdown. He had five touchdowns of 50+ yards last season, including the postseason. He's an electric athlete who offers speed and dynamic yards after the catch ability. Williams just went over 1,000 yards on just 91 targets and 58 catches in 15 games last season. He has an extremely high ceiling within his range of outcomes every week, and especially in this awesome fantasy game.
Sam LaPorta - Flex
Sam LaPorta is a very good player. He's an amazing athlete. He dominated production in college when factoring in the low-volume passing offense he played in. He ranks tied for second on the team in targets (13), has played on 88.1% of snaps, and ran a route on 81.9% of dropbacks through two weeks.
Isaac TeSlaa - Flex
Isaac TeSlaa played just three snaps (4.5%) in Week 1. He caught a highlight reel touchdown. His playing time then increased to a 28.8% snap share and 11 routes run. He caught another highlight reel pass down the sideline. TeSlaa has good height and weight at 6'3.5", 214 pounds, and he's one of the most athletic receivers to ever test at the combine. That size and athleticism are very intriguing, and so far, albeit in limited playing time, he looks like a massive hit based on his preseason and early-season production. TeSlaa's playing time should be expected to continue to grow, making him an intriguing cheap play in this one-game Showdown.
