New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson (knee) will not practice on Wednesday, Oct. 15, according to head coach Aaron Glenn.
Footballguys view: Most reporters believe Wilson is going to have to miss a couple of games. That means the Jets could be turning to Arian Smith and Tyler Johnson as Josh Reynolds is also battling an injury. |
Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson (knee) is expected to miss at least one week because of a hyperextended knee, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Wilson was hurt late in Sunday's 13-11 loss to the Broncos in London. There's some thought that Wilson could return after the bye week. The Jets (0-6) have two games before their bye -- Sunday against the Carolina Panthers and Oct. 26 at the Cincinnati Bengals. New York returns from its bye to host the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 9. Wilson is the team's top perimeter weapon. He leads the Jets with 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns. The next-closest wide receiver is Josh Reynolds, who has eight catches for 72 yards. |
New York Jets WR Brandon Smith and WR Isaiah Williams reverted back to the practice squad Monday, Oct. 13, after being on the active roster for the Week 6 game.

WR Garrett Wilson underwent an MRI today and appears to have avoided a serious knee injury, a source tells ESPN.com's Rich Cimini, but it probably still means some downtime.
Footballguys view: It's worth noting the Jets have two more games (Carolina at home this week, then at Cincinnati in Week 8) before their Week 9 bye. Cimini believes that could factor into Wilson's timetable. We'll continue to watch for more. |
New York Jets QB Justin Fields had a disappointing performance in Week 6, but head coach Aaron Glenn indicated that he is not thinking about benching Fields since he has played well at times this season.
Footballguys view: As previously noted, Glenn told reporters Monday that he thought Fields "took a step back" in Sunday's loss to the Broncos in London, but the performance won't lead the coach to bench the veteran. "I don't think you just try to bench a player after having one true bad game, because I thought the other games he played fairly well," Glenn said when approached with the idea of sitting Fields. The Jets play the Panthers in Week 7. |

After Sunday's loss to the Broncos, during which the Jets offense gave new meaning to the term "offensive," coach Aaron Glenn bristled at a question regarding whether he'd bench starting quarterback Justin Fields. By Monday morning, Glenn had a more measured response after reflecting on the question that was asked about whether Fields should sit. "When you look at what Justin did, the games that he played," Glenn told reporters. "Listen, I didn't think he was bad at all. I actually thought he did some pretty good things in those four games. In this fifth game, he took a step back."
Footballguys view: A step back is a generous assessment. Fields completed 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards, and he lost 55 yards on nine sacks, resulting in a franchise-low minus-10 net passing yards, the worst by any team in nearly three decades. The Jets play the Panthers and Bengals before their Week 9 bye. It's on Fields to turn it around soon, or Tyrod Taylor will likely be getting a chance to help the Jets turn yet another bad season around -- and to perhaps keep Glenn from being one and done as the team's head coach. |

Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was unhappy with the team's game plan during Sunday's 13-11 loss to the Broncos, and he was in pain after it. Wilson was checked out on the sideline a couple of times during the loss and said after the game that he had X-rays taken. Wilson said he also expects to go for an MRI when the team returns from London.
Footballguys view: Head coach Aaron Glenn said that Wilson hurt his hip, but Wilson said that wasn't the issue of chief concern. Connor Hughes of SNY reports that his knee will be the subject of further tests. ESPN's Rich Cimini reported that the injury "doesn't appear to be an ACL." Wilson managed to stay healthy enough to finish the game. The fourth-year wideout was the target of quarterback Justin Fields' final pass attempt of the game. Stay tuned. |
New York Jets LB Cam Jones (hip) and CB Qwan'tez Stiggers (hip) left the Week 6 game early because of injuries and did not return.

New York Jets DE Jermaine Johnson had five total stops, including four of the solo variety, with one sack, one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos in London.
Link to storyNew York Jets LB Jamien Sherwood posted 13 total stops with six solo tackles, a pass defensed and a quarterback hit in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos.

New York Jets WRs Tyler Johnson and Arian Smith were each targeted once in the Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos, but neither was able to record a reception.

New York Jets TE Andrew Beck had a 6-yard reception on his lone target in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos in London.

New York Jets TE Mason Taylor had a single 2-yard reception on his lone target in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos in London.
Footballguys view: Taylor had back-to-back strong fantasy games as a primary target for Justin Fields, but in this game Fields only completed nine passes. It's going to be tough to trust Taylor again as long as Fields is the quarterback, although the matchup next week against the Panthers defense has been a good one for opposing tight ends. |
New York Jets RB Isaiah Davis ran twice for just two yards in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos in London, while adding one reception for minus-1 yard on his lone target.
Link to storyNew York Jets WR Josh Reynolds caught three passes for 25 yards in Week 6's game versus the Denver Broncos. He was targeted three times and his longest catch was for 11 yards.

