This move leaves Emari Demercado as the third-down option, with Knight likely to handle all the early-down work. The Cardinals play the Cowboys on Monday Night Football this week. |

Vikings QB Carson Wentz will undergo surgery on his left shoulder and miss the rest of the 2025 season, sources tell NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Footballguys view: Wentz suffered an injury to his non-throwing (left) shoulder initially suffered Oct. 5. He was in obvious pain toward the end of last Thursday's loss to the Chargers after taking five sacks. Now, he will get the shoulder fixed. Wentz will reportedly be placed on injured reserve. J.J. McCarthy returned to practice this week. The second-year man, who's been out since suffering an ankle sprain in Week 2, is expected to return to action this week. We'll know more about that after Wednesday's practice.

The Rams expect to have Puka Nacua back in the lineup for Week 9, but they will be missing another member of their wide receiving corps. The team placed Tutu Atwell on injured reserve on Monday.
Footballguys view: Atwell missed Week 6 with a hamstring injury, and he played 10 snaps in his Week 7 return to the lineup. He had four catches for 164 yards in his six appearances this season. One of those catches went for an 88-yard touchdown in the Rams' Week 4 victory over the Colts. Atwell signed a one-year, $10 million contract to remain with the Rams in the offseason so that he will be set for free agency in 2026. As PFT notes, Nacua, Davante Adams, Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, and Xavier Smith are the remaining receivers for the Rams.

Buffalo Bills DT Ed Oliver (biceps) has been diagnosed with a torn biceps and is scheduled to undergo surgery, according to head coach Sean McDermott. Oliver has a chance to return to the lineup at some point during the playoffs.
Footballguys view: The Bills have been hit hard at defensive tackle as DaQuan Jones missed the past two games with a calf injury he sustained during pregame warmups before their Week 6 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Rookie T.J. Sanders is also on injured reserve. Oliver recorded a sack in the game, his third in three games played this year.

The Panthers moved Chuba Hubbard back into the starting lineup when the running back returned from a calf strain in Week 7, but Rico Dowdle may be returning to the role he filled while Hubbard was out. On Monday, head coach Dave Canales said that Dowdle has been "exceptional" and that conversations about how to handle the timeshare in the backfield will "definitely" be taking place in the coming days. "We cannot ignore the fact that Rico has made an impact when he's been out there. So these are things that we're talking through as a staff, and we'll make that decision as the week goes on."
Footballguys view: Dowdle ran eight times for 54 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bills, while Hubbard had 12 carries for 34 yards and a touchdown. Dowdle also led the team in rushing in Week 7, and he posted 472 yards from scrimmage in his two starts earlier this season. The Panthers fell to 4-4 with Sunday's loss, and they'll hope to have quarterback Bryce Young back with Dowdle and Hubbard for their Week 9 road game against the Packers. We'll continue to watch for more.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters last week that quarterback J.J. McCarthy would start when he's healthy. They may need him to be this week. According to multiple reporters on the scene, McCarthy was practicing on Monday during the media's brief viewing window. Carson Wentz, who has started the last five games for Minnesota, was not seen participating in the session.
Footballguys view: Wentz suffered an injury to his non-throwing (left) shoulder initially suffered Oct. 5. He was in obvious pain toward the end of last Thursday's loss to the Chargers after taking five sacks. An ankle injury has sidelined McCarthy. This is an opportunity for him to finally get in a full week of practice since suffering his injury in Week 2. Minnesota will release its first injury report of the week on Wednesday.

Washington Commanders PK Matt Gay (back) has been ruled out of the Week 8 game.

Miami Dolphins WR Dee Eskridge (shoulder) is considered day-to-day because of the shoulder injury he suffered during the Week 8 game.
Footballguys view: Eskridge was officially ruled out at halftime after the Dolphins announced he'd suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter against the Falcons. Dolphins rookie Ollie Gordon returned a kickoff for Miami in Eskridge's stead after the Falcons kicked a field goal. Malik Washington could be included on returns if Eskridge misses time going forward.

