📊 POLL RESULTS: In our last issue of the Daily Update, we asked you Footballguys:

Which rookie RB takes control of his backfield first?

And the Footballguy says: I trust TreVeyon Henderson more than the Patriots do.

TODAY: Clayton Gray’s deep dive into how player values are shifting in high-stakes NFFC drafts reveals one clear trend — quarterbacks are climbing.

Among the biggest movers this week: Lamar Jackson surged 6 spots, Jayden Daniels climbed 4, and Bo Nix jumped 8. But which of these rising QBs most deserves the boost?

So today, we ask you Footballguys:

🗳️ POLL: Which rising QB most deserves their recent NFFC ADP surge?

When you vote in the Poll below, you'll see the current standings, and we'll post the final results in the next edition of the Daily Update.

1. DEN: Devaughn Vele efficient as a rookie

Source: ESPN.com – Ben Solak

Denver Broncos WR Devaughn Vele had 52% of his targets go for first downs or touchdowns as a rookie last season, which was fourth in the NFL, per ESPN's Ben Solak. Following the selection of WR Pat Bryant in the third round, however, Solak believes that Vele will be competing with the rookie for the slot role in 2025.

Our view: Vele reminded many in Broncos Country of a young Tim Patrick, and he played well as a rookie in 2024. He was a key cog for the passing game as Bo Nix went through his rookie season. This year in training camp, Vele is going to have to compete with Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin to establish a pecking order behind Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims.

2. CHI: Caleb Williams initially unenthused about Chicago

Source: ESPN.com – Seth Wickersham

Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams — and specifically his father, Carl — went to 'great lengths' to circumvent the 2024 NFL Draft for several reasons, including their initial impression of the team and its history with quarterbacks, according to details in a forthcoming book from ESPN's Seth Wickersham. The father and son even considered attacking the organization and the city of Chicago in hopes they could make the situation untenable for the franchise, much like Jack and John Elway did with the Baltimore Colts in 1983. Ultimately, Caleb Williams' decision to potentially 'nuke the city' fell by the wayside following a predraft visit, after which he believed he could be part of a process to turn the franchise around.

Our view: The Bears let Williams down last year, and that's why the coaching staff was changed. Coming over from the high-powered Lions, new head coach Ben Johnson should be able to craft a dynamic scheme around Williams and what he does best. Chicago had a Pope named before they had a 4,000 yard passer. Perhaps this year, Williams can be the first to surpass that mark.

2025 Revenge Games

Revenge games are one of the fun storylines that pace the NFL season. The scale of emotion can range from minor (it is unlikely Sam Darnold has much emotional attachment to San Francisco) to players like Cooper Kupp and Austin Ekeler, who sit near the top of franchise record boards, reporting to the visitor locker room in their former home. With the NFL schedule official, what games stand out in 2025?

Week 1: Justin Fields (Pittsburgh at NY Jets)

This is light on the revenge scale as Fields spent just one year and six games with the Steelers. That said, Fields was honest and uncomfortable with how the team managed the quarterback situation involving him and Russell Wilson in 2024. In free agency, Fields wasted little time switching to New York and pairing with his college teammate Garrett Wilson.

Week 1: Jakobi Meyers (Las Vegas at New England)

Meyers played against the Patriots in Week 6 of 2023, posting five receptions with 61 yards and a touchdown. He gets his first chance to return to New England, starting the season against his former Raiders head coach, Josh McDaniels, who returns for his third stint as the Patriots' offensive coordinator.

Week 2: DK Metcalf (Seattle at Pittsburgh)

Metcalf’s 438 receptions were seventh in Seahawks history, 6,324 yards were sixth, and 48 touchdowns were fourth. Metcalf was outspoken in his trade requests and received a new contract immediately after arriving in Pittsburgh. The fans may feel this one a bit more than the star receiver.

Week 5: Stefon Diggs (New England at Buffalo)

Diggs played against Buffalo in Week 5 of 2024, posting six receptions for 82 yards in a Texans win. This will be his first game returning to the stadium he called home for four years.

Week 5: Austin Ekeler (Washington at LA Chargers)

Ekeler returns to the team he called home for seven seasons. He left the Chargers following the 2023 season, third on the team's rushing yardage and touchdown record boards with 4,355 and 39. Ekeler was a change of pace back in his first season away from the Chargers, and it is unlikely his role will grow in his age-30 season.

