Here are the five most impactful situations for fantasy managers heading into Week 3:

The Wave of Quarterback Injuries: Dart, Daniels, and Williams

Week 2 took a toll on quarterbacks. The Giants' Jaxson Dart suffered damage to his MCL, PCL, and meniscus during Monday night's loss to the Rams, requiring season-ending surgery and forcing Jameis Winston into the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow -- the same injury that sidelined him in 2025. Daniels is still being evaluated, and there is no timetable for his return. Marcus Mariota will start in his absence. Fantasy managers should lower short-term expectations for all the receiving assets in New York and Washington.

In Chicago, Caleb Williams suffered a hamstring injury against the Vikings that has his Week 3 availability in serious doubt. Backup Tyson Bagent is in the concussion protocol. Neither Williams nor Bagent has been ruled out, but neither practiced Thursday, and the team's No. 3 QB, Case Keenum, is preparing to start against the Eagles on Monday night.

In a related note, Michael Penix Jr. will make his 2026 debut in Green Bay on Thursday Night Football, offering a potential boost to Drake London and Kyle Pitts Sr.

Nacua Dealing with "Pre-Hernia" Groin Issue

Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua missed Wednesday's practice, and HC Sean McVay said during a Thursday radio appearance, "He's not making great progress." McVay previously revealed Nacua is dealing with "a pre-hernia" groin issue, though the Rams don't believe it's a long-term concern. Nacua's status for Sunday Night Football against Denver remains unclear, setting up Davante Adams for another potentially massive target share if Nacua sits.

Bowers Trending Toward Playing in Week 3

Star tight end Brock Bowers is trending toward making his 2026 debut Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Bowers sat out the first two games as he continues to recover from a knee procedure he underwent during the week leading up to the season opener. He went through a pregame workout before Sunday's victory over the Chargers, with HC Klint Kubiak noting postgame that Bowers was getting very close to playing. Bowers practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, and assuming he returns, he instantly regains top-tier TE1 status for fantasy investors.

Brooks Has Surgery; Hubbard's Role Solidifies

Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks underwent core muscle surgery to repair a groin injury. He was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, and he can't return for at least four weeks. HC Dave Canales, however, suggested a six-to-eight-week timeline. While Carolina had veteran free agent Austin Ekeler in for a visit, he did not immediately sign. For now, Brooks' injury cements Chuba Hubbard, the RB8 overall through two games, as a high-volume RB2 with upside.

WR Issues in Houston, Baltimore, San Francisco, Buffalo

As of Thursday, neither Nico Collins nor Zay Flowers has practiced this week due to their respective hamstring injuries. Initial reporting suggested Collins would miss two weeks with his injury, so another absence wouldn't be surprising. With Collins out last week, Dalton Schultz exploded for 12 catches and 140 yards, while Kayshon Boutte and Xavier Hutchinson moved up in the wide receiver rotation. Baltimore had sounded optimistic about Flowers earlier in the week -- HC Jesse Minter said he had a "good shot" to play -- but consecutive DNPs have moved things in the wrong direction. He did at least work on the side before Thursday's practice. Without Flowers, Rashod Bateman becomes the Ravens' de facto WR1, with Mark Andrews another obvious candidate for increased work.

In San Francisco, Demarcus Robinson suffered a high-ankle sprain and is expected to miss significant time. De'Zhaun Stribling is already on IR after ankle surgery. Ricky Pearsall is on season-ending IR. Mike Evans also missed Wednesday's practice with a hip injury that knocked him out of Week 2. Evans currently appears likely to play, and the overall attrition at wideout should put him in position for a significant target share while funneling additional opportunities toward Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, and Deebo Samuel Sr. If Evans can't go, Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowing, and KhaDarel Hodge would all be in the mix behind the front-line players.

Finally, watch Buffalo, where DJ Moore and Keon Coleman were on the practice field Thursday.  Moore (shoulder) was officially a limited participant in Wednesday’s session. Coleman did not participate.
