Buccaneers | Michael Wiley to Bucs' practice squad Wed Oct 15, 10:45 AM
Free-agent RB Michael Wiley (Chiefs) signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad Wednesday, Oct. 15. TE Caden Prieskorn was released.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers RB Owen Wright reverted back to the practice squad Monday, Oct. 13, after being on the active roster for the Week 6 game.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) could practice this week, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: According to FOX Sports' Greg Auman, Evans' initial three-to-four-week timeline, he's now missed three games, is worth noting here. "How he feels there Friday-Saturday will determine whether he can go Monday vs. Lions in Detroit," Auman wrote. With the Lions and Bucs playing on Monday night, that gives Evans an extra day this week to get right, increasing his chances of playing. The fact that Chris Godwin (leg) and Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) are already ruled out, and Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) could also miss time, makes Evan's status more important. We'll have more when the Bucs begin practicing Thursday. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (leg) is 'not in play' for Week 7, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: "Chris is not in play to practice, so I'm sure he won't be back," Bowles said Monday. Godwin is dealing with a fibula injury that Bowles has described as "week to week." Remember, rookie Emeka Egbuka could also miss time with a hamstring injury suffered in Sunday's win over the 49ers. Mike Evans, who's missed the three games with a hamstring injury, could return this week. Sterling Shepherd and rookie Tez Johnson will move up in the rotation as needed. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) is 'not in play' for Week 7, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: Irving missed his second-straight game Sunday. The Buccaneers won both games in his absence with backup Rachaad White carrying a majority of the load -- but that's not to say the running game has been successful, as they've had mixed results in Irving's absence. With Irving out a third week in a row, White will once again assume the bell-cow role, with reserve Sean Tucker seeing increased time as well. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) will undergo an MRI Monday, Oct. 13, and is expected to miss some time.
Footballguys view: Although Egbuka could miss time, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted the injury "does not seem serious." Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio reported the same Sunday night. We'll continue to watch for more on this while noting Rapoport joined the chorus reminding us that wide receiver Mike Evans is nearing a return and that Chris Godwin is listed week-to-week with his fibula injury. Sterling Shepherd and Tez Johnson will move up in the rotation as needed. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Tez Johnson registered a 45-yard touchdown for his lone reception on three targets in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Rachaad White rushed 17 times for 65 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers, while adding three receptions for 21 yards on three targets.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield completed 17-of-23 passes for 256 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers, while running three times for 14 yards.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Yaya Diaby posted three solo stops, two sacks, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hits in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Link to storyYaya Diaby player page
Tampa Bay Buccaneers S Antoine Winfield Jr. posted a team-high nine total tackles with five solo stops in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Link to storyBuccaneers star rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka exited Sunday's win over the 49ers with a hamstring injury. Whether he'll miss the Week 7 Monday night showdown with the Lions remains to be seen. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the injury currently isn't believed to be serious. However, the full details will be determined via an MRI. Based on the results of the imaging, Emeka could miss time.
Footballguys view: As previously noted, the Bucs already are without receiver Mike Evans and receiver Chris Godwin. Evans remains out with a hamstring injury, and Godwin missed Sunday's game with a fibula issue. Egbuka had only two catches for 24 yards on Sunday. For the season, he has 27 catches for 469 yards and five touchdowns. We'll continue to follow up as developments warrant. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers OG Luke Haggard (shoulder) did not return to the Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers after leaving with a shoulder injury.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka suffered a hamstring injury against the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday's 30-19 win and was ruled out.
Footballguys view: The injury potentially leaves quarterback Baker Mayfield even more short-handed in the passing game. The Bucs are already without Mike Evans, who has missed three games with a hamstring strain. Then Chris Godwin suffered a fibula injury two games after returning from ankle surgery. RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) also missed a second game with his injuries. Evans has not returned to practice yet, but his initial timeline for recovery was three to four weeks; he could return next week against the Lions. Coach Todd Bowles said Godwin's injury is "week-to-week." We'll have more on Egbuka as developments warrant. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) left the Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers due to a hamstring injury, and he is considered doubtful to return. If he is done for the day, he would finish with two receptions for 24 yards on four targets.
Footballguys view: The Bucs did everything they could in the offseason to avoid having their wide receiver depth tested after losing their top three receivers last year. It is only Week 6, and it has happened again this year. Just like last year, Baker Mayfield is somehow still finding a way to be productive. Mike Evans did not practice at all this week. The Bucs play the Lions on Monday night, but it still might be a stretch for Evans to be ready to play. Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard are next men up at wide receiver and will be part of the Week 7 waiver wire discussion because of how well Mayfield is playing and the quality of the matchup at Detroit. |
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have declared WR Mike Evans, CB Benjamin Morrison, RB Bucky Irving, RB Josh Williams, CB Zyon McCollum and WR Chris Godwin inactive for Week 6.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad RB Owen Wright was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Oct. 11, and will be available for the Week 6 game.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Jalen McMillan (neck) is hopeful that he can return to action this year, according to head coach Todd Bowles. He is currently using a neck brace and is on the Reserve/Injured list after he sustained a sprained neck during the preseason.
Footballguys view: Neck injuries are scary to deal with. It sounds like McMillan is having a positive recovery. Most reports suggested McMillan would be out of action until after the Buccaneers' Week 9 bye. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and has been ruled out for Week 6.