Week 8: Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay at Pittsburgh)

Rodgers is not a Steeler currently, and he may not become one. But if he does make this move, this will be a huge matchup.

The Steelers will not see George Pickens in 2025. While there is a chance the Cowboys and Steelers will pull a cross-conference matchup in 2026, they are not scheduled to see each other until 2028. The Cowboys will still get a taste of revenge.

Week 8: Javonte Williams (Dallas at Denver)

Williams' best season as a Bronco was his rookie year, when he rushed for 903 yards. Injuries took his second year, and he never fully recovered, but he will get a chance to reset in Dallas. The Cowboys have an open backfield competition with Williams, Miles Sanders, Jaydon Blue, and Phil Mafah. Whoever emerges with most of the work will be a fantasy value at current ADP.

Week 10: Najee Harris (Pittsburgh at LA Chargers)

Harris topped 1,000 yards in each of his four seasons as a Steeler and is the only player in the NFL with 1,000 yards rushing in each of the last four seasons. His 4,312 rushing yards were the sixth most in franchise history, while his 28 touchdowns were seventh.

Week 11: Cooper Kupp (Seattle at LA Rams)

Kupp returns to Los Angeles after an eight-year run as a Ram. He is third in franchise receptions and touchdowns, with 634 and 57, trailing Isaac Bruce (942 and 84) and Torry Holt (869 and 74). At 7,776 yards, he is fourth, with Henry Ellard (9,761) joining Bruce (14,109) and Holt (12,660) in the top three.

Week 12: Tyler Lockett (Seattle at Tennessee)

Lockett is second to Steve Largent in every franchise receiving statistic, with 661 receptions, 8,594 yards, and 61 touchdowns against Largent’s line of 819 receptions, 13,089 yards, and 100 touchdowns.

3. CHI: Chemistry concerns for Rome Odunze?

Source: ESPN.com – Ben Solak

Chicago Bears WR Rome Odunze ranked sixth in the NFL in unrealized yards — defined as air yards the player got via target but failed to convert into receiving yards — in 2024, and ESPN's Ben Solak opines that he's "more than a little worried about the severe lack of chemistry between [QB Caleb] Williams and Odunze." Solak also adds that if Odunze isn't sharp running new head Ben Johnson's offense there are "plenty" of options that could "jump him on the depth chart."

Our view: Earlier this year, Bears assistant head coach Antwaan Randle El said the Bears can “get [Odunze] the ball in a lot of different ways.” New head coach Ben Johnson should be creative in the design of his offense when it comes to getting Odunze opportunities to make plays.

4. IND: Adonai Mitchell stuck in tertiary role?

Source: ESPN.com – Ben Solak

Indianapolis Colts WR Adonai Mitchell was primarily targeted on deep balls, finishing second in the NFL to New Orleans Saints WR Rashid Shaheed in average air yards per route run, and 40% of his targets came against man coverage. That's unlikely to change, in the opinion of ESPN's Ben Solak, who notes that Mitchell will "probably" remain "stuck" behind WRs Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs, as well as rookie TE Tyler Warren in terms of targets.

Our view: Mitchell was a second-round pick for the Colts coming out of Texas in 2024. He's got a great size/speed combination, but the team doesn't have a refined passing attack and he's further down the pecking order – and primarily used as a deep target. Mitchell started six games as a rookie, catching 20 passes for 254 yards and zero touchdowns. Fantasy GMs will see him as only a 'what the heck' flex in deeper leagues unless injuries strike ahead of him on the depth chart.

5. LAC: Ladd McConkey explosive from the slot

Source: ESPN.com – Ben Solak

Los Angeles Chargers WR Ladd McConkey's 15 receptions of 20-plus yards ranked third among rookies and 18th in the NFL while having the third-lowest rate of vertical routes run last season.

Our view: McConkey can take short passes and turn them into long gains. He changes direction quickly, and quickly became a favorite target of QB Justin Herbert. In the Wild Card loss to the Texans, McConkey set an NFL record with 197 yards (the most by a rookie in league history). In PPR formats, McConkey is a set-it-and-forget-it starter as a WR2.
