What's New At Footballguys

📣 Voice Of The Footballguy 🎤

📊 POLL RESULTS: In our last issue of the Daily Update, we asked you Footballguys:

Which rookie RB takes control of his backfield first?

And the Footballguy says: I trust TreVeyon Henderson more than the Patriots do.

TODAY: Clayton Gray’s deep dive into how player values are shifting in high-stakes NFFC drafts reveals one clear trend — quarterbacks are climbing.

Among the biggest movers this week: Lamar Jackson surged 6 spots, Jayden Daniels climbed 4, and Bo Nix jumped 8. But which of these rising QBs most deserves the boost?

So today, we ask you Footballguys:

🗳️ POLL: Which rising QB most deserves their recent NFFC ADP surge?

When you vote in the Poll below, you'll see the current standings, and we'll post the final results in the next edition of the Daily Update.

1. HOU: Report: Nick Chubb Expected To Sign With Houston Monday

Source: NFL Network – Ian Rapoport

Sources tell NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that Browns free-agent RB Nick Chubb, one of the most decorated players available, is expected to sign with the Texans on Monday if all goes well with his physical.

Our view: The Texans have Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce, Woody Marks, and Dare Ogunbowale at the top of their depth chart at the position. Both Mixon and Pierce missed time with injuries last season. Chubb, 29, has played only 10 games the past two seasons. A horrific knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season kept him out until Week 7 of the 2024 season. Chubb played eight games last season before breaking his foot. We'll follow up when an official move is made, but this will put a damper on Mixon's Footballguys RB15 projection.

2. TEN: Xavier Restrepo shining early

Source: TennesseeTitans.com – Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Xavier Restrepo has shown 'great chemistry' with QB Cam Ward during OTAs, according to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com.

Our view: Restrepo had a breakout year when Ward came to the University of Miami last year, so it makes a lot of sense that they would have instant chemistry as Titan teammates even though he went undrafted. Fourth round picks Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike have also drawn praise in OTAs. They'll compete for playing time with free agent additions Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson, although Restrepo is probably limited to the slot because of his lack of straight line speed. Treylon Burks is coming back from an ACL tear and might not figure into the depth chart at the open of the season.

The quarterback landscape in Dynasty Fantasy Football has never been more crucial than in today's Superflex-driven world. Dave Kluge and I broke down our latest Dynasty QB rankings by tiers, diving into who you should trade for, who you can trade away, and where the value gaps are.

These are the 34 quarterbacks that can swing your league. Let's get into it.

Tier 1 - Elite Cornerstones

[0:43]

"Jayden Daniels almost feels untouchable in dynasty leagues."
"Jackson…is younger than Josh Allen, he's got all the same rushing upside as Jayden Daniels."
"If I've got one of those guys and I could trade back for Jayden Daniels, I'm more than happy to do that too."

Key Takeaways:

  • Daniels' youth and rushing upside give him a strong case as QB1.
  • Jackson is seen as the most undervalued of this tier.
  • Daniels' sophomore season and Kingsbury's offense bring slight risk but massive upside.

Trade Strategy:
If you can trade Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson for Jayden Daniels and a small piece, do it. Lamar is your best value buy among the elite.

Tier 2 - Franchise QBs with Ceiling and Floor

[9:09]

"This is the tier I'm okay completely skipping over."
"Patrick Mahomes II without Tyreek and Kelce in their primes? We've seen QB8, QB12…"
"Jalen Hurts is touchdown dependent…shave five touchdowns off and he's the QB10."

Key Takeaways:

  • This tier offers name-brand value but lacks youth and consistent rushing.
  • Hurts is viewed as volatile but with a high floor due to rushing TDs.
  • Mahomes' fantasy ceiling appears capped in recent years.

Trade Strategy:
If you're holding Hurts, Mahomes, or Burrow, consider trading down for youth plus picks, especially for Caleb Williams or Drake Maye plus a 2nd.

