Packers | Christopher Brooks works with starters Fri May 29, 04:21 PM
Green Bay Packers RB Christopher Brooks took first-team reps during 11-on-11 drills at OTAs on Wednesday, May 27.
Footballguys view: Brooks' strength is his passing down skills, but with Emanuel Wilson gone to Seattle in free agency and MarShawn Lloyd once again "working off to the side", Brooks is the primary backup to Josh Jacobs, who was in the news because of domestic violence allegations earlier this week. We should know if the Packers expect Jacobs to miss time due to a suspension by whether they decide to improve their running back bench.
Green Bay Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd (undisclosed) was limited to individual drills at OTAs Wednesday, May 27.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd has looked good so far this offseason, but head coach Matt LaFleur said Lloyd will have to show consistency during offseason workouts and training camp in order to have a role in the offense.
Footballguys view: The Packers let running back Emanuel Wilson depart in free agency and did not replace him with a pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. That's viewed as a signal of the team's remaining confidence in 2024 Lloyd, who has been limited by injuries to just one appearance since his arrival. The Packers also have Chris Brooks, Pierre Strong Jr., and Damien Martinez behind Josh Jacobs, who is now dealing with off-field issues. One concern: Lloyd is not working fully at this point -- something all involved need to see when training camp opens.
Running back Josh Jacobs has been released from jail Wednesday after his arrest on several domestic violence charges. No charges have been filed at this time, but the Brown County (Wisconsin) District Attorney's Office said the investigation "remains open and ongoing."
Footballguys view: Jacobs, 28, was booked Tuesday on charges of battery, criminal damage to property, domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. Jacobs, through his attorneys, denied the allegations on Tuesday. Head coach Matt LaFleur opened a Wednesday press conference by making his first public comments on Jacobs. "I'm gonna stick with the statement that we put out as an organization and just let the process play out," LaFleur said. It's safe to say this story is moving fast. Fantasy investors should follow LaFleur's lead and take a beat here to see how it plays out.

Green Bay Packers DE Micah Parsons (knee) will likely start training camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.
Footballguys view: ESPN's Adam Schefter recently suggested that Parson is a candidate to start the 2026 regular season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list. If so, he'd miss at least the first six games, so his progress is worth watching when camp opens. The Packers don't have another proven edge rusher after they traded Rashan Gary to the Cowboys in the offseason. We'll be monitoring the reports on 2023 first round pick Lukas Van Ness and this year's fourth round pick Dani Dennis-Sutton to see if edge rush help is on the way while Parsons is on the mend.

Green Bay Packers OT Zach Tom (knee) is unlikely to be on the field until training camp, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers TE Tucker Kraft (knee) hopefully will be available for the start of training camp or shortly after camp starts, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.
Footballguys view: "He looks so good, you'd want to put him out there," LaFleur said of Kraft. "But certainly we're still early in that process. Hopefully, he'll be ready to go either by training camp or early in training camp." Kraft was off to a strong start before his injury last season, with 32 catches for 489 yards and six touchdowns in eight games. If he's healthy, he's a big part of the Packers' offense and one of the best tight ends in football. LaFleur sounds confident that Kraft, who currently boasts a TE6 ADP, will be healthy in Week 1.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur opened a Wednesday press conference by making his first public comments on running back Josh Jacobs' arrest. "I'm gonna stick with the statement that we put out as an organization and just let the process play out," LaFleur said, via Michael Gross of Fox 11 News.
Footballguys view: Jacobs was arrested in Wisconsin over the weekend and faces five criminal charges, including a felony charge of strangulation. The Packers released a statement saying they were aware of the matter and declining further comment. LaFleur was asked whether the team would be making plans to play without Jacobs for some portion of the season and said, "A lot's gonna happen between now and then" before answering another question about the overall makeup of the running back group. "I like the guys that we have, but, certainly, you can never have enough," LaFleur said. Stay tuned.

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs has two years and $25 million left on his contract and would carry $6.25 million of dead cap space if released. It would be $3.125 million in 2026 and 2027 after June 1.

Green Bay Packers star running back Josh Jacobs was arrested Tuesday and booked on several domestic violence charge. According to Brown County jail records, the strangulation and suffocation charge is a felony, and the other four charges are misdemeanors. According to the records, Jacobs was being held without bond.
Footballguys view: As noted in a previous item, Jacobs, through his attorneys, denied the allegations. A first-team All-Pro in 2022 with the Raiders, Jacobs is entering his third season with the Packers after signing with the team in free agency in 2024. Last season, he scored 14 total touchdowns (13 rushing) and totaled 1,211 yards in 15 games. The Packers said they were aware of the matter involving Jacobs. The NFL has also been in contact with the Packers. Green Bay began OTAs on Tuesday, and coach Matt LaFleur has a scheduled availability with the media later today.

After a complaint on May 23 and a subsequent investigation, Packers RB Josh Jacobs was arrested this morning and booked into Brown County Jail on five charges: battery/domestic abuse, criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim.
Footballguys view: While it's far too early to assess the fallout, we wanted to get it on your radar. These are serious charges -- but at this point, they're just that, and Jacobs, through his attorney, "vehemently denies the allegations." The Packers offered the following comment: "We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment." The NFL is also aware. We'll obviously be following up as developments warrant, but if you're in the middle of a draft, avoiding the situation until we get more information isn't a horrible idea.

Green Bay Packers director of football operations Milt Hendrickson was promoted to vice president of player personnel Tuesday, May 19. John Wojciechowski was promoted to director-football operations. Other promotions include: director of player personnel Richmond Williams, director of pro scouting Lee Gissendaner, senior player personnel executive Matt Malaspina, director of college scouting Pat Moore, senior national scout Sam Seale, national scout Luke Benuska and assistant director of pro scouting Mike Owen.