New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson caught three passes for 13 yards in Week 6's game versus the Denver Broncos. He was targeted eight times and his longest catch was for seven yards.
Footballguys view: Wilson has been finding a way to put up good fantasy stats despite poor quarterback play no matter who is starting. That didn't happen in London with Patrick Surtain II lining up on Wilson for the Jets. Wilson also came down hard and suffered a knee injury in this game that will require an MRI. We'll keep you updated on his status for the Week 7 against the Panthers. |
New York Jets RB Breece Hall rushed 22 times for 59 yards in Week 6 versus the Denver Broncos.
Footballguys view: Hall got a big workload as a runner, but Justin Fields did not target him in the passing game. The threat of Fields as a runner did not scare the Broncos and open up lanes for Hall either. It was a fantasy dud for Hall despite a good game script with the Jets defense keeping them in the game until the end. Hall is a boom/bust RB2 play against the Panthers next week. |
New York Jets QB Justin Fields went 9-for-17 for 45 passing yards in Week 6's loss to the Denver Broncos, with no touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed seven times for 31 yards.
Footballguys view: Tyrod Taylor is not the answer, but at some point, head coach Aaron Glenn is going to have to consider benching Fields if this continues. The Jets were the fourth team to average less than 1.5 yards per offensive play. One of the other three was the Bears in Fields first NFL start back in 2021. This was also the third time in Fields' career that he has as many or more sacks as completions. Fields will be a boom/bust play against the Panthers next week. |

CB Brandon Stephens (neck) was limited during practice and is listed as questionable. LB Ja'Markis Weston (groin) fully participated in practice but is listed as questionable. New York Jets QB Justin Fields (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Fields has been practicing in full all week, so there was never any concern he'd miss this game. Fields has feasted against bad defenses this year but struggled in his one difficult matchup against Buffalo. Denver qualifies as a difficult matchup. We understand the desire to get Fields into your lineup because of the upside, but he's more of a high-end QB2 this week than a must-start QB1. |

New York Jets QB Justin Fields (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 9.
Footballguys view: Fields has a tough test against the Broncos in London on Sunday morning. This means he's more of a QB2 for Fantasy GMs in Week 6. |

New York Jets TE Mason Taylor caught nine of his 12 targets for 67 yards in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Link to storyNew York Jets WR Garrett Wilson caught six of his 10 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: Wilson's touchdown came in garbage time, but it counts just the same. It hasn't been pretty, but Wilson has been a fantasy WR1 five weeks into the season. He'll be in our lineups, but it won't be a surprise if Patrick Surtain II and Broncos shut him down. |
New York Jets RB Breece Hall rushed 14 times for a season-high 113 yards in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: Hall fumbled in the red zone and appeared to be injured after the play. He came back in the game and ended up putting up a good fantasy stat line even though his team got blown out. Justin Fields helps the running game and he has been targeting Hall in the passing game more over the last two weeks, but this offense feels a bit precarious going into a game against the Broncos. |
New York Jets QB Justin Fields completed 32-of-46 for 283 yards and two touchdowns without an interception and ran for 26 yards in seven carries in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: Fields was good for fantasy, but only because this game was a blowout. Both of the touchdowns came in the fourth quarter, so Fields and the Jets passing game was a bust until garbage time. This against a pass defense that was the worst in the league coming in. Consider Fields a boom/bust play against the Broncos next week. |

New York Jets TE Mason Taylor (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 3, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.
Footballguys view: Taylor has had a quiet start to his rookie campaign, but set career-bests across the board with seven targets, five receptions, and 65 yards last week. It's too early to trust him in fantasy lineups, but he makes for a savvy stash if you're hurting at the tight end position. |
New York Jets CB Michael Carter II (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 3, and has been ruled out for Week 5. DE Jermaine Johnson (ankle) and RB Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) did not practice and are listed as questionable. TE Mason Taylor (ankle), CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr. (ankle) and OG John Simpson (elbow) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

Updating previous reports, New York Jets RB Braelon Allen (knee) will miss eight to 12 weeks, according to head coach Aaron Glenn.
Footballguys view: Allen's injury was initially classified as "serious" yesterday, and now we have a clearer understanding of its severity. Allen was starting to carve out a role alongside his backfield mate, Breece Hall. With Allen out, Isaiah Davis would likely serve as the RB2. Where Allen and Hall had a great set of complementary skills, there are a lot of overlapping traits between Hall and Davis. Expect Hall to maintain his role as the clear lead back, with Davis likely needing a Hall injury to find any fantasy relevance. |
New York Jets CB Michael Carter II (concussion), DE Jermaine Johnson (ankle) and RB Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 2. TE Mason Taylor (ankle) was limited during practice. CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr. (ankle) and OG John Simpson (elbow) fully participated in practice.

New York Jets TE Mason Taylor (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 2.
Link to storyFree-agent RB Khalil Herbert (Seahawks) signed with the New York Jets on Thursday, Oct. 2.
Footballguys view: With Braelon Allen on Injured Reserve, the Jets needed to add another body to the backfield. Herbert is a seasoned veteran, and a three-down player who has bounced around the league. Without Allen serving as Breece Hall's backup, Isaiah Davis should get more work. |
Khalil Herbert player page
New York Jets RB Braelon Allen (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Oct. 2. Surgery is possible for his undisclosed knee injury, but it's not known if it's of the season-ending variety.
Footballguys view: Reports have not been very positive about Allen's status for the rest of the year, but it's too early to say how long he'll be out of action. Breece Hall leads the way in the Jets backfield, and now we'll see Isaiah Davis get more work. |
New York Jets RB Braelon Allen (knee), CB Michael Carter II (concussion), DE Jermaine Johnson (ankle) and RB Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 1. TE Mason Taylor (ankle) was limited during practice. CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr. (ankle) and OG John Simpson (elbow) fully participated in practice. The Jets did not hold a practice Wednesday, so the report is an estimation.
