The season is now in full swing. We will be focusing on waivers and trades until later in the season when we will transition to players to stash, buy, and sell for the offseason. In today’s “Dynasty News,” we will examine some of the larger happenings of the week from a dynasty perspective.
Dynasty News: QB Russell Wilson, New York Giants
Yes, Russell Wilson was benched for rookie Jaxson Dart. It was the right move. Dart is the superior player, and it is not especially close. So, it should not come as a surprise to see the Giants floating the idea of trading Wilson through the media. Wilson signed a one-year deal this past offseason and will be a free agent after the 2025 season. He has officially handed over the reins to rookie Jaxson Dart:
Russell Wilson took his benching like a pro, not asking to be releasing and choosing to mentor #Giants QB Jaxson Dart.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 27, 2025
But he’s still expected to emerge as a trade target. Story with @MikeGarafolo: https://t.co/beJHA6WJMrhttps://t.co/beJHA6WJMr
After Sunday's victory over the Chargers, Dart told reporters how much he respects Wilson:
#Giants QB Jaxson Dart: "I want to give a big shoutout to Russell Wilson. I know this week probably wasn't the easiest thing but he handled it like a professional. Have a ton of respect for him.”

A team acquiring Wilson could benefit from a comp pick return if he signs elsewhere as a free agent this coming offseason.
Dynasty News; RB Joe Mixon, Houston Texans
Texans running back Joe Mixon is still on the Non-Football Injury List and does not seem likely to return anytime soon, per Coach DeMeco Ryans:
#Texans coach DeMeco Ryans specifically indicated that Joe Mixon is not ready to return at this time. Per sources, it will be much longer, if at all, for Mixon to get back on the field this season @KPRC2
— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) September 29, 2025
This is great news for dynasty managers with rookie Woody Marks on their roster. He overtook Nick Chubb this week and could be a league winner. We still recommend trying to trade for Mixon as he will be healthy eventually.
Dynasty News: RB Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers
Late last week, Jaylen Warren injured his knee but the injury was not considered serious. He had the "Questionable" label going into Sunday morning's game against Minnesota. He missed the game.
#Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (knee) is inactive.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 28, 2025
Warren popped up on the injury report late in the week. He worked out pregame but couldn’t go.
Warren was replaced by Kenneth Gainwell, who played well in the victory over Minnesota. He had 19 carries for 99 yards and a pair of scores while rookie Kaleb Johnson only carried the rock 6 times for 22 yards. Gainwell shined in Philadelphia and is ready for an increased role in Pittsburgh if Warren misses extended time. He is still only 26 and has fantasy-starter potential if Warren is out.
Dynasty News: RB Braelon Allen, New York Jets
Jets tailback injured his knee on a second-quarter kickoff and was takent to the locker room. Allen took a hit to the outside of his knee and is likely to miss multiple weeks. Isaiah Davis will slide into the backup role behind Breece Hall. The deep roster player to monitor is Keilan Robinson, a second-year player originally drafted by the Jaguars.
Dynasty News: RB Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans
Titans tailback Tyjae Spears injured his ankle and placed on injured reserve August 26. He was diagnosed with high ankle sprain. As we enter Week 5, the earliest Spears could return, Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Tennessee will open his 21-day practice window this week. This is a bad offense that could use a spark.
Dynasty News: RB Jaydon Blue, Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas offense has leaned on veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders at running back. Most dynasty managers expected rookie Jaydon Blue to have a prominent role early, but it takes time for rookies. Last week, coach Brian Schottenheimer gave reporters an update:
Brian Schottenheimer on @1053thefan talking about #Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue’s progress:
— Tommy Yarrish (@tommy_yarrish) September 26, 2025
“Jaydon’s actually put together a couple really good weeks of practice. He has. We challenged him, we talked to him about consistency, working harder on the scout team and things like that, man… pic.twitter.com/3jxqbml5kI
Blue will get a chance. it just might take a few weeks. If nothing else, Blue should soon overtake Sanders as Williams' complement.
