Giants | Jason Sanders let go    Tue Jun 2, 11:39 AM

New York Giants PK Jason Sanders was released Tuesday, June 2.

Footballguys view: The former All-Pro kicker was released to clear a roster spot for Juju Smith-Schuster. Sanders, formerly of the Miami Dolphins, was by far the most experienced kicker under contract with the Giants. The 30-year-old Sanders has made 84.6% of his NFL field goal attempts. That includes 90.2% in the 2024 season, when he was 12-for-14 from 50-plus yards. Ben Sauls and Dominic Zvada are the remaining kickers on the roster.

Giants | Gunner Olszewski on injured reserve    Tue Jun 2, 12:30 AM

New York Giants WR Gunner Olszewski (Achilles) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, June 1.

Footballguys view: The kick and punt returner tore his Achilles during OTAs on Friday and will now have to miss the 2026 campaign. Olszewski was in line to retain the returner role he played for New York in 2025. Newly signed receiver Braxton Berrios can pick up some of that return work.

Giants | NYG, JuJu Smith-Schuster agree to deal    Mon Jun 1, 01:51 PM

Free-agent WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (Chiefs) agreed to terms with the New York Giants Monday, June 1, according to sources. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: As SBNation's Ed Valentine noted, the Giants worked out four wide receivers Monday morning. The only one not signed -- so far -- has been former Chicago Bears first-round pick Anthony Miller. Smith-Schuster is a nine-year veteran who spent three of the last four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was on the coaching staff. Smith-Schuster, 29, caught 33 passes in 17 games last season. He caught 78 passes for 933 yards for the Chiefs in 2022. Smith-Schuster joins Odell Beckham Jr. and Braxton Berrios as newcomers to the team's receivers room.

Giants | NYG sign Odell Beckham    Mon Jun 1, 01:02 PM

Free-agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. (Dolphins) signed with the New York Giants Monday, June 1. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Giants' receiving corps has been hit hard by injuries, with Darius Slayton recovering from hernia surgery and Malik Nabers' ongoing recovery from ACL and meniscus surgery. Beckham was a 2014 first-round pick and was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year after catching 91 passes during his first NFL season. He's also played for the Browns, Rams, Ravens, and Dolphins, but sat out all of last season. Beckham played for Giants coach John Harbaugh with Baltimore in 2023. We'll see if Beckham can carve out a role sufficient to make him fantasy relevant. A wait-and-see approach is recommended.

Giants | Braxton Berrios signs with Giants    Mon Jun 1, 11:41 AM

Free-agent WR Braxton Berrios (Texans) agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Giants Monday, June 1. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: Berrios, 30, is a natural fit for the role vacated by the injury to Gunner Olszewski, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon last week. Berrios has made his name as a special teams ace since entering the NFL in 2018 with the New England Patriots. He only has 140 receptions for 1,360 yards and 6 touchdowns since 2019, but has been an excellent returner. He has 100 punt returns, averaging 11.3 yards per return, as well as 91 kick returns with an average of 24.9 yards per return.

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. still in play for Giants    Mon Jun 1, 12:16 AM

Free-agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. (Dolphins) has a 'real chance' to sign with the New York Giants, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Earlier this month, Giants coach John Harbaugh left the door open for a potential Beckham signing, with a caveat. "It's got to be right for both parties," Harbaugh said. As Profootballtalk.com suggested, the biggest question is where he'd land on the depth chart. Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Calvin Austin III are the expected starters. The team's anticipated use of Beckham will also determine the contract he'd be offered. Both sides need to be on the same page about Beckham's role. It won't be what it was from 2014 through 2018.

Giants | Malik Nabers shows off full range of motion    Sun May 31, 02:54 PM

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) participated in LB Brian Burns' celebrity softball game on Saturday night, and he took part in all scheduled activities, from dodgeball to the home run derby to the game itself. He was seen backpedaling in the dodgeball game, and he was showing off a full range of motion. However, he still didn't show if he can start, stop or cut as his position requires, so it was just a glimpse of where he is at. Head coach John Harbaugh recently said the receiver is still working through rehab, and he is uncertain if Nabers will be ready for the start of training camp.

Footballguys view: Nabers didn't look too hobbled, but he didn't look like he was entirely comfortable either. It's still very unlikely he'll be ready for training camp, and nothing about this news item should change his uncertain status for Week 1.

