As we enter Week 6 of the 2026 season, I want to share some tips, advice, and thoughts on various players, teams, and situations. With resources available at every turn, including information and opinions shared on social media, various databases, and other websites, it is becoming increasingly difficult to differentiate oneself from the rest of the pack in terms of knowledge and strategy. To gain that extra edge, you must make proactive moves that cash in. Plan ahead, know your players' schedules, read helpful columns, and execute the game plan for success. In no particular order, here are a few items that can help you gain that edge.
Be Aware of Players Returning from Injury
WR A.J. Brown, New England Patriots (High ankle sprain - Target Return: Week 6/7)
A.J. Brown is officially eligible to be activated from injured reserve this week after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 1 against the Seahawks. Brown's practice participation this week will determine whether he suits up immediately for Week 6 or needs an extra week of conditioning.
WR Jalen Coker, Carolina Panthers (thigh/quad - Target Return: Week 6)
The Panthers hope to get Jalen Coker back in time for Week 6 after he missed time with a thigh issue since Week 4. Carolina's passing offense has been searching for reliable secondary targets alongside their top threat, Tetairoa McMillan. Bryce Young developed strong slot chemistry with Coker late last season, making him a sharp, low-cost fantasy draft pick who is on the verge of turning the corner. With Young's recent success and high level of play, Coker could provide much-needed production for your starting roster.
WR Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs (Hamstring - Target Return: Week 7)
Sidelined since Week 4 with a hamstring strain, Rashee Rice is on track for a Week 7 return. Kansas City's passing game desperately needs a reliable possession target underneath to convert third downs and make plays after the catch. For those who drafted Rice, it's almost time to bring him back from the ashes of your roster. The Chiefs are hurting at receiver, and Rice's return would be a welcome addition, but it probably won't happen until Week 7 at the earliest.
RB Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles (Hamstring - Target Return: Week 7)
Saquon Barkley's hamstring injury likely keeps him sidelined through Week 6. With backup Will Shipley also out with a foot injury, Philadelphia's backfield depth is severely thinned out. Check in with frustrated 1-4 managers who might be open to trading Barkley at a discount before he reclaims his starting role.
RB Jordan Mason, Minnesota Vikings (Thumb - Target Return: Week 7)
Aaron Jones Sr. has filled in well for the Vikings; however, he has not been a workhorse type of back for a few seasons, and he is potentially on the cusp of hitting the wall. Mason's return could come at a perfect time. The Vikings are on Bye this week, and could see Mason back in action for Week 7.
WR Jordyn Tyson, New Orleans (Hamstring - Target Return: Week 9)
The Saints have indicated that Jordyn Tyson will not practice this week, which means he is out for Week 6. He could potentially play Week 7 in Paris against the Steelers, but with a Week 8 bye, the Saints may just keep him out until Week 9. Plan on Week 9 or later, depending on his progression.
WR CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys (Quad - Target Return: Week 6)
Lamb missed most of Week 5 with a quad injury but is slated to return for Week 6. He is Dak Prescott’s alpha target and a top-tier fantasy WR1. It's hard to keep Lamb out, but don't be too surprised if it takes a few weeks to get back to normal.
WR DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles (Hamstring - Target Return: Week 6)
After missing time with a hamstring strain since Week 4, Smith is expected to return to Philadelphia's lineup in Week 6. His presence gives Jalen Hurts a much-needed piece to the passing game that has been lacking in his absence.
QB Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears (Hamstring - Target Return: Week 6)
Williams is on track to reclaim the starting quarterback job from Tyson Bagent after resting his hamstring. His return should elevate the level of play and production from Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland. Fantasy Managers hoping to cash in on the potent Bears offense should be encouraged by the return of Williams.
WR Ladd McConkey, LA Chargers (Foot injury - Target Return: Week 6)
Despite playing through multiple ailments in Week 4, McConkey's foot injury kept him out of Week 5, despite being active for the game. He is targeted for a Week 6 return, which can only help Justin Herbert and the offense climb out of the doldrums.
WR Christian Kirk, San Francisco 49ers (Calf - Target Return: Week 7/8) pre-emptive pickup
Christian Kirk is currently working his way back from a calf strain on the Reserve/PUP list. San Francisco's receiving corps has been hit hard by injuries, opening up a path to slot targets once Kirk's practice window opens. In Kyle Shanahan's system, a seasoned slot receiver with Kirk's route-running pedigree has immediate WR3 or flex appeal. If he was dropped in your league to save a bench spot, scoop him up before practice reports break.
