Two of my favorite things are Best Ball and DRAFTERS, and each week this offseason, I want to share with you my insights on both. With DRAFTERS releasing their main event tournament, excitement has been growing each day ever since. Each week, I want to break down what has changed from the previous week regarding NFL news, Best Ball news, and the top ADP Risers and Fallers on DRAFTERS. It's useful to compare Best Ball to the stock market and day trading stocks, but instead of stocks, we are examining NFL players, specifically their Average Draft Position (ADP). We continually strive to identify players of value in our drafts and avoid those who may be overvalued.
Each week, I will use updated DRAFTERS data to show the APD movement of the top risers and fallers on the site. ADP is often driven by the news that week and what some of the major touts in the industry might be saying about said players, and the result will be a shift in the ADP market
Let's look at last week's data (8/19-8/27) and find the top 10 Risers and Fallers for the past week:
DRAFTERS Weekly Best Ball Top 10 Risers
Position | Player | Team | ADP Rise |
---|---|---|---|
RB | Jacory Croskey-Merritt | WAS | 46.8 |
RB | Ollie Gordon II | MIA | 46.2 |
RB | Chris Rodriguez Jr. | WAS | 43.1 |
RB | Austin Ekeler | WAS | 28.1 |
WR | Troy Franklin | DEN | 28.1 |
QB | Daniel Jones | IND | 21.3 |
WR | Isaac TeSlaa | DET | 20.7 |
TE | Cade Otton | TB | 20.2 |
WR | Amari Cooper | LV | 18.6 |
WR | Elic Ayomanor | TEN | 18.5 |
Other names on the rise (11-20 ADP Risers): Harold Fannin Jr., Roman Wilson, Braelon Allen, Pat Bryant, Spencer Rattler, Dont'e Thornton Jr., John Metchie III, Tyquan Thornton, Malik Washington, and Emeka Egbuka.
The Risers Takeaways: Jacory Crosky-Merritt continues his climb in ADP as the path just became clearer now with Brian Robinson Jr out of the picture in Washington. He has continued to impress in camp, and now the depth chart has opened up for him. Three of the top four risers this week are all Washington running backs, as both Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Austin Ekeler are two of the biggest risers in ADP this week. They will all continue to rise as drafts wind down to start the season.
Ollie Gordon II is making big splashes this week as well, as he is up 46.2 spots at ADP, as he has looked well in camp and now looks to have the RB2 role in Miami. The wide receiver position in Denver has opened up now that the team has traded Devaughn Vele to New Orleans. As a result, Troy Franklin may have more opportunities, and his ADP has risen by 28.1 spots. Daniel Jones is the lone quarterback on the risers this week, as he has been named the starter for the Colts in Week 1 and for the season.
At tight end, we see a rise in ADP with Cade Otton as the Tampa Bay receivers took a hit at the receiver position with injuries to the depth chart. Now, Otton looks like the third target in that passing offense. We have three more wide receivers in the risers with rookies Isaac TeSlaa and Elic Ayomanor and veteran Amari Cooper. TeSlaa has shown really well in camp and preseason action, and Ayomanor looks to be the WR3-4 in Tennessee. The Raiders just signed Cooper, and he looks to have a role right out of the gate to start the season.