Giants | Cam Skattebo works in some drills    Sat May 30, 05:32 PM

New York Giants RB Cam Skattebo (ankle) 'snuck into' some positional drills during practice Friday, May 29, and appeared to be moving well, according to Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com.

Footballguys view: Of the two rookie backs who suffered dislocated ankle/fractured fibula injuries last year, Skattebo is behind Quinshon Judkins - who has been moving surprisingly well already - but still on track to be ready for Week 1. The big question is whether Skattebo will be back his old self this year. Skattebo did suffer ligament damage that Judkins didn't, so he was expected to be behind Judkins. We'll be watching this closely. For now, Tyrone Tracy has some speculative early season upside as Skattebo's backup.

Giants | Francis Mauigoa signs contract    Fri May 29, 01:28 PM

New York Giants first-round draft choice OT Francis Mauigoa signed a four-year contract with the Giants Wednesday, May 27. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal does include a fifth-year option.

Footballguys view: Mauigoa should start out at guard and help the Giants offensive line right away with his natural power and footwork. He has a high ceiling whether he ends up moving back to his college position of tackle or stays at guard, and the Giants reportedly had the #10 overall pick in their top four.

Giants | Deonte Banks might benefit from aggressive style    Sun May 24, 01:27 PM

New York Giants CB Deonte Banks gives up big plays, and he was flagged for many costly penalties. In addition, he continued to make inexcusable mistakes like not turning his head toward the ball. However, the team still has a little faith in him, and he could benefit from the aggressive style of defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. He did not have his option year exercised, however, although he is valuable as a returner. However, the team might want him to be more of a return specialist if he is going to stick around.

Giants | Missed tackle rate could doom Tyler Nubin    Sun May 24, 01:23 PM

New York Giants S Tyler Nubin had a 16.9 percent missed tackle rate in 2025, and he did not record an interception. Additions of CB Ar'Darius Washington and CB Jason Pinnock could mean a shift in Nubin's workload, or his roster status might even be in jeopardy. He split reps with Washington in organized team activities (OTAs).

Giants | Evan Neal fighting for roster spot    Sun May 24, 01:19 PM

New York Giants OL Evan Neal was shockingly re-signed to a one-year contract in the offseason despite struggles since he was picked in the 2022 NFL Draft. The team still values his 6-foot-7, 340-pound frame and potential, and hope head coach John Harbaugh will unlock that potential. However, if he is going to stick with the team, it will come at the guard position. He has taken most of his snaps in organized team activities (OTAs) at right guard.

Footballguys view: Neal and fellow 2022 first round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux have failed to help turn the franchise around after going at the #5 and #7 picks. Now the team is coming off a draft with the #5 and #10 picks and hoping for different results.

Giants | NYG unsure if Malik Nabers will be ready for the season    Sat May 23, 10:25 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Friday, May 22, that New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) 'don't know if he'll be ready for opening day.'

Footballguys view: Nabers has a goal to be ready for the start of the season, according to head coach John Harbaugh, but nothing is guaranteed. He's in the building working hard on his recovery, but Nabers is dealing with a knee injury suffered last October that required a second surgery (cleanup) in February. Fantasy GMs will get more clarity on his status when training camp hits in late July. If healthy, Nabers is a top-12 fantasy receiver.

Giants | Jaxson Dart working on sliding    Fri May 22, 02:26 PM

New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart said he has been studying tape of his scrambles with quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan to work on knowing when sliding is the better option.

Footballguys view: This indicates that the new Giants regime doesn't want Dart to lose his scrambling edge. His added value from running the ball last year isn't fully baked into his ADP, with Dart falling to around QB10 in early drafts. He could be a hit if Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo play like their pre-injury selves in 2026.

Giants | Andrew Thomas limited    Fri May 22, 02:26 PM

New York Giants OT Andrew Thomas (foot, shoulder) received a limited workload during the voluntary workout Thursday, May 21, because he is recovering from foot and shoulder injuries, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: Thomas is the best Giants offensive lineman by a good margin, but he has played 29 games in the last three years. His health is a key to the new Nagy/Roman offense getting jumpstarted around Jaxson Dart in his second year.

