Free-agent TE Jaheim Bell (Patriots) was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles DE Za'Darius Smith announced his retirement Monday, Oct. 13.
Footballguys view: The Eagles came into the season with question marks at edge rusher following the departures of Brandon Graham (retirement) and Josh Sweat (free agency). The position took a further hit when Nolan Smith Jr. was placed on injured reserve in late September. Ogbo Okoronkwo was also placed on IR after their Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Nolan Smith is expected back after the Eagles' Week 9 bye. Two veteran players the team signed to one-year contracts this offseason, Joshua Uche and Azeez Ojulari, will likely step into bigger roles alongside starter Jalyx Hunt. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley (knee) is dealing with some soreness but is expected to play in the Week 6 game, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Barkley, 28, had just six rushing attempts and just nine total touches in the Eagles' 21-17 loss to the Broncos on Sunday at the Linc. But this is the first we have heard of a knee injury. Although he was listed as a nonparticipant, the Eagles did not have an actual practice on Monday and will not have one all week as they prepare to face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Thursday Night Football on short rest. So Monday's injury report is an estimation. Expect Barkley to start and play as usual, barring further notice. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley (knee), TE Grant Calcaterra (oblique) and OG Landon Dickerson (ankle) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 6. LB Jihaad Campbell (biceps) and DT Byron X. Young (triceps) were limited during practice. LB Nakobe Dean (knee) fully participated in practice. The Eagles did not hold a practice Monday, so the report is an estimation.

The Eagles listed RB Saquon Barkley as a non-participant on their estimated injury report because of a knee injury.
Footballguys view: Barkley has just 83 carries for 267 yards through five games this year. It's his worst five-game stretch as an Eagle. After gaining more than 2,000 yards in 16 games last season, Barkley is on pace for less than 1,000 yards in 17 games this season. There's no indication any of this is injury-related -- or that Barkley is in danger of missing Thursday's game against his former team. But we'll watch for more. |

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jahan Dotson was limited to just one catch on three targets in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos, but it was good for a 24-yard gain.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert registered three receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown on nine targets in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown posted five receptions for 43 yards on eight targets in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.
Footballguys view: Brown, who acknowledged some frustration with his role this season, emphasized he wants to be called upon in big moments and to get the offense going. Against Denver, Brown delivered a solid performance despite being shadowed by Broncos CB Pat Surtain II for much of the day, while DeVonta Smith went over 100 receiving yards for the first time this season. The offense went cold for a long stretch in the second half, however, as Denver mounted its comeback. Philly should have better luck against the Giants on Thursday night in Week 6. |

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith posted eight receptions for a game-high 114 yards on 10 targets in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.
Footballguys view: Smith rose to the occasion as the Eagles went pass-heavy for the first time this season. It probably won't happen again, but Smith should still be in Week 6 lineups against the Giants sometimes suspect secondary on Thursday night. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB AJ Dillon ran twice for 12 yards with no targets in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos, while RB Will Shipley ran once for no gain with a 4-yard reception on two targets.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley rushed six times for just 30 yards in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos, but he added three receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown on his three targets.
Footballguys view: Barkley got loose for a long receiving touchdown to salvage what would have otherwise been a very poor fantasy showing. The good news is that Nick Sirianni is highly unlikely to abandon the run again after the Broncos came back from a 17-3 deficit in the fourth quarter. Barkley also looked as fast as ever running down the ball while it was in the air for his touchdown. |

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts completed 23-of-38 passes for 280 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos, while running twice for just three yards.
Footballguys view: Hurts had a solid fantasy game as the offense went severely pass heavy, but they let the Broncos back in the game and probably won't only hand the ball off to Saquon Barkley six times again this season. Hurts was also not used as a runner by design or necessity, or this would have a better fantasy day for him. The Eagles won't have much time to think about this game with the Giants on the schedule Thursday. |

Philadelphia Eagles LB Jihaad Campbell ended up with 11 total stops, including six of the solo variety, with one tackle for loss in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles LB Zack Baun posted a game-high 12 total stops with seven solo tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and two quarterback hits in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos, although he did have a boneheaded unnecessary roughness penalty late to prevent his team from getting the ball back, cementing the loss.

Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles TE Grant Calcaterra (oblique) and OG Landon Dickerson (ankle) did not return to the Week 5 game because of their injuries.
Footballguys view: Calcaterra suffered his oblique injury in the first quarter. Since the injury was severe enough for him to be sidelined for the rest of Sunday's game, it puts him in jeopardy of missing the Eagles' Week 6 clash against the Giants on Thursday. |

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 2.
Footballguys view: A limited practice is an upgrade over the DNP Goedert got on Wednesday. The Broncos struggle to stop tight ends, so Goedert could feast on Sunday. |

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (knee) is participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 2.
Footballguys view: The Broncos can't stop tight ends, so Goedert should be in your fantasy lineup if he's available. After missing Wednesday's practice, Goedert is preparing to play on Sunday. |

Philadelphia Eagles LB Nakobe Dean (knee) will begin practicing either this week or next, according to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Fangio said Dean's role will be 'wait and see.'
Link to storyDuring the 2024 playoffs, Eagles receiver A.J. Brown turned Inner Excellence into a best seller while reading it on the bench. After Sunday's win over the Buccaneers, he quoted from the best-selling book of all time. Brown tweeted a line from the New Testament: "If you're not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don't make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way." Via Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the tweet was directed "at someone or someones internally with the Eagles."
Footballguys view: As PFT's Mike Florio noted, Brown was targeted nine times on Sunday, resulting in only two catches for seven yards. Although he had six receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in a Week 3 rally against the Rams, Brown had one catch (on one target) for eight yards in Week 1 against Dallas and five catches for 27 yards at Kansas City in Week 2. Last December, then-Eagles DE Brandon Graham publicly disclosed the existence of "personal stuff" between Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts. It's an issue to watch with Brown sitting at WR46 with 8.8 points per game. |