Footballguys view: There was little expectation that Godwin would play this week. He had been easing back into his role over the last couple of weeks before this injury. We'll wait for more news on the severity, but this is a tough loss for the Buccaneers, who are also expected to miss Mike Evans this week. The 49ers are banged up as well. What looked like a star-studded matchup on paper will likely feature many reserve players in significant roles. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring), WR Chris Godwin (fibula), RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder), CB Zyon McCollum (thumb), CB Benjamin Morrison (hamstring), and RB Josh Williams (concussion) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. DB Christian Izien (quad) practiced in full on Friday, Oct. 10, and is listed as questionable. QB Teddy Bridgewater (shoulder) and LB Lavonte David (knee) were limited in practice all week and no longer appear on the injury report. CB Jamel Dean (hip) and OT Tristan Wirfs (knee) practiced in full on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) has been ruled out of the Week 6 game, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: Evans left Week 3's game with an injury and hasn't logged a practice since. Chris Godwin is also out in this game. Emeka Egbuka will be the obvious WR1. Expect Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson, and Cade Otton all to see a bit more work in this matchup against a similarly banged-up 49ers team. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) has been ruled out of the Week 6 game, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: Irving missed all week of practice and was trending towards missing this game, so no big shock here. He'll try again next week. In his absence, Rachaad White is expected to shoulder the load against the 49ers. White had an apparent stranglehold on the backfield last week and finished as the RB7. Fire him up as a high-end RB2 in Week 6. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (ankle, shoulder) will likely miss the Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers and possibly the Week 7 contest against the Detroit Lions, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: The shoulder problem seems to be more bothersome than the ankle problem according to reports. The Buccaneers will give Irving the time he needs to properly heal, and that means he's unlikely to play in Week 6. Rachaad White and Sean Tucker will spearhead the Buccaneers' backfield against the 49ers on Sunday. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring), WR Chris Godwin (fibula), RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder), CB Zyon McCollum (thumb) and CB Benjamin Morrison (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Footballguys view: Initial reports had Irving out a couple of weeks. He missed Week 5, and it seems unlikely he'll play in Week 6. That means Rachaad White is the lead back and Sean Tucker will get spot duty when White needs a breather. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Footballguys view: Godwin is likely getting a rest day here. He's had 10 targets in the last two weeks, and the veteran receiver is a WR3/flex for Fantasy GMs out there. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Footballguys view: There's a chance we could see Evans out there on Sunday against the 49ers. However, it first seemed like Evans would need a month to get right. That makes a return in Week 7 or Week 8 more likely. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cade Otton caught four passes for 81 yards in a 38-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka caught all seven of his targets for 163 yards and a touchdown in a 38-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.
Footballguys view: As NFL.com suggests, Egbuka is the early favorite for Offensive Rookie of the Year race. With Chris Godwin and Mike Evans missing time, Egbuka quickly gained the trust of Baker Mayfield, which is reflected in his fantastic start: 25 catches, 445 yards, and five touchdowns in five games. Egbuka was a vital part of Sunday's shootout victory. He became just the fourth player in the Super Bowl era to record 20-plus receptions, 400-plus receiving yards, and five-plus receiving touchdowns in their first five games, joining Ja'Marr Chase, Terry McLaurin, and Randy Moss. Chase and Moss won OROY in those seasons. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Sean Tucker ran three times for three yards and lost one yard on three receptions in a 38-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Rachaad White rushed 14 times for 41 yards and two touchdowns and caught four passes for 30 yards in a 38-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield completed 29 of his 33 passes for 379 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 15 yards in a 38-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.
Footballguys view: Mayfield was impressive, completing 9 of his 11 passes of 10-plus air yards for 227 yards and two touchdowns, the third-most downfield passing yards in a game this season. Mayfield's success came despite being pressured on 34.2 percent of his dropbacks. He completed 8 of 9 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown under pressure. He now has the fourth-most deep passing yards (681) and the third-most passing yards under pressure (440). Lock Mayfield back into the top-10 regardless of the matchup. The Buccaneers face the Jaguars in Week 6. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (shoulder, foot) is dealing with a shoulder subluxation and is not expected to be available for the Week 6 game, according to sources. Irving is also dealing with a sprained foot, but the shoulder is believed to be a bigger issue.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers RB Rachaad White is expected to receive the bulk of the offensive snaps in the backfield for Week 5's game versus the Seattle Seahawks, since RB Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) has already been ruled out, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. RBs Sean Tucker and Josh Williams could see some carries as well.

DL Greg Gaines (pectoral), WR Chris Godwin (ankle), DL Logan Hall (groin), OT Charlie Heck (knee), QB Baker Mayfield (knee, bicep), CB Zyon McCollum (thumb), LB Haason Reddick (neck), WR Sterling Shepard (foot), S Tykee Smith (ankle), and OT Tristan Wirfs (knee)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (foot) was ruled out for Week 5.
Footballguys view: Irving's likelihood of playing this week was slim, and most fantasy managers have already prepared for his absence. Rachaad White will likely fill in as the primary running back. But Sean Tucker is a versatile back who should be in the mix as well. Seattle's defense is far from a pushover. However, White was a top-five fantasy running back just two years ago. His role as a pass-catcher should help him generate fantasy points regardless of the game script. Fire him up as a high-end RB2 and treat Tucker as a desperation flex if you don't have better options. |
