Bears | D'Andre Swift likely to play    Sat Dec 20, 02:50 PM

Chicago Bears RB D'Andre Swift (groin) is expected to play in Week 16's game against the Green Bay Packers, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Swift will play on Saturday night against the Packers. He's not 100 percent, but he's been battling through minor injuries for many weeks this season. He's a high-end RB2 in a huge game in the NFC North.

Raiders | Geno Smith will start Week 16's game    Sat Dec 20, 02:44 PM

Confirming a previous report, Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith (shoulder, back) will start Week 16's game versus the Houston Texans, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Footballguys view: Smith is back in action, so there's a boost for the Raiders' passing attack. However, a matchup against the Texans' swarming defense means Smith should have a long day. Backup quarterbacks like Marcus Mariota, Brady Cook, and Gardner Minshew (who are all starting this week) should be better fantasy plays than Smith.

Bills | Mecole Hardman could return from injured reserve    Sat Dec 20, 02:43 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Mecole Hardman (calf) has a chance to be activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 20, in time to play in Week 16's game versus the Cleveland Browns, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Footballguys view: The Bills could use help at the receiver position, but Hardman is most likely a gadget guy or part-time player upon his return.

Chiefs | Elijah Mitchell off roster    Sat Dec 20, 02:34 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Elijah Mitchell was waived Saturday, Dec. 20.

Footballguys view: With Dameon Pierce signed to the 53-man roster, Mitchell was seen as expendable. The Chiefs have Gardner Minshew in at quarterback with Patrick Mahomes done for the season. That could mean they'll run early and often. Perhaps that means Pierce could work his way into the mix with guys like Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt.

Chiefs | Kansas City adds three to 53-man roster    Sat Dec 20, 02:29 PM

Kansas City Chiefs practice squad OT Chukwuebuka Godrick, QB Chris Oladokun and RB Dameon Pierce were signed to the 53-man roster Saturday, Dec. 20. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Pierce is the player to watch here. He's been a productive back earlier in his career with the Texans, and if Pierce gets a look, he might impress again. The Chiefs are likely to be evaluating players here with their season going nowhere.

Cardinals | Marvin Harrison Jr. plans to play through pain    Sat Dec 20, 02:28 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel) plans to play in Week 16's game versus the Atlanta Falcons after having missed the previous two contests due to a heel injury. However, he will not be at full strength and claimed that he will 'probably' be playing injured for the rest of the season.

Footballguys view: Harrison is going to give it a go and play through this heel injury. Against the Falcons on Sunday, we like Harrison as a WR2/flex play. With Harrison out there for the Cardinals, it does ding the potential number of targets for Michael Wilson (who is like a WR3/flex in Week 16).

Browns | Deshaun Watson may be activated from PUP list soon    Sat Dec 20, 02:19 PM

A decision regarding whether Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson (Achilles) will be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list will be made next week, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Footballguys view: It seems like this will be much ado about nothing. With nothing to play for, there's no need for the Browns to throw Watson out there for a few meaningless games. Instead, they should keep him shut down and then get ready for a quarterback competition in 2026. Watson has a cap hit of $80.7 million with $131 million left in dead money. He's unlikely to be anywhere but Cleveland next season, and perhaps Shedeur Sanders will compete with Watson for the starting job.

Falcons | Coach thinks Drake London will play    Sat Dec 20, 02:17 PM

Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said that he expects WR Drake London (knee) to play in Week 16's game versus the Arizona Cardinals.

Footballguys view: London hasn't played since Week 11, and he was limited a couple of days in practice. However, he was a DNP on Friday which puts some doubt on his status. Morris believes London will play, and in a matchup against the Cardinals he could have a nice week of production. Double-check his status before kickoff, but London could finish as a WR1 in Week 16 if he plays.

Colts | Sauce Gardner is expected back this season    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

Indianapolis Colts CB Sauce Gardner (calf) has been ruled out for the Week 16 game, but head coach Shane Steichen said Gardner is expected to play again this season.

Browns | Harold Fannin Jr. staying busy    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

Cleveland Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr. has been targeted 30 times over the past three games, and his 99 targets this season rank second among tight ends.

Footballguys view: Fannin is a favorite target of Shedeur Sanders. He's a weapon in the passing game, and Fannin can pick up yards after the catch. Fannin is difficult for linebackers to matchup with, and that's why he's been so heavily targeted as a rookie.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce has shot at record    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce needs 203 yards over the final three games to become the oldest tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

Footballguys view: Kelce insists he will play in each of the final three games. The Chiefs are not going to the playoffs, and Patrick Mahomes (knee) is done for the year. Kelce may be thinking about retirement, but we'll have to wait on his decision. Motivated to play and get this record, Kelce is a TE1 for Fantasy GMs working through the fantasy playoffs.

