Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (hamstring) fully participated in practice Monday, Oct. 27. The team only held a walkthrough Monday, so this is an estimation.
Footballguys view: As Profootballtalk.com reminded readers, Jackson's status for Sunday's game against the Bears was a source of some confusion over the weekend, but head coach John Harbaugh was a little clearer about how things look for this week. Harbaugh said the plan is for Jackson to play against the Dolphins on Thursday night. "I feel very confident," Harbaugh said at a Monday press conference. "I feel very confident about it. We expect him to be out there Thursday night." Stay tuned. We'll be watching this closely right up through kickoff, starting with his final injury designation on Wednesday.

Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. (knee) is considered day-to-day leading up to the Week 9 game, according to head coach Raheem Morris.
Footballguys view: Penix was held out of Week 8 due to a bone bruise on his knee. Morris suggested the injury isn't serious, but we're still "kind of in a wait-and-see mode." But the Falcons couldn't have been pleased with Kirk Cousins' work against the Dolphins. Atlanta went three-and-out on four of their first five possessions and only managed a field goal on the other against a team that had allowed at least 27 points to everyone except the Jets. The Falcons will face the New England Patriots on the road in Week 9.
San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) is not considered a long shot to play in Week 9, but the team will see how he feels Wednesday, Oct. 29, and if he can take part in practice, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Purdy has been sidelined by a toe injury, but took part in practice on a limited basis every day last week before being ruled out. Shanahan said he'll have a better idea about the quarterback's outlook when the team is back at work in a couple of days. "I don't think it's a long shot, but I know he is doing better and we'll see how he's doing Wednesday," Shanahan said. Mac Jones has been starting in Purdy's place, and Shanahan called him day-to-day with a bruised knee. Stay tuned.
Indianapolis Colts TE Tyler Warren (head) did not need to be placed in the concussion protocol after the Week 8 game, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: As SBNation characterized it, Warren finished the game with "what seems like a pedestrian four catches for 53 yards," but it was another solid outing for the young tight end. He could have had a bigger day, but he slipped on a screen pass that had touchdown potential. The Colts play the Steelers, who give up the second-most points to tight ends this season, in Week 9.
Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (head) did not need to be placed in the concussion protocol after the Week 8 game, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Stephen Holder notes, Jones was a bit off on some of his first-half throws in Sunday's win over the Titans and seemed to be holding the ball too long at times. That contributed to more pass rush pressure than usual for the Colts. But even when he wasn't at his best, Jones still managed to make wise decisions and remain efficient. He completed 21-of-29 attempts for 272 yards and three TDs, avoiding a turnover for the sixth time in eight games this season. The Colts get a favorable passing matchup against the Steelers this week.

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (knee) will not have his 21-day practice window opened this week, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Aiyuk has not practiced with his 49ers teammates since sustaining tears to his ACL and MCL on Oct. 20, 2024, against the Chiefs. He underwent surgery in mid-November and was placed on the physically unable to perform list when the 49ers reported to training camp this summer. While GM John Lynch suggested Aiyuk could practice this week, Shanahan updated us Monday. "I think it's week-to-week from here on out that he has got a chance," Shanahan said. "Just not this week." We'll continue to monitor.

Cleveland Browns WR Cedric Tillman (hamstring) is expected to return to the lineup after the team's Week 9 bye, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Footballguys view: Tillman has been sidelined since Week 4 with a hamstring injury. After the loss against the Lions, it was announced that He would miss at least four weeks when he was placed on IR. As SI.com noted, so far this year, Tillman has been targeted 20 times, in which he has hauled in 11 receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Tillman's most productive week came in Week 1, where he caught five passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. While this offense is far from high-end, getting another play-making asset back in the mix can't hurt.
Chicago Bears WR Luther Burden III (concussion) is going through the concussion protocol.
Footballguys view: Burden will have to work his way through the five-step protocol that calls for increased activity followed by daily testing to play against the Bengals in Week 9. If he isn't ready, Olamide Zaccheaus will continue to serve as the primary option behind starters Rome Odunze and DJ Moore.
Denver Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II (pectoral) may be a candidate for the Reserve/Injured list because of the pectoral injury he suffered during the Week 8 game.
Footballguys view: On Monday afternoon, Jordan Schultz reported that Surtain is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. 9NEWS' Mike Klis confirmed the injury, though not the timetable. Now, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that Surtain is likely to head to injured reserve, we're gaining clarity. The Broncos' bye is in Week 12, and Surtain could return shortly after. Still, this is a blow to the Broncos' defense.
Free-agent WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (49ers) agreed to terms with the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday, Oct. 27, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Footballguys view: The signing would bring a former target of Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers into the fold while the Pittsburgh passing offense continues to struggle. Rodgers and Valdez-Scantling spent four seasons together in Green Bay from 2018 to 2021. During that time, Valdez-Scantling caught 123 passes from Rodgers. This constitutes a significant percentage of Valdez-Scantling's 209 career receptions. Valdez-Scantling also caught 13 touchdown passes from Rodgers. In 2020, Valdez-Scantling led the NFL with 20.9 yards per reception. We'll see if he can break into the rotation here.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy had five receptions for 53 yards in Week 8 versus the Washington Commanders. He was targeted seven times.
Link to storyKansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice caught all nine of his targeted passes for 93 yards and a touchdown in a Week 8 victory over the Washington Commanders. He also ran twice for 12 yards.
Footballguys view: As NFL.com noted, Rice only returned in Week 7 but has already made a visible difference for the Chiefs. He caught two touchdown passes in his 2025 debut, then filled a few different roles on Monday night, including taking a direct snap, bursting through traffic, and landing just short of a rushing score. With Rice on the field, opposing defenses have one more significant weapon to account for at all times, and it's clear how much it has opened up the Chiefs' offense -- and gives the rest of the league legitimate reason to fear Kansas City.

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin (quad) had three receptions (on four targets), 54 yards, and a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. McLaurin departed in the second half with a quad issue, however, which is the same spot where an injury cost his four games. After the game, McLaurin said he was 'pretty optimistic' about the injury before adding that he'll take it day by day.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com noted, McLaurin left the game in the fourth quarter with the Commanders trailing by multiple touchdowns, so perhaps it was a bit precautionary on Washington's end to keep him out for the remainder of the contest. That said, aggravating the same quad injury that sidelined him the last four games isn't ideal. They have a short turnaround ahead of Sunday's home game against the Seahawks. McLaurin's status will bear watching ahead of Week 9.