Link to storyGreen Bay Packers DE Micah Parsons (knee) is a candidate to start the 2026 season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Adam Schefter.
Footballguys view: Minnesota, the Jets, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Chicago, and Dallas would dodge Parsons if he starts the season on the PUP list.

Green Bay Packers second-round draft choice CB Brandon Cisse signed a four-year contract with the Packers Thursday, May 14. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Cisse thrived as a perimeter corner in the SEC. Quarterbacks averaged only 34.6 percent completion percentage when throwing in Cisse's direction. His size/athleticism combination makes him a perfect pick for the Packers.
Green Bay Packers TE Luke Lachey (undisclosed) was waived Thursday, May 14, with a failed physical designation.

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden will receive a bigger role in the offense this upcoming season and should see an increase in his production, according to offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich.
Footballguys view: After Romeo Doubs left in free agency and Dontayvion Wicks was traded to Philadelphia, there's a path for Golden to succeed. Christian Watson will be the field-stretcher. Jayden Reed should return to a featured role after missing nine games to injury. But Golden, a 2025 first-round pick -- Green Bay's first wideout taken in Round 1 in over two decades -- will get ample opportunity to prove his worth. Golden is being drafted as WR52. Landing him as your WR4 or WR5 in Round 10 in hopes of a breakout is a reasonable approach.
Tight end Tucker Kraft suffered a torn ACL in November, prematurely ending what was a breakout season. He should be back for the majority of 2026, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. "Tuck's been in here every day, and he's obviously a little bit ahead of schedule," Gutekunst said in a recent interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio.
Footballguys view: In eight games last year, Kraft caught 32 passes for 489 yards with six touchdowns. Speaking to reporters early in January, Kraft was already claiming to be ahead of schedule. Worth noting: Packers teammate Christian Watson tore his ACL on January 5th, 2025. He returned to action on October 26th, 2025. Watson's return to game action took 294 days. Kraft tore his ACL on November 2nd, 2025. 294 days from that date is August 23rd, 2026, so it's absolutely possible he'll be game-ready at some point during training camp. It's a situation worth watching.

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst shared that DE Micah Parsons is recovering well and the team expects him to be 'back early in the season.'
Footballguys view: Parsons suffered a torn ACL in December, cutting off his strong first season with Green Bay. He tallied 12.5 sacks with 12 tackles for loss and 27 quarterback hits, earning AP first-team All-Pro honors for the third time, despite playing just 14 games. We'll be watching his progress closely in coming weeks.

Free-agent WR Chase Claypool (Bills) will not be signing with the Green Bay Packers after he participated in the team's rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.
Footballguys view: Claypool was one of nine players to try out for the team during their rookie minicamp over the weekend. None of the nine tryout players were signed. Claypool was drafted 49th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2020 NFL Draft. In 58 career games, Claypool totaled 175 receptions, 2,261 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns. He remains an unrestricted free agent available to any team interested.

Green Bay Packers QB Desmond Ridder was released Monday, May 4, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The Packers are choosing to move forward with Kyle McCord over Ridder, as far as their reserve-futures quarterbacks go. The move came after the Packers signed veteran Tyrod Taylor as the presumptive backup to Jordan Love. Moving forward, the team has starter Jordan Love, Taylor, McCord, and undrafted rookie Kyron Drones. According to SBNation, with the lanes cleared, all eyes will be on McCord this offseason, who can compete for QB2 on the 53-man roster or a spot on the practice squad.
Free-agent QB Tyrod Taylor (Jets) agreed to terms with the Green Bay Packers Monday, May 4, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Taylor is now the favorite to back up Jordan Love, who is entering his fourth season as a starter. Taylor would replace Malik Willis, who played behind Love the past two seasons before signing with the Dolphins in free agency. Before signing the 36-year-old Taylor, the only other quarterbacks the Packers had on the roster were Desmond Ridder, who is being released today, and Kyle McCord. Taylor was a sixth-round pick of the Ravens in 2011, one of only five players from that draft still active in 2025. For his career, Taylor is 29-31-1 as a starter.

Green Bay Packers QBs Kyle McCord and Desmond Ridder are battling to serve as the backup quarterback behind starter QB Jordan Love. The team could also add another veteran arm sometime this summer or during training camp.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers CB Brandon Cisse was lauded for his consistency and maturity by University of South Carolina co-defensive coordinator Torrian Gray. However, Gray said he still needs to refine the press technique, something he didn't work on a lot at his previous stops in college. He also needs to continue improving defending the deep ball.
Link to storyUpdating previous reports, undrafted free-agent QB Kyron Drones (Virginia Tech), TE RJ Maryland (SMU), RB Jaden Nixon (UCF) and WR J. Michael Sturdivant (Florida) officially signed with the Green Bay Packers Friday, May 1. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

SMU TE RJ Maryland is signing as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Maryland is a linear athlete, but he ran a 4.51 at 6'4" 236 and looks like a wide receiver tracking and catching the ball downfield. He was coming off of a 2024 ACL tear last year, so there could be hidden upside to this wide receiver/tight end tweener - an archetype that has produced unlikely fantasy football hits in the past.
Virginia Tech QB Kyron Drones agreed to terms with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, April 26, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyFlorida WR J. Michael Sturdivant agreed to terms with the Green Bay Packers Saturday, April 25, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Sturdivant is a big (6'2" 207) receiver with speed (4.4 40) whose quarterback did him no favors when it came time to put good plays on tape for the NFL. He will be in contention to make the Packers roster after the team lost Romeo Doubs in free agency.
Wake Forest TE Eni Falayi signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent Saturday, April 25, according to a source.
