Someone once asked me, "You do a lot of writing, do you ever get writer's block?" My initial reaction was "no, the NFL changes so much weekly, there is always something new to drive topics."
But the brain is a funny thing. Mentioning writer's block to a writer feels like saying the yips to a golfer or a perfect game to a pitcher. It is easy for the brain to hyperfocus on an idea until it adapts that idea. Luckily, there are crutches available to squish any stalled movement. Ideas that are guaranteed to spark creative thought. Ideas to get an article in when you are late, because you definitely did not have writer's block. Ideas like…

Stats Of The Week
Brock Bowers, Las Vegas - 12 Receptions, 127 Receiving Yards, 3 Touchdowns
Oh, how we missed you. Bowers became the first player since Ja'Marr Chase in Week 5, 2023, to record 12+ receptions, 125+ yards, and 3+ touchdowns. There have been 21 games in NFL history that have hit those thresholds, and Bowers is the first Raider to do it. Bowers is the fifth tight end with this level of game; the last was Shannon Sharpe in 1996.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle - 8 Receptions, 129 Receiving Yards
Smith-Njigba topped 120 receiving yards for the fourth straight game. That represents a nine-player tie for the third-longest streak in NFL history. AJ Brown has the longest, a six-game streak in 2023. Calvin Johnson is second with five in 2012.
Smith-Njigba has 948 yards through the first eight games of 2025, the eighth most in NFL history over that span to start a season. Tyreek Hill was at 1,014 in 2023 and 961 in 2022 during the same stretch.
Smith-Njigba is on pace for a 123-reception, 2,014-yard, 8.5-touchdown season. The Seahawks team season records are 100 catches, 1,303 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Smith-Njigba recorded his sixth 100-yard game of 2025, which ties Steve Largent for the most in a Seahawks season.
Joe Flacco, Cincinnati - 470 Passing Yards, 4 Touchdowns
Tee Higgins, Cincinnati - 7 Receptions, 121 Yards, 2 Touchdowns
Flacco set a new career high with 470 passing yards. His previous high was 389 in 2011. The total tied C.J. Stroud and Dan Marino for the 53rd-highest total in NFL history and is the highest in 2025. It is the fourth most in Bengals team history. Flacco now has 270 career passing touchdowns. He needs three more to tie Joe Montana for 20th on the career list.
Higgins scored in his ninth straight home game, joining Jerry Rice and Cris Carter as the only players to score in nine straight at home. Higgins had his first 100-yard game of 2025. He was WR44 over his first six games. He has been WR2 over his last three with Flacco at quarterback. Teammate Ja'Marr Chase has been WR1 over the same stretch.
Kyle Monangai, Chicago - 26 Rush Attempts, 176 Rushing Yards, 3 Receptions, 22 Receiving Yards
Colston Loveland, Chicago - 6 Receptions, 118 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving Touchdowns
Caleb Williams, Chicago - 280 Passing Yards, 3 Passing Touchdowns, 53 Rushing Yards, 2 Receptions, 22 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving Touchdown
Williams, welcome to the Taysom Hill zone of weird stat lines. He became the first in NFL history with 280 passing yards, three touchdown passes, 50 rushing yards, and two receptions. He is also the first with 280 - 3 - 50 and a touchdown reception. When we get a player who was the first to accomplish something, we get to lower the filters to see when another joins the list.
Removing the passing touchdown filter keeps him as the only player with 280+ passing yards, 50+ rushing yards, and a receiving touchdown. Cam Newton is the only other player with three passing touchdowns, 50+ rushing yards, and a receiving touchdown. Newton threw for 242 yards in that week 17, 2021 game. Removing the rushing yardage filter keeps the list at just Williams. Removing all but the 280 passing yards and receiving touchdown filters gives a list of four other quarterbacks: Josh Allen, Jared Goff, Matt Ryan, and Blake Bortles. There have been six players who have thrown three touchdowns and caught one: Williams, Newton, Jim McMahon, Frank Ryan, Deshaun Watson, and Ray Buivid. Williams, McMahon, and Buivid all did it for the Bears.
Monangai's 176 rushing yards were the second most by a rookie in team history, behind Anthony Thomas's 188 in Week 6, 2001. The last rookie in the NFL to hit 176 yards was De'Von Achane in Week 3, 2023.