Ravens | Justice Hill may return soon    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justice Hill (neck) has a chance to be available for the Week 17 game, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: Neck injuries are always tricky to deal with. The Ravens have had Hill shut down for a few weeks. Upon his return, Hill can take the job from Rasheen Ali as the no.3 back behind Derrick Henry and Keaton Mitchell.

Rams | Davante Adams likely to miss another game    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

Los Angeles Rams WR Davante Adams (hamstring) is not expected to be available for the Week 17 game, according to head coach Sean McVay.

Footballguys view: Adams was not able to play in Week 16 on Thursday against the Seahawks. The Rams will be without him again, this time against the Falcons in Week 17. Get ready for another monster game from Puka Nacua if/when Adams misses time. The Rams need to get Adams as healthy as possible before they make a run at the Super Bowl.

NFL | USC's Jayden Maiava elects to stay in school    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

USC QB Jayden Maiava has decided to return to school for the 2026 season, rather than forgoing his eligibility to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. Maiava completed 66.2% of his passes for 3,431 yards, 23 TDs and 8 INTs in 2025, his second with USC. He also had 3,085 passing yards in his freshman campaign of 2023 at UNLV.

Footballguys view: Maiava is staying in school, but he is set to be a top prospect in the 2027 NFL Draft. He's a big, strong-armed quarterback with skill as a passer and a runner. To improve is already high draft stock, Maiava needs to be more consistent and make fewer mistakes in high-leverage situations.

NFL | Darian Mensah will return to Duke for 2026 season    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

Duke University QB Darian Mensah announced that he will return to school for the 2026 season, his redshirt junior year, rather than forgoing his eligibility to enter the 2026 NFL Draft. He led the ACC in passing yards in 2025, competing 67.9% of his passes for 3,646 yards, 30 TDs and 5 INTs, while running for one more score.

Footballguys view: Mensah was considered by some in the scouting community as a potential top-5 player at his position. Now, he stays with Duke to elevate his draft stock for the 2027 NFL Draft. He had a breakout first season with Duke in 2024 with over 3,600 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Mensah has arm talent, and he processes the read quickly. Let's see if he can improve his deep-ball accuracy in the 2026 season.

NFL | LaNorris Sellers staying at South Carolina for 2026    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

University of South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers has finalized a deal to stay in school for the 2026 season, rather than forgoing his eligibility to enter the 2026 NFL Draft. 'We've had great conversations,' head coach Shane Beamer said. 'I think there are some details that need to be worked out and things like that. Let's face it. Nowadays, these guys have agents and whatnot. So, there are a lot of different aspects of every player on our team and that's different than before.'

Footballguys view: Sellers was considered a first-round pick for the 2026 NFL Draft, but he's going to stay in college for one more year. Some in the scouting community have compared his skill set (because he's large with a big arm) to Cam Newton. Sellers is an elite dual-threat quarterback with toughness and presence in the pocket. He needs to get better with anticipation as a thrower to cement himself as potentially a top-10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

NFL | Notre Dame's Eli Raridon enters 2026 draft    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

Notre Dame TE Eli Raridon has announced he is entering the 2026 NFL Draft. He posted 32 receptions for 482 yards in his senior season in 2025.

Footballguys view: Raridon is one of the top tight end prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. He's a huge target, measuring in at 6-feet, 7-inches, and 252 pounds. Raridon has overcome two right ACL tears during his college career to be a productive player for the Fighting Irish. He's a red-zone threat because of his size, and Raridon does a good job of using his frame to box out smaller defenders. While not a threat after the catch, Raridon is your traditional "Y" tight end who can excel as a blocker and receiver.

NFL | Pitt RB Desmond Reid ready for 2026 draft    Sat Dec 20, 02:16 PM

University of Pittsburgh RB Desmond Reid will not play in the Military Bowl on Dec. 27, as he announced he has declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. Reid was limited to seven games due to injuries in 2025, his second season in Pitt after transferring in from Western Carolina. He totaled 60 carries for 278 yards and two touchdowns with 23 receptions, 317 yards and two more scores, and he has ability in the punt return game, too.

Footballguys view: Reid is an undersized (175 pounds) weapon out of the backfield. He can hurt a defense as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. Not only does Reid have good hands as a pass-catcher, but he also has shown the ability to run good routes for a back. His size will keep him from a large role in the pros, but Reid can be a key piece as a change-of-pace back in the pros.
