Browns | Isaiah Bond still subject to NFL discipline Sun Aug 31, 11:43 AM
The National Football League is still reviewing the sexual assault case of Cleveland Browns WR Isaiah Bond, even though there are no longer pending charges, according to league spokesman Brian McCarthy. He remains subject to NFL discipline, although no decision appears imminent.
Link to storyThe National Football League is still reviewing the misdemeanor domestic battery case of Cleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins, even though there are no longer pending charges, according to league spokesman Brian McCarthy. He remains subject to discipline from the league, although no decision appears imminent.
Footballguys view: This is at least one of the reasons that Judkins hasn't signed yet. It's not clear when the league will conclude their investigation. Judkins camp and the Browns are also going to have to find a common ground to finalize changes to the contract that are called for in light of Judkins domestic violence incident and any league response to it. It's a stretch to imagine Judkins being ready to play in Week 1, and the impact he can make after that is subject to numerous variables, including the play of fellow rookie Dylan Sampson and passing down back Jerome Ford. If you take Judkins, you will have to hold him for an indefinite number of weeks before you even know what you have. |

Cleveland Browns PK Dustin Hopkins was released on Tuesday, Aug. 26, as the team cuts down to its 53-man roster.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com noted, Hopkins logged the worst season of his NFL career with Cleveland in 2024, converting just 18 of 27 field-goal attempts (67 percent) and 17 of 20 extra-point tries across 16 regular-season appearances. The team will instead opt to move forward with Andre Szmyt and potentially add further competition at the kicker spot. Fantasy investors would be wise to look elsewhere for their kicking spot. |

Cleveland Browns RB Pierre Strong was released Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Link to storyCleveland Browns WR Diontae Johnson was released Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Footballguys view: As The Sporting News suggested, it's a surprise based on name value and expectation, but not necessarily by performance. After stops with three teams last season, the Browns seemed as good a destination as any this offseason for Johnson. Their WR depth chart was relatively wide open behind Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman. But the emergence of undrafted Gage Larvadain and the recent signing of Isaiah Bond, coupled with a solid preseason from Jamari Thrash, spelled the end for Johnson. And, as The Athletic's Zac Jackson wrote. "When you can't make this receiving corps, you might be out of chances." |

Cleveland Browns WR Diontae Johnson had one reception for 12 yards in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 23.
Footballguys view: Johnson is on the roster bubble and nowhere near reasserting himself to the level he was seen at in fantasy and NFL terms going into last season. He's not worth a roster spot in typical dynasty leagues. |

Cleveland Browns CB Greg Newsome II (shoulder) went through pregame routines, but he did not play against the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 23. LB Mohamoud Diabate (undisclosed), OT Cornelius Lucas (ankle) and LB Winston Reid (back) are also nursing injuries, and each remained sidelined.

Cleveland Browns CB Denzel Ward Jr. (shoulder) did not play in the preseason finale, as expected, but the team is hopeful he'll be ready for the Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, Sept. 7.
Footballguys view: If Ward isn't ready for Week 1, the Browns defense will be without their best corner against one of the most prolific passing games in the league. We'll be monitoring this and reflecting it in our Week 1 projections. |

Cleveland Browns DT Adin Huntington was notified he has a spot on the 53-man regular-season roster. 'He's on our football team,' head coach Kevin Stefanski said of the undrafted rookie from Tulane. '(General manager Andrew Berry) said I could share that with (the media).' Huntington has taken snaps at fullback, contributed on special teams and worked on defense, posting 1.5 sacks and four tackles with a forced fumble in the preseason.
Link to storyCleveland Browns WR Cade McDonald (concussion) and RB Pierre Strong Jr. (concussion) left the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 23, and each were placed in the concussion protocol.
Link to storyCleveland Browns TE Blake Whiteheart (knee) suffered a knee injury in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams, and he is expected to undergo further testing. He is battling for the No. 3 TE job behind TEs David Njoku and Harold Fannin Jr.

Cleveland Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr. had a touchdown reception in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 23, from QB Joe Flacco. 'It's definitely special. Growing up in Northeast Ohio, everybody loves the Browns. Actually to get drafted to the Browns and actually score a touchdown for the Browns, it's such a so real thing. My parents were there, so made it even better, too,' Fannin said.
Footballguys view: Fannin should have a role in the Browns offense right away. That could hurt David Njoku's ceiling, while not necessarily making Fannin fantasy relevant this year. Fannin's development is a great sign for his dynasty value, but he's not going to take off until Njoku isn't with the Browns, which could be next year, when Njoku is a free agent. |
Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders completed 3-of-6 passes for 14 yards while getting sacked five times in the preseason finale Saturday, Aug. 23 against the Los Angeles Rams. 'I'm committed to his development, just like everybody's,' head coach Kevin Stefanski said Sunday, Aug. 24. Sanders is battling for the No. 3 job with fellow rookie QB Dillon Gabriel.
Link to storyCleveland Browns DE Julian Okwara (rib) is dealing with a rib injury he picked up in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 23 against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Sunday, Aug. 24, he'd have an update in a couple of days. Okwara is down the depth chart, simply battling for a roster spot, and the injury could make a difference in whether he is kept or cut loose.

Link to storyCleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said the team is taking things day-to-day with unsigned second-round draft choice RB Quinshon Judkins.

Link to storyCleveland Browns C Ethan Pocic (knee) suffered a knee injury during the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 23, and has been ruled out.
Link to storyCleveland Browns RB Dylan Sampson will push Jerome Ford for carries while Quinshon Judkins' status is up in the air, according to ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.
Footballguys view: The Browns are reportedly in the market for a back, and Judkins could (should?) join the team at some point this year. Cleveland had the lowest scoring offense in the league last year, and the 2025 version of Joe Flacco probably isn't going to change that. Neither of these backs are more than late round fliers. |
Cleveland Browns WR Isaiah Bond will play in the team's final preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, Aug. 23, according to a report from Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Bond practiced for a third straight day on Thursday after signing a three-year contract worth $3.018 million on Monday.
Footballguys view: The Browns just picked up Bond, and he's ready for some preseason action. Bond needs to get up to speed, so preseason playing time is a must. To begin the regular season, Bond is unlikely to be a fantasy asset. However, if he pops in the way he could on a team in need of playmakers on offense, Bond could be a 'what the heck' flex. |
Cleveland Browns QB Kenny Pickett (hamstring) will not play in the final preseason game because of his hamstring injury, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Footballguys view: By missing this game, Pickett will have missed every preseason contest this year. That means the Browns won't get to see him in action and will likely have to carry four quarterbacks. In the preseason finale, rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders will be under center for the Browns. If Pickett's injury carries into the regular season, then Gabriel or Sanders will be the primary backup to Joe Flacco. |
Cleveland Browns WR Cedric Tillman (thumb) did not practice on Thursday, Aug. 21, according to a report Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com. Tillman also did not practice on Wednesday.
