Two of my favorite things are Best Ball and DRAFTERS, and each week this offseason, I want to share with you my insights on both. With DRAFTERS releasing their main event tournament, excitement has been growing each day ever since. Each week, I want to break down what has changed from the previous week regarding NFL news, Best Ball news, and the top ADP Risers and Fallers on DRAFTERS. It's useful to compare Best Ball to the stock market and day trading stocks, but instead of stocks, we are looking at NFL players, specifically those players' Average Draft Position (ADP). We are constantly seeking to identify players of value in our drafts and avoid those who might be overvalued.
Each week, I will use updated DRAFTERS data to show the APD movement of the top risers and fallers on the site. ADP is often driven by the news that week and what some of the major touts in the industry might be saying about said players, and the result will be a shift in the ADP market
Let's look at last week's data (6/25-7/1) and find the top 10 Risers and Fallers for the past week:
DRAFTERS Weekly Best Ball Risers
Top 10 Risers
- Romeo Doubs WR GB +2.8 ADP
- Jerome Ford RB CLE +2.4 ADP
- Justin Fields QB NYJ +2.3 ADP
- Zach Charbonnet RB SEA +2.2 ADP
- Rashod Bateman WR BAL +2.1 ADP
- Keon Coleman WR BUF +1.9 ADP
- Blake Corum RB LAR +1.9 ADP
- Jordan Love QB GB +1.9 ADP
- Cade Otton TE TB +1.8 ADP
- Jaylen Wright RB MIA +1.7 ADP
Other names on the rise (11-20 ADP Risers): Mason Taylor, Deebo Samuel Sr., C.J. Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, Tyler Higbee, Dont'e Thornton Jr., Ja'Tavion Sanders, Brian Robinson Jr, Evan Engram, and Javonte Williams.
The Risers Takeaways: We have four running backs in Jerome Ford, Zach Charbonnet, Blake Corum, and Jaylen Wright in the top 10 risers this week. All of these players have a role on their teams as more of a handcuff-type player, adding depth to their team's depth chart. Charbonnet and Wright look like the clear backups in Seattle and Miami, while Ford and Corum are in more crowded situations. At wide receiver this week, we have a very solid trio of players in Romeo Doubs, Rashod Bateman, and Keon Coleman, who are all part of strong offenses and all have shown in the past that they are valuable best ball picks as they offer spike week potential and have a role on their teams.
The two quarterbacks on the risers this week, Justin Fields and Jordan Love, are the type that you want in the mid rounds that could bring you some upside and possibly finish the season as a top 10 quarterback when it is all said and done. Cade Otton is the lone tight end this week, and this one comes as more of a surprise, as he is not a big name when it comes to the position. But what he does do is give you a floor score week to week at a onesie position that lacks ceiling. Otton is fine in three-tight-end constructed lineups, and on a website like Drafters, where you have 20 roster positions, his value is more important.
DRAFTERS Weekly Best Ball Fallers
Top 10 Fallers
- Jordan Addison WR MIN -2.4 ADP
- DJ Giddens RB IND -2.0 ADP
- Elijah Moore WR BUF -2.0 ADP
- Brandin Cooks WR NO -2.0 ADP
- Sam Darnold QB SEA -1.9 ADP
- Rico Dowdle RB CAR -1.9 ADP
- Nick Chubb RB HOU -1.9 ADP
- Jalen Milroe QB SEA -1.9 ADP
- Ben Sinnott TE WAS -1.9 ADP
- Devontez Walker WR BAL -1.8 ADP
Other names on the fall (11-20 ADP Fallers): Tyler Conklin, Noah Brown, Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett, Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Restrepo, Zack Moss, Jalen Nailor, Jermaine Burton, and Audric Estime.
The Faller Takeaways: There are four wide receivers in the top ten fallers this week with Jordan Addison, Elijah Moore, Brandin Cooks, and Devontez Walker. Out of these four, I believe Addison is a faller because of his potential suspension to start the season, but also he is a skilled player and one that you want on your build after the suspension. Moore is also interesting, as we don't yet fully know how the Bills plan to use him or where he will sit on the depth chart to start the season. He could be a fun 20th-round dart throw, or he could be a total waste of a pick. As far as Cooks and Walker go, I feel good about just fading them completely, as there are a lot of better options with better situations at the end of drafts.
At running back, we have DJ Giddens, Rico Dowdle, and Nick Chubb as our fallers this week. I am not looking to draft much Chubb at all as I feel there are too many concerns with injury history and where he actually sits on the depth chart, or if he even makes the team in Week 1. Giddens is a fun last round dart throw as running backs always seem to get dinged up throughout the season, and he could have a bigger opportunity with the Colts based on how the offseason goes. Dowdle is a player I want to buy, as he showed he can produce at the NFL level last year and joins a backfield where he is solidly in place as the RB2 on the team. I like him as my RB5 or RB6 on my teams, especially in 20-round drafts. We have both the Seattle quarterbacks, Sam Darnold and Jalen Milroe, in the fallers section this week. I'm okay with Darnold as my QB3 on my best-ball team if he fits my build. He doesn't cost much at the end of drafts, but there's also some risk that Milroe could be under center later in the season. Ben Sinnott is the lone tight end in the fallers, and that feels off. I think he is a nice last-round dart throw in 20-round drafts and fits in nicely as a TE3 or TE4, especially in builds with Daniels as your quarterback.