Dynasty News: WR Malik Nabers, New York Giants
There was an audible gasp when superstar Malik Nabers went to the MetLife turf holding his right knee. That turf has caused many injuries over the years. The Giants still beat the Chargers with strong play from their rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart. Still, the Nabers injury lingers as he is as talented as any receiver in the league. Before the game was even over, Ian Rapoport tweeted an update:
#Giants WR Malik Nabers is believed to have torn his ACL, per me and @TomPelissero. A crushing blow. pic.twitter.com/yF4tTnez3l
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 28, 2025
For dynasty managers looking how to pivot, Darius Slayton and Wan'Dale Robinson will see increased targets, but still struggle to be fantasy-relevant. In Sunday's game, tight end, Theo Johnson, saw extended action and could be Dart's safety net.
Dynasty News: WR Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders
Washington star receiver, Terry McLaurin, popped up on the injury report after the Week 3 victory over Las Vegas. McLaurin hauled in three Marcus Mariota passes for 74 yards in the contest, but was unable to practice last week. Then, the news stories and hypothesizing began to leak:
Terry McLaurin will receive another opinion on his quad today, and he's received several -- including from Dr. Williams Meyers, the nation's expert in core muscle injuries. As of now, they believe it's a quad injury. But more tests coming, as his status is in doubt for Sunday. https://t.co/m6VJOn67F9
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 24, 2025
After Rapoport's report, Dr. Evan Jeffries opined:
This is interesting but essentially it seems they are trying to figure out if this a sports hernia type of injury because it is probably higher up in the thigh close to the junction of lower core muscles and groin
— Dr. Evan Jeffries, DPT (@GameInjuryDoc) September 24, 2025
Likely means it’s more serious than initially thought and this…
Then, later in the week, Coach Dan Quinn gave an opaque timeframe for his return:
Quinn calls Terry McLaurin “week-to-week.” Says they’ll see what next week brings for the #Commanders WR. https://t.co/Z3gZg7FlmS
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) September 26, 2025
There were reports late last week that McLaurin does not need surgery "at this time," but that is of little comfort. Dynasty managers should expect McLaurin to miss several weeks. Rookie Jaylin Lane is an intriguing name to watch. He was named the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 3 after his punt return for a score. The Commanders offense has suffered through several injuries to begin the season and will need to get healthy soon if there is hope of competing with the Eagles.
Dynasty News: WR Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins
Tyreek Hill caught a third quarter pass and fell to the ground, holding his knee. He was carted off the field. Ian Rapoport reported an update before the game was complete:
#Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill, who was taken to a local hospital because of a knee injury, is believed to have suffered a dislocated knee, source says. pic.twitter.com/MJvAunu1nz
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 30, 2025
A Knee dislocation usually includes ligament, too. Dr. Jeff Mueller opined on the injury:
Tyreek Hill -
— Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT (@jmthrivept) September 30, 2025
Plants his Left foot, suspecting LCL++ tear and knee dislocation.
Meniscus+ACL could be implicated as well.
Just have to hope there’s no significant nerve damage, but this could certainly be career-threatening. pic.twitter.com/2wpjUEhANA
Hill seemed to be in great spirits - smiling and clapping - as he was carted off the field. This could be career-threatening for the play-making star receiver. Malik Washington will see extended action in Hill's stead. Also, Darren Waller is back and looked good in the Monday night victory.. As for Hill, he will be 32 years old in March and has a long recovery ahead of him.
Dynasty News: WR Ricky Pearsall, San Francisco 49ers
Ricky Pearsall has been hindered by injuries for much of the preseason and season. He left Sunday's game and only returned for one play before being ruled out. He talked about it after the game:
#49ers WR Ricky Pearsall on his right knee issue, mentions some pain and a little instability:
— Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner) September 29, 2025
"I was testing it out. I tried to keep my feet inbounds and I fell pretty hard on my knee. I was just feeling pain, a little bit of instability. I wasn’t trying to really mess with…
Dr. Jeff Mueller gave this analysis of the injury:
Decent chance Ricky Pearsall suffered a right PCL sprain with risk of costing him some play time.
— Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT (@jmthrivept) September 29, 2025
Downside: 49ers play on Thursday night vs LAR, four days from now. As of right now, there’s a chance he won’t suit up but we’ll find out more tomorrow. https://t.co/CuzQSg3M3X
The San Francisco recceiving corps is banged up on a short week coming off a loss. The Thursday game will be a big one as the 49ers travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams.
Dynasty News: WR CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys
We are still learning more about the ankle injury for CeeDeeLamb. While many expect him back in a few weeks, there is still a chance he lands on injured reserve.
Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb could miss 3-4 weeks with a high left ankle sprain suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears, according to a source.
— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) September 22, 2025
The Dallas offense misses its big-play receiver. George Pickens stepped up against Green Bay and gets three good matchups in the Jets, Panthers, and Commanders next on the schedule.
Dynasty News: WR Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers
Dynasty managers have been anxiously waiting for Brandon Aiyuk to get back on the field. With the myriad of other injuries to the 49ers skill-position players, Aiyuk has been missed. Last week, John Lynch gave an update on a radio show:
John Lynch told @knbrmurph & @MarkusBoucher Brandon Aiyuk has had "no setbacks," but that he's "not close."
— KNBR (@KNBR) September 25, 2025
"There's no absolutes on these things. He's gotta continue to hit markers. He's tracking well, we'll be a better team when Brandon's out there... But it's not close." pic.twitter.com/G4cS54ufeN
Given that his knee injury was to more than just an ACL injury, the extent was great enough that it will take time to heal. Jauan Jennings has been limited by ankle and shoulder injuries and has tried to play through them. He played Sunday but left in the third quarter after being reinjured on a two-point conversion. The desire for receiver depth is why San Francisco signed Demarcus Robinson and re-signed Kendrick Bourne. Aiyuk makes a great "buy-low" player. He is still just 27 years old and is in a great offense for his talents.
Dynasty News: WR Darnell Mooney, Atlanta Falcons
Darnell Mooney left Sunday's victory over Washington with a hamstring injury. He did not return. Mooney missed much of the preseason and training camp with a shoulder injury, so this is an injury to watch. The Falcons have a bye this week so there may not be an update until next week. Mooney relies on his speed so a hamstring injury could linger for a few weeks.
Dynasty News: WR Jalen Coker, Carolina Panthers
Carolina receiver Jalen Coker started the season on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury. Last week, Coach Dave Canales gave an update, "Yeah, it's week to week right now ... He is progressing, and we're trying to gather all the information, get him as strong as possible before we can get him back out there. Four-week minimum before his window opens up and then we'll see what he can do." We have now hit the four-week mark. Now is the time savvy dynasty managers start inquiring about the young receiver. He was the team's third-leading receiver as a rookie and should get consistent targets with the departure of Adam Thielen.
Dynasty News: WR Demarcus Robinson, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco signed Demarcus Robinson after trading away Deebo Samuel Sr. to the Commanders. He was later suspended for the first three games. Expect the veteran receiver to play an expanded role in the coming weeks while Aiyuk is on injured reserve and Pearsall and Jennings are limited by injuries. Robinson was immediately activated from the Suspended List when eligible:
The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have activated WR Demarcus Robinson from the Reserve/Suspended List and placed DL Nick Bosa on the Injured Reserve List.
— San Francisco 49ers (@49ers) September 25, 2025
Robinson just turned 31 and has a lot of gas left in the tank. Playing for the Rams in 2024, he set career highs last year with 505 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns, and an 16.3 yards-per-catch average. He makes a great dynasty stash as the bye weeks are starting to arrive. Robinson was not involved in the 49ers loss to the Jaguars. It might take him a week or two to get acclimated.
Dynasty News: TE Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints
On Decemebr 1, 2024, Taysom Hill tore his ACL against the Los Angeles Rams. He also suffered additional damage to the knee, so it was surprising to see reports of his impending return to the field:. Dynasty managers are encouraged to look for Hill on the waiver wire. One note: his return would decrease the targets that Juwan Johnson currently receives. The Saints also are opening the 21-day window for Foster Moreau.
