Week 16 Offensive Sleepers

Sigmund Bloom's Week 16 Offensive Sleepers Sigmund Bloom Published 12/22/2022

Quarterback

Gardner Minshew, Philadelphia (at Dallas)

Don’t be shy about starting Minshew this week. Before the Jaguars gave up on life as a team, Minshew was actually a serviceable fantasy quarterback in a much worse offense. This game won’t be affected by weather, and the new-look Jaguars took apart the Cowboys pass defense last week. Minshew will get Dallas Goedert back to help even more.

Daniel Jones, NY Giants (at Minnesota)

If the Giants defense plays the way they did last week vs. Washington, the offense could become hyper-conservative again and make Jones a fantasy dud. If the Vikings can move the ball consistently, then Jones will be able to attack a vulnerable pass defense and try to make good things happen as a runner outside of structure. A shootout is possible here, and the game won’t be affected by the weather.

Russell Wilson, Denver (at LA Rams)

If you have to dig deep this week, consider Wilson, who was playing some of his best football as a Bronco before leaving two weeks ago with a concussion. This is yet another game that will not be affected by weather, and the Rams defense has become very beatable without Aaron Donald. The only fear here is Baker Mayfield doesn’t do enough to force the Broncos to rely on Wilson at least a bit before handing it over to Latavius Murray and the running game.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay (at Miami)

Rodgers hasn’t had any true ceiling games this season, but perhaps he saved the best for next-to-last. Notice a theme here, as this game should have okay football weather, so we don’t have to worry about the conditions limiting production. If the Packers can’t slow down Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins pass offense, Rodgers will have to open up the Green Bay pass offense, which just got Romeo Doubs back, so the wide receiver group is healthy, and they are a lot more experienced than they were at the beginning of the season.
