Giants | Beaux Collins could grow into role Sun Aug 31, 03:27 PM
New York Giants WR Beaux Collins had a 'spectacular' showing in offseason workouts and training camp, according to Bucky Brooks of NFL.com, and Brooks believes Collins could develop into a No. 3 receiver
Footballguys view: 2023 third round pick Jalin Hyatt had a poor summer, so Collins could be active on game days and even get a few snaps against Washington in the season opener. He reeled in a deep ball from Russell Wilson for an 80-yard gain in one of the highlights of the preseason. |
New York Giants CB Rico Payton (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Aug. 29.
Link to storyNew York Giants TE Theo Johnson (undisclosed) has not practiced this week and is considered day-to-day, according to head coach Brian Daboll.
Footballguys view: Johnson was a surprise rookie contributor last year and he's one of the fastest tight ends in the league, so there was some anticipation that he could get onto the fantasy radar this year. His injury is a bit mysterious, so we shouldn't be surprised if he's out for Week 1. Daniel Bellinger would be the next man up. |
New York Giants OT Andrew Thomas (foot) said he is not sure if he will be available for the Week 1 game.
Footballguys view: If Thomas still doesn't feel right after suffering a lisfranc injury in 2024, the team shouldn't put him out there against Washington. James Hudson was signed to a two year, $12 million deal in the offseason, but fifth round pick Marcus Mbow has outperformed him and might be the better option if Thomas is out. We can't assume that Thomas will ready for Week 2 against the Micah Parsons-less Cowboys if he's not playing in the opener. |
Free-agent TE Zach Davidson (Bills), QB Taylor Elgersma (Packers), WR Luke Grimm (Chargers), WR Jakobie Keeney-James (Lions), TE Zack Kuntz (Jets), TE Caden Prieskorn (Broncos), QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (Eagles) and RB Marcus Yarns (Saints) recently worked out for the New York Giants.

Free-agent TE Qadir Ismail (Raiders) was signed to the New York Giants practice squad Thursday, Aug. 28.
Link to storyNew York Giants WR Malik Nabers (back) said the back injury that sidelined him was 'a minor thing,' and he doesn't expect the issue to linger into the season.
Link to storyFree-agent RB Dante Miller (Giants), WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey (Giants) and WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette (Giants) were signed to the New York Giants practice squad Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Footballguys view: The Giants add some players here that we'll be monitoring, but only in super deep dynasty formats. Smith-Marsette is the player who could stand out here the most because of his speed. A fifth-round pick of the Vikings in 2021, the Giants are his fifth pro team. |

New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart (head) was evaluated for a concussion but cleared to return to the preseason game against the New England Patriots Thursday, Aug. 21.
Link to storyNew York Giants OT Andrew Thomas (foot) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Link to storyNew York Giants RB Cam Skattebo (hamstring) returned to practice Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Footballguys view: Skattebo, the fourth-round rookie, has missed much of training camp as well as the first two preseason games because of his hamstring injury. Head coach Brian Daboll indicated Skattebo's participation in his first day back to practice could be limited. Still, it was encouraging news for a player expected to receive a healthy dose of touches this season. His return, even as a limited participant, could indicate Skattebo has a chance to be ready Week 1. He has been listed as third on the Giants' depth chart at running back behind Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary. |
New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (back) is practicing Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Footballguys view: Nabers, who has also dealt with a lingering toe issue, said earlier this month that his limited on-field work was part of a plan the Giants had to make sure he is ready to go against the Commanders in Week 1. We spoke with Chris Bisignano of GiantInsider.com Monday night, and he confirmed all that. Bisignano added there's no concern among team officials about the back, although the ongoing toe issue is something that will have to be managed. Still, there doesn't appear to be anything here to keep fantasy managers from investing first-round draft capital to secure his services. |
New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (back) has not practiced in 11 days due to what multiple sources are reporting is a minor back problem. One source called it, 'normal camp tightness.'
Footballguys view: Nabers, who has also dealt with a lingering toe issue, said earlier this month that his limited on-field work was part of a plan the Giants had to make sure he is ready to go against the Commanders in Week 1. As Profootballtalk.com suggests, there's no reason to think his availability for that game is in doubt and no reason for the Giants to stop exercising caution with a vital member of their team. The uncertainty, however, can make fantasy investors paying a first-round premium to land Nabers a bit edgy. We'll continue to monitor. |
New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart remains the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart despite a strong showing in the preseason game against the New York Jets '(Russell Wilson) is our starter and we're going to keep developing Jaxson,' head coach Brian Daboll said Sunday, Aug. 17.
Link to storyNew York Giants QB Russell Wilson remains the team's starter heading into Week 1 on the road against the Washington Commanders despite the strong preseason play of rookie QB Jaxson Dart. 'Russ is our starter, and we're going to keep developing Jaxson,' head coach Brian Daboll said Sunday, Aug. 17.

New York Giants OT Andrew Thomas (foot) is 'getting better', according to head coach Brian Daboll on Sunday, Aug. 17. The team is taking it day to day, and Daboll said Thomas remains 'on his rehab schedule'.
Link to storyNew York Giants QB Jaxson Dart completed 14 of his 16 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score during the preseason game against the New York Jets Saturday, Aug. 16.
Footballguys view: Dart is going to start sooner than later for the Giants. He has had a strong summer, including projecting leadership in camp, and now he has carried that confidence onto the field. This isn't necessarily bad for Malik Nabers and the offense in general, because if Dart is good enough to give Russell Wilson a smaller margin of error as the early season starter and motivate the coaches to get him on the field early in his career, he might be better than we expect as a rookie. Dart should also be moving up your board in superflex leagues with the inevitability that he will start a significant number of games this season. |
New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (toe) will not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 14, but is working hard to return to the field, according to head coach Brian Daboll.
Footballguys view: This situation hasn't affected Nabers ADP, in part because of his significant upside in year two, but also because he has been dealing with this issue since he was in college. Still, if he can't practice soon, we might be moving him down in the first round mix out of worry that it will be a limiting factor on his production this season. |
New York Giants WR Jalin Hyatt (undisclosed) participated in the joint practice with the New York Jets Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Link to storyNew York Giants WR Malik Nabers (shoulder) is out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Footballguys view: Nabers has been trying to manage a toe issue that Daboll said dates back to his time in college. But SNY.tv's Connor Hughes contends that Nabers not practicing is very noteworthy. The second-year receiver was practicing fully early in camp, left the Aug. 6 session early, saying it was part of the plan, and that he was fine. Nabers has not worked since. The Giants' top receiver is also not likely to be available for Saturday night's exhibition game against the Jets. We'll continue to monitor this one closely. |
New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. rushed for nine yards on three carries in the preseason game against the Buffalo Bills Saturday, Aug. 9. He also caught two passes for seven yards during the game.
Footballguys view: It looks like Tracy will be the lead back for the Giants going into the season opener at Washington. Fourth round pick Cam Skattebo has been sidelined wit a hamstring injury, but according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, there was never really a competition between the twp for the lead back job. |
New York Giants RB Cam Skattebo (hamstring) was unable to make his preseason debut due to a hamstring injury. He remains listed behind starter RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. and veteran journeyman RB Devin Singletary on the team's first initial preseason depth chart.