Loveland's 118 yards are the most by a Bears rookie since Anthony Miller in 2018. Mike Ditka is the only other Bears rookie tight end with a 118-yard game. Cole Kmet and Trey Burton are the only other Bears tight ends with a 100-yard game since 2015.
Drake London, Atlanta - 9 Receptions, 118 Yards, 3 Touchdowns
London joined Bowers with 9+ receptions, 110+ yards, and 3+ touchdowns. Andre Rison and Terance Mathis are the only other Falcons to have a game hitting those thresholds. London needs 66 receiving yards to move past Wallace Francis, into the Top 10 for Falcons franchise career receiving yards. Bowers hit 9+, 110+, and 3+ in his monster game. Amon-Ra St. Brown is the only other player to do it in 2025.
Rico Dowdle, Carolina - 130 Rushing Yards, 2 Rushing Touchdowns, 2 Receptions, 11 Receiving Yards
Dowdle became the eighth Panther running back with 130+ rushing yards and 2+ touchdowns. He has 652 rushing yards in his last five games, topping Stephen Davis's 641 as the previous team high over a five-game span. Over his last ten starts, he has 1,196 rushing yards, a 17-game pace of 2,033.
Matthew Stafford, LA Rams - 281 Passing Yards, 4 Passing Touchdowns
Davante Adams, LA Rams - 5 Receptions, 60 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving Touchdowns
Stafford has nine touchdown passes over his last two games, joining Joe Burrow as the only quarterbacks to do that since Tom Brady in early 2021. Stafford became the 18th quarterback in NFL history to have nine touchdowns in a two-game span. Stafford needs two touchdown passes to become the ninth player with 400 in his career.
Adams moved into a tie with Tony Gonzalez with 111 career touchdown receptions, ranking 8th in NFL history. Adams sits seven receptions away from 1,000 for his career and is one behind DeAndre Hopkins, who are 17th and 18th in career receptions. He needs 16 receiving yards to pass Brandon Marshall for 26th on the career receiving yards list.
Stefon Diggs, New England - 3 Receptions, 38 Receiving Yards, 1 Touchdown
Diggs hit the 600 reception mark, becoming the 29th player in NFL history to do so. He is one behind Wes Welker on the NFL's career list. He came one yard short of the 44th player to join the 11,000 career receiving yards list. He has topped 39 yards just once in his last four games, though he has scored in back-to-back contests.
The Running Back Trinity of Awesomeness Section
Jonathan Taylor, Christian McCaffrey, and Bijan Robinson have separated themselves at the top of the fantasy leaderboard. The Trinity is accomplishing weekly statistical milestones worth their own section. What did they do this week?
Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco - 106 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing Touchdown, 5 Receptions, 67 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving Touchdown
McCaffrey recorded his 16th career game with a rushing and receiving touchdown, breaking a tie with Marshall Faulk for the most in NFL history.
It was his 10th career game with 100 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards, moving into a tie with Walter Payton for the second most in NFL history. Faulk did it 15 times.
It was his 46th career game of at least five receptions and 50 receiving yards, breaking a tie with Faulk for the second most in history by a running back. Larry Centers had 53.
McCaffrey hit 100+ yards, 1+ rushing touchdowns, 5+ receptions, 50+ yards, and 1+ receiving touchdowns for the fifth game in his career. That broke a tie with Priest Holmes for the most games above those thresholds in history.
McCaffrey needs 17 rushing yards for 7,000 in his career. He would be the 73rd back to hit that mark. He has 585 career receptions, the seventh most by a running back. Tiki Barber (586) and Marcus Allen (587) are just ahead. Only four running backs (Faulk, Centers, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Alvin Kamara) have 600 career receptions.
Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis - 45 Rushing Yards, 2 Receptions, 12 Receiving Yards
Taylor did not do much of anything fun statistically, though he still leads the NFL with 895 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.
Bijan Robinson, Atlanta - 46 Rushing Yards, 8 Receptions, 50 Receiving Yards
Robinson topped six receptions and 50 receiving yards for the fourth time in 2025, tying John Settle's 1988 season for the most by a Falcons running back in one year. McCaffrey has the most for any running back, hitting the mark ten times in 2019. He already has seven in 2025.
His 46 rushing yards are his most since his 170 rushing yard performance against Buffalo in Week 6. He was RB22, averaging 22.4 fantasy PPG following that Bills game. Over the last three weeks, he is RB20 at 12 PPG.
