We have a great staff on our hand and they are going to get me right.' He tore his ACL the near end of practice in late July during a two-minute drill. He spent a lot of time in the film room during rehab, and he feels he is a better student of the game.

He ended up with 39 receptions for 371 yards, but he was inactive for the final four games. He received bonuses for all of the incentives.

He showed speed, quickness, and agility, and brought energy to the offense. But Evans caught only 30 passes and saw his NFL record-tying streak of 11 straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons come to an end. Evans will be an unrestricted free agent next month. If he does decide to play, will it be in Tampa Bay? Two years ago, Evans received interest from the Chiefs and Texans. He could draw interest again.

However, things change in the NFL - even for long-time veterans like Evans. Coming off his first non-1,000-yard receiving season, Evans may be looking for a fresh start. He's not quite the player he used to be, but Evans could be in for a bounce-back season in 2026...in Tampa or somewhere else.

Footballguys view: In the first half of the 2025 season in 2025, Mayfield looked like an MVP candidate. But he was hampered by left and right shoulder injuries and a knee injury down the stretch. The Bucs' playcalling also took a step backward in 2025, with Josh Grizzard not able to fill the void left by Liam Coen. The hope is that new OC Zach Robinson, who was serving as passing game coordinator and QB coach for the Rams when Mayfield arrived in Los Angeles late in the 2022 season -- when Mayfield had instant success -- will change things for the better.

Running a McVay/Shanahan system, Robinson would emphasize wide-zone concepts and the ground game on offense.

Baker Mayfield was actually very good against Houston and Seattle before getting hurt against Detroit in Week 7, so whoever the team hires may be a success even if they aren't any better than the recently-fired Josh Grizzard.

The Buccaneers are trying to find more spark on offense, and Kubiak's West Coach (Shanahan) offense would provide just that.