Giants running back Cam Skattebo is recovering after Sunday's surgery to repair the dislocated ankle he suffered while playing against the Eagles earlier in the day. Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that Skattebo is in good spirits while noting that he's going to have a long path back to playing. "All went well, he's recovering, and obviously he'll be missed," Daboll said. "On the road to recovery . . . he might be out [of the hospital] today, but he's got a road ahead of him."
Footballguys view: Skattebo joined fellow rookies Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter in injecting some energy and hope into a Giants team that's been lacking both for most of Daboll's tenure. His injury, as well as wide receiver Malik Nabers' torn ACL, have dimmed some of that, but the Giants will be hoping to have both players back to full speed in 2026. With Skattebo out, Tyrone Tracy Jr. will move back into the starting lineup with Devin Singletary working behind Tracy.
Denver Broncos TE Lucas Krull (foot) is scheduled to undergo foot surgery Monday, Oct. 27, according to a source. He is expected to be sidelined for around eight weeks.
Link to storyBengals quarterback Joe Flacco did not miss any snaps after briefly going into the locker room in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Jets, but it looks like he will be on the team's injury report this week. Head coach Zac Taylor said at a Monday press conference that Flacco is day-to-day with a shoulder injury.
Footballguys view: Flacco left the field briefly after being sacked, but returned for the final offensive possession of the game and said he was feeling fine after the game. "I had something happen, wasn't feeling 100 percent," Flacco said. "Just trying to make sure something was right . . . Landed a little awkward. I feel good right now." Jake Browning started three games before the Bengals traded for Flacco and was warming up before Flacco returned to the field on Sunday. He would be in line to start against the Bears if Flacco isn't good to go in Week 9.

Saints head coach Kellen Moore hasn't decided who will start at quarterback against the Rams next Sunday. Spencer Rattler has started all eight games for the Saints this season, but Moore replaced him with Tyler Shough during the third quarter of Sunday's 23-3 loss to the Buccaneers. Moore said that he expects to make a decision soon so that the team's choice has as much time as possible to get ready for the game. "We'll make a decision shortly and just go down that path so we can maximize as many reps and opportunities as we can going forward," Moore said.
Footballguys view: As PFT noted, Moore said after Sunday's game that he doesn't want to flip-flop between quarterbacks, and he was asked on Monday if going back to Rattler would be doing exactly that. Moore said Sunday's change was an attempt to find a "spark" for the entire offense rather than solely a response to the way Rattler was playing, but Rattler now has six turnovers over the last two games, and that may signal that it is time for the second-round pick to move up to the first team.

Free-agent TE Caden Prieskorn (Buccaneers) was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad Monday, Oct. 27. The team also released RB Ahmani Marshall from the practice squad.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals LB Shaka Heyward (fibula) suffered a hairline fracture in his fibula during the Week 8 game and is expected to be sidelined for four weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Link to storyThe Rams are going to get their top offensive weapon back this week as they return to action from their bye. Via multiple reporters, head coach Sean McVay said in his Monday news conference that receiver Puka Nacua is set to practice on Wednesday and is expected to play on Sunday against the Saints in Week 9.
Footballguys view: Nacua missed the club's Week 7 victory over the Jaguars in London with an ankle injury. With a Week 8 bye, Nacua is now set to miss just one game. In six games this season, Nacua has caught 54 passes for 616 yards with two touchdowns. A league-leading 33 of his receptions have resulted in first downs. We'll continue to watch for more, but this initial reporting falls into line with what we heard last week.

Free-agent RB Jonathan Ward (Giants) was signed to the New England Patriots practice squad Monday, Oct. 27, according to a source.

Cleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins (shoulder) has been diagnosed with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder and is considered day-to-day.
Footballguys view: Judkins has run 118 times for 486 yards and five touchdowns in seven games this season. The Browns have a Week 9 bye, so the downtime could allow him to return without missing any more game action. If Judkins isn't ready to retake the field in Week 10, however, Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson will lead the Browns' backfield.
Miami Dolphins CB Storm Duck (knee) will miss the rest of the season because of the knee injury during suffered during the Week 8 game, according to head coach Mike McDaniel.
Link to storyThough he missed Sunday's loss to the Bills, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is getting closer to returning from an ankle injury. Head coach Dave Canales provided an update on the quarterback during his Monday press conference. "With Bryce, [he's] just getting better every day," Canales said. "Had a good session running today in return-to-play. The goal is to get him out there on Wednesday, move him around, see if we can get him into practice in a mode. So, I'm optimistic he'll be out there. But we're going to take it day-to-day with him."
Footballguys view: Young suffered the injury during the Week 7 win over the Jets. As PFT noted, Andy Dalton played poorly in his start against Buffalo yesterday, finishing 16-of-24 for 175 yards with an interception and two lost fumbles. In his third season, Young has completed 62 percent of his throws for 1,288 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions so far in 2025. He's also rushed for 69 yards with a TD. The Panthers will be on the road to face the Packers in Week 9.