Tier 3 - Youth and Upside

[16:08]

"I'm okay making trades for Brock Purdy and Bo Nix."
"Caleb Williams is a better prospect than Bo Nix, and he's younger."
"Stroud doesn't want to run…that caps his upside."

Key Takeaways:

  • Williams and Maye are nearly impossible to acquire.
  • Purdy and Nix are prime buy targets due to low market trust.
  • Stroud has real-life value but a limited fantasy ceiling without rushing.

Trade Strategy:
Target Bo Nix, Purdy, or even Drake Maye in trades. Avoid overpaying for Herbert or Stroud.

Tier 4 - Value Arbitrage and Breakout Watch

3. TEN: Van Jefferson impressing at OTAs

Source: TennesseeTitans.com – Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Van Jefferson has 'looked good' during OTAs, according to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com.

Our view: We would normally assume a journeyman like Jefferson has little chance to make an impact, but his main competition to start outside opposite Calvin Ridley is Tyler Lockett and two fourth round picks. Maybe the bottom line here is that Cam Ward isn't going to have the most impressive set of weapons in his rookie year.

4. BUF: Dalton Kincaid played through two knee injuries

Source: The Buffalo News – Jay Skurski

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid (knees) played through injuries to both knees during the 2024 season. He dealt with a posterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee and a Morel-Lavallee lesion, which resulted in bursitis, in his right knee.

Our view: Kincaid missed time last year after initially suffering at least one of the injuries in Week 10. His performance did drop off after the injury and in the playoffs, but he was only TE16 in PPR leagues before Week 10. Kincaid is currently TE14 in our Footballguys consensus ADP, so it doesn't seem like the fantasy football hive mind is buying into a breakout year for him.

5. NYJ: Garrett Wilson to do more blocking

Source: ESPN.com – Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson said that he and the team's other wide receivers may have different responsibilities this season, even though Shawn Jefferson is still serving as the receivers coach. For example, Wilson said there will be offensive plays designed where he will seek out a safety and block him.

Our view: This isn't a surprise with a running quarterback in Justin Fields at the helm. Wilson is still set up for a bounce back year in a reunion with his college quarterback. Fields isn't known for his passing, but he did zero in on DJ Moore enough for Moore to have a career year in their last campaign together in Chicago. Wilson's ADP has fallen a round and a half from his late first value last year, but he won't have to compete with Davante Adams for targets, and won't have a quarterback in Aaron Rodgers that he didn't riff with last year.

6. NE: OC happy with Drake Maye's progress

Source: ESPN.com – Mike Reiss

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye has done a good job picking up the offense and has shown solid development this offseason, according to offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. "He's doing really well. He's very smart. Works really hard," McDaniels said. "He's doing a really good job of digesting the information, processing the corrections when there is a correction to be made, and going out there with a great attitude and mindset the next day."

Our view: McDaniels offense is going to be challenging, but it should unlock more of Maye's value than Alex Van Pelt's did last year. The team also added TreVeyon Henderson and Kyle Williams in the draft and Stefon Diggs in free agency to bolster the passing game, and drafted Will Campbell at #4 to improve the line. Maye already had fantasy value in a poor offense, he could be one of the breakout quarterbacks of the year in fantasy league with better surroundings.

7. BAL: Multiple teams had interest in Rashod Bateman

Source: ESPN.com – Jeremy Fowler

In addition to the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens WR Rashod Bateman received trade interest from the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots earlier this offseason before he signed a three-year, $36.75 million contract extension with the Ravens.

Our view: All three teams were in the market for a classic "X" receiver who can win against NFL cornerbacks outside of the numbers. The Cowboys traded for George Pickens, the Patriots signed Stefon Diggs, and the Packers took Matthew Golden in the first round. Bateman's contract is about the same as the one the Bills gave Joshua Palmer, so this could be a bargain if Bateman plays the way he did last year and stays healthy.