Giants | Darius Slayton should be ready for camp    Fri May 22, 02:26 PM

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton (hernia) should be ready for the start of training camp after undergoing sports hernia surgery this offseason, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: With Malik Nabers unsure for Week 1, Slayton will have a chance to start and be a focal point of the downfield passing game. He'll compete with free agent signing Darnell Mooney, who had the best year of his career under new Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy in Chicago, and third round pick Malachi Fields. This is a battle to watch in training camp along with Nabers progress in recovery from a second knee surgery.

Giants | Roy Robertson-Harris out for season    Fri May 22, 10:32 AM

New York Giants DT Roy Robertson-Harris (Achilles) suffered a torn Achilles in organized team activities Thursday, May 21, and will miss the entire 2026 season.

Footballguys view: The Giants are trying to replace Dexter Lawrence after trading him to the Bengals for the #10 pick of the draft (used to take OT/OG Francis Mauigoa). They also signed DJ Reader and Shelby Harris, but this is a blow to a unit that was already coming into the season much weaker without its long-time leader.

Giants | Malik Nabers has goal of being ready for start of the season    Thu May 21, 02:26 PM

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) has a goal to be ready for the start of the season, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: Nabers tore his ACL in early October last year, and he's been on the road to recovery since then. The young receiver did undergo a cleanup procedure earlier this spring, but that's not supposed to interrupt his timeline. Expect to see him out there in training camp, but it might be closer to the end of camp before Nabers gets ramped up.

Giants | Cam Skattebo aiming for 2,000-yard season    Wed May 20, 01:06 AM

Cam Skattebo insists he will be "ready to go" Week 1 as he continues his rehab from a gruesome leg injury. That is good news for the Giants as the running back had 125 carries for 617 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie. Skattebo has much bigger goals for his second season. "I do not consider that successful for me," Skattebo said of his rookie season, via Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. "I had 400 yards on 100 carries. When I play 17-plus games this year, it's going to be 300 carries for over 2,000 yards."

Footballguys view: As Profootballtalk.com points out, nine running backs have had a 2,000-yard season, the most recent coming by Saquon Barkley in 2024. Eric Dickerson owns the NFL record with his 2,105 rushing yards in 1984. Tiki Barber holds the Giants team record with 1,860 rushing yards in 2005. Skattebo's lofty goals might be over the top, but even though he only appeared in eight games last season, Skattebo was RB10 when he was hurt, despite not being a starter until Week 4. His RB20 ADP makes him an appealing play.

Giants | Cam Skattebo proclaims he's 'ready to go for Week 1'    Tue May 19, 12:05 AM

New York Giants RB Cam Skattebo said that he's 'feeling great' and that he's 'ready to go for Week 1' at New York Giants Town Hall on Monday, May 18.

Footballguys view: Skattebo's rookie campaign ended in Week 8 last year with a gruesome-looking dislocated ankle injury. He told reporters at the end of last season that he was making progress and even hoped to do some light work in the offseason. That won't be the case, at least not in terms of doing team drills. Even though he feels great, Skattebo is still "a little ways off" from a return to the field. Training camp is still two months away, and the 2026 season is even further out, so we'll continue to monitor.

Giants | John Harbaugh heaps praise on tight end room    Tue May 19, 12:03 AM

New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh when talking about TE Isaiah Likely, TE Theo Johnson, TE Chris Manhertz, and TE Thomas Fidone II, said, 'there's not a better tight end room in the league,' according to a source on Monday, May 18.

Footballguys view: Harbaugh coached Likely for four seasons in Baltimore. He knows what Likely can bring to an offense. Likely served as a TE2 in Baltimore behind three-time Pro Bowler Mark Andrews. The Ravens were always at the top of the league in rushing with the two-tight end set. The Giants hope to establish the same offense, and Likely will play a major role along with Johnson. Having Likely and Johnson both on the field would allow the Ravens to run or pass in a variety of looks, and Jaxson Dart would have two athletic mismatches to throw to whenever he wanted.

Giants WR Malik Nabers underwent a second surgery on his knee to remove scar tissue that was causing stiffness, sources tell the Athletic's Dan Duggan.

Footballguys view: Duggan is told the second surgery took place "multiple weeks ago," and it was described as a "clean up." This second surgery isn't expected to impact Nabers' recovery timeline. The team is still hoping the No. 1 WR will be ready for the opener. Fantasy managers, who are drafting him as WR8, seem to share in the Giants' optimism. Nabers first underwent ACL and meniscus surgery on Oct. 28.