Tennessee Titans CB Roger McCreary was traded to the Los Angeles Rams Monday, Oct. 27, in exchange for a conditional 2026 fifth-round draft choice. The Rams will also receive a conditional 20206 sixth-round draft choice.
Link to storyTennessee Titans CB Roger McCreary was acquired by the Los Angeles Rams Monday, Oct. 27, in exchange for a conditional 2026 fifth-round draft choice. The Rams will also receive a conditional 20206 sixth-round draft choice.
Footballguys view: McCreary, a second-round pick in 2022, is in the final season of his rookie contract. He has played primarily in the slot for the Titans this season, but has experience playing outside, as well. Rams head coach Sean McVay said trading for McCreary adds "depth" at the position group for Los Angeles and that the cornerback's versatility made him an ideal addition. McVay said he likes the job versatile safety Quentin Lake has done in the slot this season, but noted "there's not a whole lot of depth behind him."
Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Haason Reddick (ankle, knee) is 'both day-to-day and week-to-week,' according to head coach Todd Bowles. Reddick is dealing with an ankle sprain and sore knee.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. will not be moved, according to head coach Liam Coen.
Footballguys view: Thomas leads the Jaguars with 365 receiving yards, and his 27 receptions are second to Travis Hunter's team-high 28. Thomas is also tied for second in the NFL with five drops, which is one more than he had as a rookie in 2024. As ESPN.com's Mike DiRocco suggested, there have also been multiple occasions where he has appeared to avoid contact while attempting to make a catch. When Coen was hired in January, he said the pass offense would run through Thomas, but it seems likely the team will continue leaning more heavily on Hunter.
Detroit Lions LB Malcolm Rodriguez (knee) was designated to return from the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Oct. 27.
Link to storyBuffalo Bills DT Ed Oliver (biceps) is feared to have suffered a torn biceps in Week 8. He's undergoing an MRI to confirm Monday, Oct. 27.

Cleveland Browns LB Carson Schwesinger (ankle) was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain Monday, Oct. 27. He leads the Browns with 64 tackles.
Footballguys view: Schwesinger, a second-round pick out of UCLA, leads Cleveland with 64 total tackles. He's also registered four tackles for loss, three QB hits, a sack, and an interception. He recorded that first interception of his career on Sunday before having to depart the game. As noted by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Schwesinger's sprain is not believed to be major. He's set to be reevaluated after Cleveland's Week 9 bye to determine a timeline for return. The Browns will face the Jets on the road after their break.
Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley (groin) likely could have returned to the game if it were closer, according to sources. The injury isn't believed to be serious.
Footballguys view: Again, this falls into line with Barkley's post-game comments, and it was also the Eagles' official company line. Per the team, he could have returned to the game if needed. He wasn't. But, as Profootballtalk.com noted his morning, Barkley will be needed in 15 days, when the Eagles visit the Packers. The bye week will give Barkley plenty of time to get back up to full speed. Barkley had his best game of the season against the Giants. He rushed for 150 yards with a touchdown on just 14 carries. He caught four passes for 24 yards and a touchdown.

Free-agent WR Tyler Lockett (Titans) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Las Vegas Raiders Monday, Oct. 27.
Footballguys view: Lockett joined the Seahawks as a third-round pick in 2015 and played for current Raiders coach Pete Carroll in his first nine NFL seasons. He remained with the Seahawks for the 2024 season, but moved on to Tennessee after being released in March. Lockett had 10 catches for 70 yards in Tennessee before he asked for and was granted his release last week. The Raiders are hoping that Lockett can recreate the kind of production he had while playing for Carroll and with quarterback Geno Smith during his time in Seattle.

Green Bay Packers TE Tucker Kraft caught seven of his nine targets for 143 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-25 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8.
Footballguys view: Of his 143 yards, 128 came after the catch. It's the most YAC by a tight end in a game since 2018 (George Kittle, 135 vs. the Broncos). Kraft also has the two highest YAC games by a tight end this season. His 59-yard catch in the third quarter was his longest of the season, but he also had a 57-yarder earlier this year. The rest of the TEs in the NFL have combined for three receptions of 50-plus yards. The Packers play the Panthers in Week 9.

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love completed 29 of his 37 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-25 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8.
Footballguys view: At one point, Love completed a career-best 20 straight passes on the way to going 29-for-37 for 360 yards and three touchdowns. Love nearly doubled his previous long completion streak of 11. Love became the first Packers quarterback with 350 yards passing, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in a game since Aaron Rodgers in 2021 at the Vikings. The Packers play the Panthers in Week 9.
