San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 15, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Pearsall missed Week 6 with this knee injury. There's a chance he has to miss more time. Stay tuned. |
San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (hamstring) hopefully will be able to participate in practice this week, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Kittle, who has been on injured reserve since Week 2 because of a strained right hamstring, will begin his 21-day practice window this week with a chance to play against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night. "That's the hope," Shanahan said. We'll be following up on Kittle's progress as the week progresses. |

San Francisco 49ers LB Fred Warner (ankle) is scheduled to undergo surgery on his ankle Tuesday, Oct. 14. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Warner is expected to be ready for offseason workouts.
Footballguys view: "I think usually things like this are around three months," Shanahan said. "But, I haven't asked all the questions you guys are asking me yet, but I assume he'll be good for the offseason workouts and stuff like that." Warner has missed only one game in his eight-year career, sitting out a game in 2021 with a hamstring injury. He played through a broken bone in his ankle last season. |

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy's (toe) practice participation for this week will not be known until Wednesday, Oct. 15, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Purdy hasn't been able to practice since he aggravated a turf toe injury in Week 4. Still, he resumed conditioning work on the side last Thursday, signaling that he's making progress in his recovery. As CBSSports.com noted, Purdy missed four games in all due to health concerns (Weeks 2-3 and 5-6), with backup Mac Jones filling in well during Purdy's absence. If Purdy can practice on Wednesday, he could be on a path to return to action this coming Sunday versus the Falcons. |
San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall's (knee) practice participation for this week will not be known until Wednesday, Oct. 15, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Pearsall has missed two weeks of practice since injuring the PCL in his right knee in Week 4 against the Jaguars. Still, the wide receiver resumed conditioning work on the side last Thursday, indicating that he's making progress in his recovery. As CBSSports.com suggested, Wednesday's practice report will reveal whether or not Pearsall was able to mix into drills. Whatever the case, the 49ers are getting healthier, with Brock Purdy and TE George Kittle expected back at practice whether Pearsall is or not. |
San Francisco 49ers WR Jordan Watkins (calf) is expected to participate in practice this week, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

San Francisco 49ers TE Jake Tonges ended up with six receptions for 58 yards on seven targets in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Link to story49ers WR Kendrick Bourne had five catches for a game-high 142 yards in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.
Footballguys view: With 142 receiving yards last week and again today, Bourne has registered 100 or more receiving yards in consecutive games for the first time in his career. Bourne also became the first 49ers WR to register consecutive games with 100-or-more receiving since former WR Deebo Samuel Sr. did so in the 2023 season. Bourne continued starting in place of Ricky Pearsall (knee), while Jauan Jennings (ribs) returned in a limited capacity but revealed that he was playing with five broken ribs after the contest. If Pearsall is forced to miss a third consecutive game in Week 7, Bourne's stock would remain elevated. |

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey ran 17 times for 54 yards and his first rushing touchdown of the season in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he racked up seven receptions for 57 yards on eight targets.

San Francisco wide receiver Jauan Jennings played today after being listed as questionable with ankle and rib injuries, and afterward, he detailed just how badly injured he is. "Playing with injuries is just something that's part of it," Jennings said. "You've got high, low ankle sprains, you've got shoulders 20 percent, you've got ribs, five broken ribs. It is what it is. You keep playing. Nobody cares, you keep playing. That's what we do."
Footballguys view: Jennings clarified that he has both one high and one low ankle sprain, and that he broke his ribs against the Jaguars in Week 4. "I've got five broken ribs," Jennings said. He also discussed the reality of playing hut. "It's football. I love pain, I wouldn't be playing this sport if I didn't," Jennings said. The ailments took a toll on his production in the Week 6 defeat. He caught just one pass for seven yards in a game where the 49ers largely moved the ball well through the air. |

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers LB Fred Warner (ankle) will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a dislocated and broken ankle in the Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Sunday, Oct. 12. Warner will undergo surgery.

San Francisco 49ers LB Fred Warner (leg) left the Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to an apparent left leg injury. He was rolled up on making a tackle, and his left leg buckled and bent the wrong way. He was down for a while, eventually fitted with an air cast before being carted off. It certainly looks like a serious injury.
Footballguys view: Warner and Nick Bosa (who is already out for the season with a torn ACL) are the heart of the 49ers defense. This could push them into more high-scoring games and put some pressure on GM John Lynch to acquire a pass rusher. |

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and has been ruled out for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Purdy suffered a reported setback with his toe injury. The team is considering him week-to-week. Mac Jones has been starting for Purdy and has won all three of his starts. Purdy is expected to return to his role when he's healthy, but it might be a while, as turf toe is notoriously fickle. |
San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and has been ruled out for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Pearsall started the year averaging 81.8 receiving yards per game, still the fifth-most among receivers. Unfortunately, he'll miss his second straight game as he recovers from a knee injury. Jauan Jennings is questionable for this matchup against the Buccaneers. If he's active, he'll probably serve as the WR1. If Kendrick Bourne is still on waivers after his big game last week, he makes for a good stash in the event that Jennings can't go. |
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Wednesday's missed practice for McCaffrey was just a normal rest day. He should be active, and we've got him ranked as the RB2 for Week 6. |

San Francisco 49ers QB Mac Jones (knee, oblique) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Jones has been limited all week, but indications are that he should be ready to start against the Buccaneers. Brock Purdy has already been declared out for Week 6. Jones is 3-0 in his starts this year, having done more than enough to keep the ship afloat in San Francisco. Despite some early-career struggles, Jones, now a 27-year-old vet, is becoming one of the league's better backups. He's a viable streaming option in this matchup. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings (ankle, rib) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Jennings has been powering through injuries most of this season. In the one game where he appeared healthy, he dominated, registering 89 yards and a touchdown on ten targets. Assuming he's active, he can be relied on as a WR2. Check in on Sunday to see if there are any reports about a limited role, in which case we'll have updated rankings available. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Kendrick Bourne (rib) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Bourne stepped up massively for Mac Jones last week with Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings both inactive. He might have his opportunity again. If Jennings is active, Bourne can be started as a legitimate WR2 in fantasy. If either Jennings is active, however, it's hard to view him as more than a dart throw. |

San Francisco 49ers DE Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring, knee), WR Ricky Pearsall (knee), QB Brock Purdy (toe), and WR Jordan Watkins (calf) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. DT Kevin Givens (pectoral) was limited in practice on Friday, Oct. 10, and has been ruled out. DT Alfred Collins, DT Kalia Davis (hand), WR Jauan Jennings (ankle, rib), QB Mac Jones (knee, oblique), and CB Upton Stout (ankle) were limited in practice on Friday and are listed as questionable. S Malik Mustapha (knee) practiced in full and is listed as questionable. San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) is unlikely to practice Thursday, Oct. 9, according to general manager John Lynch.
Footballguys view: Pearsall didn't practice on Wednesday after missing Week 5 with this PCL injury. Now, he's missed two days in a row and is trending towards missing this game on Sunday against the Buccaneers. |
